I wanted to share with you how I made this Witches Hat for my Ladies Night Out stamping event.
I was inspired by Connie Collins, who created a witches hat treat box for a 3D for her Artisan Projects, I loved it and created my own version.
I have made a photo tutorial for you, so that you can create your own Witches Hat.
Take a 4-1/4" x 11" piece of card stock and score it at 5-1/2" (like you were making a card)
Then, make a tic mark at 2-1/8" at the top and bottom of the card stock, this is the middle of the card stock.
Now line up the tic mark and the scored line, as seen here with the cutting groove on your paper cutter, now connect those two marks with a scored line.
Repeat this on the other side and the bottom half of the card stock, creating two triangles.
I like to use my bone folder for this.
To make the brim of the hat you need a 7 x 1-1/4" strip of matching card stock. Fold the card base in half, center the strip over it so that the fold and the bottom of the strip are aligned. With your bone folder, make a tic mark where top of the strip intersects with the scored line on both sides.
Take the strip to your paper cutter. Line up the tic mark and the corner in the groove of your paper cutterr, and cut off the corner on each side.
Time to assemble. Fold on the scored lines to create a box.
There is no adhesive needed for this box. Just hold the box together and....
Punch through all four layers with the largest whole of your crop-a-dile. It does feel like you are cramming is in there, but it comes out fine. Now is the time to fill your hat with a goody!
Then tie it shut with coordinating ribbon. I use Rich Razzleberry polka-dot ribbon. Attached the hat brim, I use Tombow Liquid glue for all my glueing on this project.
Here are the pieces you need to make the buckle for your hat. The Old Olive piece was made with the Curly Label punch.
First glue on the curly label piece and then the 1" square in the center of that and you have a faux buckle.
Using the small star punch, punch out several stars to randomly cover your hat. I punched mine from the Cottage Wall designer paper.
Glue on your faux buckle/hat band, so that the edge of the Rich Razzleberry band and the edge of the basic black hat brim are lined up and touching. Now trim off all the star and hat band so they are flush with the edge of the hat.
Add a tag to the top of the hat if you like, mine is from Grateful Greetings in the current Holiday Mini Catalog.
And, there you have it, a super cute Halloween goody yo give to all your Ghoul Friends!
