Postage Due Card Candy

I am a card candy addict!  My groups swap at convention this year was, CARD CANDY, so you don't have to make the whole card, just a piece to be used later to make a card.  It is so fun because the pieces I got are so cute and it is so easy to make a card with that piece.  The colors and style are choosen for you, I am loving it!

Here is the card candy piece for today, created by Tara Eubanks. 

I love the Lace paper at the bottom, from the Fan Fair DSP #126918.   And the Postage Due set #126397 she used is on my wish list, so I was excited about this piece.  Here is the card I made with it...

I added two butterflies to the front, couldn't help myself!  The background was done with DSP from the Comfort Cafe DSP #126898 and the Postage Stamp punch #122344. I sponged the edges of my punched pieces with Crumb Cake ink.  

Here's a little tip... the punched pieces that are not in the corners are cut in half, since only a small portion of it shows, you can save paper by cutting them in half.

Chevron Flower

Last week at convention we did some fabulous make and take projects.  This year I got so many of mine done, which is usually not the case at all.  Stampin' Up! had an optional time we could work on our projects and I loved it and was able to stamp and have fun and get all but one of my make and takes done.  

The one I did not get done was a pouch with a fabric flower.  I was not sure that this was my favorite of the projects so I thought it would be a good one for me to take home and make it my own.  

Yesterday, I pulled out the 2" x 28" strip of Daffodil Delight Chevron fabric and decided to make a quick flower.

I made this flower into a brooch, but it could also be attached to a clip or headband. 

Here's how I did it...

With a needle and thread, knot the end and do a running stitch down one side.  Pull and gather the fabric as tight or as loose as you like.  Mine was fairly tight.  Tie off the thread and snip off the end.  

Roll your gathered strip into a rosette, so that the fabric is right side in. I used a little dot of hot glue at the beginning, middle and end to help it stay where I wanted it to. 

Here is how I turn my flower into a brooch.  First, I hot glue the flower to a felt circle, die cut with the Circles Die #2, using the second to smallest circle.  I die cut a second circle, the same size.  Cut to slits in it, by folding the circle in half and making little snip with your fabric scissors. 

Insert your pin. Hot glue this to the back of the flower, right over the top of the previous felt circle. 

Well, mostly over the top, what ever works.   And look how cute the brooch is...

I am a nut, I know.  I was playing with photo booth and imagining this...  

Someone says: That's cute.

Me: This?

Someone: Yeah, I love it. 

Me: My flower, Thanks!

Someone: Did you make that? 

Me: I did!

Someone: Wow, you are so talented.

Me: Awh, thanks!

Fabulous Dress Card

I woke up early this morning, it's so quiet, what a perfect time to sneek into the stamp room, close the door and CREATE!!!  I have been working on making cards with the "card candy" that I got from a group swap I participated in at convention. Card Candy = a small stamped or paper crafted piece(s) that can later be used to create a whole card or other paper craft project.  

Today, I pulled out an envelope from the swap that looked like lots of fun!  The creator behind these pieces is my friend, Fontella Henderson, who is an amazing stamper! 

Look at all the fun piece I had to play with!  Here is the card I created with the pieces...

You might notice that I changed the dress.  When I noticed the back side of the dress, with the white polka dots, I loved it!  It reminded me of my BFF's dress, the one she wore to Award's Night at Convention, I absolutely love and covet this dress, SEE....

Okay, that is not my BFF in the pic, but it is the dress, don't you love it!  I need it, but the red is all sold out. I might have to borrow her's one time! 

The "you are fabulous" saying comes from the convention exclusive stamp set I earned for attending classes at convention, called "I am...".  It's a pretty cute set, and I think I will be using it!

Ornament Keepsakes Card Candy

I am back with a creation made with a piece of "card candy" which I recieved from a swap at convention.  "Card candy" is a piece or pieces created for later use on a card or other paper crafting project.  Card Candy makes a great gift and was a super fun swap!

 

I got this piece of card candy from my friend, Carole Helmig, it is made using the Ornament Keepsakes Stamp Set (from the upcoming Holiday Catalog).  I am *IN LOVE* with this set and the matching framelits.  I especially love it because I got it as a prize at SU! Convention!!! And it was my birthday the day I won it! 

Here is the card I made with this AMAZING piece!  

I did not have to do much, since the card candy was so phenominal.  Don't you love the Cherry Cobble dry embossed panel behind the focal ornament?  It is done with our new Core'dinations Card Stock.  It is 80 lb. sandable card stock, the inside is a coordinating color, which is revealed when you sand it.  Mercy, I love it! Stampin' Up! knows the way to my heart!

Convention Card Candy

Welcome Stampin' Friends! 

Every year at convention my group does a swap.  This year our swap theme was "card candy".  Which means you create a piece of a card, the focal point of the card only.  When you swap these then you go home with several pieces that you can now use to create your own cards.  So, that  is what our group is going to do and at our next group meeting we will share the cards that we have made with our "card candy".  

So, I thought I would start with the card candy I made.  Here is the piece I made for our swap: 

This piece measures 2-1/2" x 3-1/2".  I ended up changing the saying to "Jolly Christmas", I thought it would be better for a card. So, here is the card I made with it.

The stamp set used here is the No Peeking Set #126292, so cute!  My card is a "Z-Fold" card.  It's really simple.  

Start with a card base that measures 4-1/4" x 11.  Score it at 2-3/4" and 5-1/2".  Fold the card in half on the score line then fold the front of the card back, creating a "z-fold". You can see it a little better in the photo below...

I also wanted to show you the GLITTERINESS (it is a real word, look in the Stampin' Up! dictionary, right after GLIMMERINESS!) of this card...

I used three different types of glitter on this piece...

1) Dazzling Dimonds adhered with 2-way glue on the penguins belly and the hat and scarf of the bird.

2) Jolly Christmas is stamped with Gumball Green Ink and embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder. 

3)Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details was used to make the red berries on the wreath.  I also used this to make the orniments red on the Christmas Tree. 

Then Rhinestones to top it off, bling and glitteriness, now that is a Jolly Christmas card!!

tools: heat tool, 1/2" circle punch (to punch the corners off the pool party card stock panel), big shot die cutting machine, snowflake embossing folder (retired), simply scored, demensionals, 2-way glue, multipurpose liquid glue, snail adhesive

Wooden Buttons

I have had such and amazing week at Stampin' Up! Convention.  So many fun new ideas and inspirations!   I will share more of those with you later.  Today I have a challenge piece to share with you.  It is Stampin' Royalty Challenge Day!  This weeks challenge is BUTTONS!  Fun, I love buttons.  I knew right away I wanted to use the new Naturals Designer Buttons.  The are actually "wood like", but the look and feel just like wood.  Fun!

Daydream Medallion card

It's Stampin' Royalty Challenge Day!  Challenge #132 is a picture challenge: 

It's a little country, vintage and romantic.  I thought this would be a real challenge for me.  I looked at all my new stamp sets and in-colors and found something I thought would work great. 

My FAVORITE part, the little bit of Crochet Trim peaking out from behind the Denim Jean Ribbon.  I felt like I captured the "little bit country, vintage and romantic feel of the picture here in this card.  I feel it needs to sit out on display for a few days so I can just look at it.  Here look at it from this angle...

Who knew that things made out of paper could give such delight?!?

All right enough about my crazy.  How about some details.

My sister's bday gift

Welcome Stampin' Friends! 

I know my blog is called "carrie stamps", but sometimes, carrie beads!  

My mom got my sister a cute jewelry organizer to hang necklaces on for her birthday in August, and knowing that I play with beads from time to time, she said, "maybe you would like to make her a necklace to go with it."  Um, what, me, um, yeah, sure.  I am a novice beader, like, pull out the strechy cord, string on some beads and tie a knot, kind of beader.  And my sister is a fashion deva!  So, I was not sure that I would be able to make something that she would want to wear, not just that one time out of obligation to her big sister who sent her yet another hand made gift!  So, after a long visit to the craft store, I left with some fun new beads and got to stringing.  

I am so proud of my self, I used rings, wire, crimping beads a lobster claw!  I have only used these things a few times and remembered that it is not that hard to do.  I figured out how to attached the wire for the beading to the buttterfly.  I love how it turned out and I think my sister will like it too!  Now, back to stampin', I am working on some CARD CANDY for a convention swap.  And my Stampin' Royalty challenge project, coming up on Wednesday.  So, I will have more to share with you soon!

A gray challenge

It is Stampin' Royalty Challenge Day!!  Challenge #131 is a color challenge... Basic Gray, Daffodil Delight, and Baja Breeze!  How fun, I love Basic Gray! 

And Basic Gray with a yellow, love, love, love it! I had lots of fun with this card playing with a bunch of my new products! 

For the Basic Gray Background I used the new Fancy Fan Embossing Folder #127751.

The Baja Breeze Doily that the butterfly is sitting on is from a new Sizzlit, Delicate Dollies #126999.

The Daffodil Delight decorative strips are made with our new Finishing Touches Edgelit Set #127101.

The butterfly was stamped with the new Papillon Potpourri stamp set #123759.

And punch with the coordinating PUNCH!!! The Elegant Butterfly punch #127526.

The little thanks label was stamped with the Lovely Little Labels stamp set #126262 and the PUNCHED with the matching punch that comes in a set of 3, Little Labels Punch Pack #126881.

It was a fun card to make, it's always fun when you are using new products for the first time!
