Backpack Tags

Welcome Stampin' Friends!

I have some cute backpack tags to share with you today.  We made them at my kids stamp camp a few weeks ago.  I have girls and boys that attend, so I wanted to have something that the boys would like as well as the girls. 

The hello kitty tag is made with a sizzix die, we had to have it, due to the obession of all things hk!  The Angry Bird tag was made with punches and dies, isn't he so cute.  I don't even play this game or have ever even thought about angry birds, but the boy that comes to my stamp camps loves them.  So, I thought we should do and angry bird tag.  I was sure you could o it with punches and I found just what I was looking for on Dawn Griffith's blog.  

Here is how I made my Angry Bird...

*Body - Real Red - cut with 4" circle die, then run it through again to cut off the piece at the bottom of the body (1)

*Body - Crumb Cake - cut with the 4" circle die, glue to the back of the red 4" circle (1)

*Eyes - Whisper White - 1-3/8" Circle Punch (2)

*Eyes - Basic Black - 1/2" Circle Punch, pop them both (2)

*Beak - Daffodil Delight - 1-3/8" Square Punch, cut in half diagonally, only use one half for the top of the beak, pop it (1)

*Beak - Daffodil Delight - 1"  Square Punch, cut in half diagonally, only use one half for the bottom of the beak (1)

*Eyebrows - Basic Black - Modern Label Punch, cut off the ends and glue together in a "V" shape (2)

*Top Feather - Real Red - Trio Heart Punch (retired) (1)

*Tail Feather - Basic Black - 1-3/8" Circle Punch, cut out pizza slice shapes to create the look of the tail feathers (1)

The backpack tags were a big hit!  However, my youngest daughter has her own obession with Dora the Explorer and had a new Dora backpack.  So, I thought we needed a Dora tag just for her.  I was all set to make her with punches, found a great one on Ellen Kemper's blog.  But the only problem was I do not have ANY creamy caramel card stock left!  What other color could Dora be?  It just so happens that my daughter took off the tag that came with the backpack and left it on the floor of my stamp room.  When I pick it up I thought, I COULD USE THIS TO MAKE THE BACK PACK TAG. And I did. 

I had to add the yellow bow at the top of her head, to cover the hole in the tag.  So we are all ready to start our Home School Co-Op group next week and very excited too!

Eeyore card for Dad

I know it is a little late to post a Father's Day card!  On Father's Day weekend we went camping with my in-laws, so that means I did not see my Dad on Father's Day.  So, we celebrated this past Saturday. I was so pleased with the card I made for him and just had to share it! 

I guess this might need a little explaining. My Dad is a big Eeyore fan and does his voice really good.  Often he talks like Eeyore when something doesn't go his way, which might have happend more than usual with a house of all girls.  With four girls plus my Mom, he was way out numbered!!! I thought my saying for the card front was perfect for our one week late celebration of Father's Day.  I got the idea on this particular Eeyore from Ellen Kemper (queen of punch art, in my book).  Thanks Ellen!

Here is what I did to make my Eeyore (all the blue pieces are Marnia Mist):

Body = 1-3/4" Circle Punch and the Wide Oval Punch layered behind the circle.

Neck = Large Oval Punch layered behind the Wide Oval Punch of the body.

Mane = four petal flower from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack, layered behind the neck and an additional 2 for the tuff of hair on his head from Basic Black.

Muzzle = 1-3/8 Circle Punch from Sahara Sand, round the top of the circle with the Wide Oval.

Head = Wide Oval Punch, you may need to trim the sides in a little so that it matches the muzzle. 

Eyes = Owl Punch - the heart, cut in half from Whisper White and 1/4" Circle Punch from Basic Black.  You will also need a White Gel Pen to add the whites to his eyes.

Ears = Large Oval Punch cut in half, using a curvy cut and one Small Oval Punch from Rich Razzleberry also cut in half.  Adhere the razzleberry piece to the back of the ear piece so that the rounded side shows. 

Front leg = Modern Label Punch

Back leg = Large Oval Punch, cut the top off in a "s" shape to make the foot

Tail = using the negative piece of a small oval hand cut the tail

Hair for the Tail = Small Heart Punch, snip the top of the heart to look like hair, glue the point of the heart to the end of the tail.

Bow = Owl Punch, two hearts and one of the smallest eye pieces from Rich Razzleberry.  Glue these on to cover the point of the hair on the tail.

Now, go punch you an Eeyore, he would be great for a baby shower card as well! 

Simply Adorned Candy Corn

I have another Halloween project that I demonstrated at the Stampadelicious group meeting last month to share with you today.  I love the Simply Adorned line that Stampin' Up! has!!!  How fun to create works of art and then be able to incorporate that into your wardrobe! I thought I wanted something *sweet* to wear in mine for Halloween!!! 

Here is how I made my candy corn...

1. Using the Petite Pennants Builder Punch, punch out only 3/4 of the small pennant, creating a smaller pennant, with Whisper White Card stock. 

2. Add a small strip of Daffodil Delight card stock to the bottom of your triangle and then a small strip of Pumpkin Pie card stock just above that, leaving a white tip.  

3. Take your favorite paper scissors and slight round the corners to give a candy corn look. 

4. Press the candy corn into the Versamark pad, emboss the entire candy corn with Iridescent Ice embossing powder to give it the glittery look. 

5. Pop that over your background with a dimensional. 

6. I made my background with a stamp from the Spooky Bingo Bits Stamp set and a small piece of torn Basic Black Cardstock.  

These little charms are so much fun to make!

Itty Bitty Boo Boxes

Welcome Stampin' Friends! 

Today's project is a CASE from a project featured in Stampin' Success Magazine (a monthly magazine just for Stampin' Up! demonstrators, another reason to join!) I loved these adorable little boxes and the little surprise on the inside and wanted to make them to demonstrate at the Stampadelicious group meeting last month. So, a BIG THANK YOU to Brenda at Qbee's Quest for this fun idea!!!

They really are so cute.  Each box is about 1" square!  And when you open them....

Here is how I made my boxes...

1. Cut a Basic Black strip of card stock to 4-3/4" x 1-1/8" for each box you want to make. 

2. Score the Basic Black strip at 1-1/8", 2-1/4", 3-3/8", 4-1/2"

3. Using the Petal Card Double Punch, punch out 1 from Basic Black Card stock, this will be the bottom of your box. Punch another out of card stock that will coordinate with your Designer paper, this will be the lid.

4. Using Sticky Strip or Multipurpose Glue (green glue) adhere one petal of the bottom punch piece to one square of the box strip, continue doing this on the remaining 3 sides.

5. Adhere the last flap of the box, completing the box.

6. Cut 4 one inch squares of Designer Paper, I used Frightful Sight (#122351).  Adhere these to your box.

7. Punch out one Postage Stamp from Basic Black Card stock and adhere this to your lid piece.

8. Cut a 3" piece of Basic Black Grosgrain Ribbon and a 1/4" x 2-1/4" piece of window sheet. 

9. Using a paper piercer poke a hole in the center of you lid. Add the window sheet strip to the bottom and the ribbon (folded in half) to the top, piercing a hole in each.  Secure with a brad, closing it on the top side of the lid, as we will cover that with the stamped image.  Adhere one petal of the lid to box.

10. Stamp your Halloween image with Versamark ink on card stock that coordinates with your Designer Paper and emboss it with Black powder.

11. Punch your image out with the 1" circle punch and mount to the top of you lid with a dimensional. 

12. Stamp the word "BOO" from Spooky Bingo Bits with Versamark Ink on Basic Black card stock and emboss with White embossing powder.  Punch this out with the 1" circle  punch and adhere to the end of the window sheet strip with sticky strip, so it is facing out. 

13. Adhere a Starburst or other small wrapped candy to the back of the window sheet strip with sticky strip. Close box, you might have to shake it a bit to get the candy inside the box. 

When the recipient opens the box "BOO" will pop out at them and they will get a little sweet treat too!!! 

They are so fun and cute you will want to make a bunch of them!

The Tale of Two Make and Takes

Welcome Stampin' Friends! 

What a busy week, are you all getting ready to send kids back to school?  We are gearing up for a new year of homeschool!  So, I feel like I am going back to school too!  I remember the mixed feelings of being excited and not wanting summer to ever end!  

Another thing that kept me busy this week was the Business Builders Meeting that my group of demonstrators holds each month, this was my month to host.  It was a great meeting, the topic was Profitable Blogging, it think it was a great meeting!  

The two make and take projects we did were blog inspired!  One a direct CASE and the other inspired from a card on someones blog. Let's take a look!!!

Don't you love this card, when I first saw it I might have freaked out a little bit!  The clouds!!!!!  To make them use some circle punches!  We used the 1",3/4" and 1/2" circle punches, punched from the side of the  Whisper White to make the clouds, you can make them any size, shape and any direction you want them!  I LOVE IT!  Thanks to Heather Klump for this amazing card, this is an exact CASE of her card!  I was so glad it use my new stamp set I got at convention, Easy Events (#123225), I am really starting to love this set! 

Make and Take Card #2

This make and take was provided by another demonstrator in my group Pat Dion.  She found a card on a blog that inspired her to make this Halloween treat!

This card uses a new stamp set from the upcoming Holiday Mini Catalog called "Out on a Limb", you are going to love this set!  It will be available for purchase on September 1st.  

Pat also used the new Houndstooth Embossing Folder (#123134) which you can order now!  Isn't it so fun! Not to mention that Calypso Coral Ruffled Ribbon (#122976).  I thought the color combination was great!  Perftect Plum, Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight!  A great new color combination for Halloween!

It's OWL business around here!

Welcome Stampin' Friends!!!

Tomorrow is my daughter, Hannah's, 3rd Birthday Party.  You may remember the invitation I shared with you a few weeks ago, if not, I will tell you that our party theme is Owls!  My daughter is is love with this owl that I made her and so I decided we should have an Owl Themed Birthday Party!!!  

Today I wanted to share with you the Birthday Banner and Party Favors!  

I know it's hard to see so far away, so I took some close ups...

I used the new Perfect Pennants Die (#123126) for both the Chocolate Chip Pennant and the Pumpkin Pie pennant.  I *LOVE* it because you can make a long banner, like mine "happy 3rd birthday", and it is not too long!  

In this photo you can see how I stamped the largest pennant with the Woodgrain Background stamp (#117100) and the smaller pennant with the A to Z background stamp (#115711).  I was so thrilled with how it came out, it is subtle but, as I always say....Love is in the details!   

The flower accents were done using the Blossom Party Die (#115971).  I added some Chunky Glitter to the center (retired).  

Isn't she so cute!!!!!  I stamped the owl image from the Punch Bunch set (retired) in Versamark ink and embossed it with Melon Mambo Emboss Powder (#123223).  Then I colored the belly with my Chocolate Chip Marker (#100071)!  A brown tummy with pink polka dots, YUMMY!  All the large letters and the number 3 were die cut out of Melon Mambo Prints Paper, which comes in a pack (#117155) with all the other Brights Colors!

I love this banner, the colors, the owls, everything about it makes me happy.  

How about the Owl party favors!!!  They make me smile too! 

Cello Bag (#103104) toppers, it can not get easier than that! I know they look a little sad for a party, but I could not resist!  

Punch Art is so much fun! You can see I just layered circles for my owl's eyes and layered that on a scallop circle.  The beak is one petal from the 5-Petal Flower Punch (#119880), the owl body is die cut with Top Note Die (#113463).

Princess Party

Yesterday was my daughter Samantha's 6-1/2 birthday.  Her birthday is 2 weeks before Christmas, so we have a party for her and her friends on her half birthday, it works great for us.  On her actual birthday, we have a special day for her with just family.  I wanted to share with you some of the cute creations from the party! 

We decided to do a princess party because I bought the Princess Party kit that SU! retired and was then on the Clearance Rack.  It had GREAT stuff in it.  Banners, invitations, kits to make crowns, party favor purses, cupcake toppers!  It was awesome!  Here is a close up of the cupcakes, with topper from the kit and I also used my Perfect Setting XL die (#115961, which is retiring on 6/30!) for the cupcake wrapper. 

And now my FAVORITE creation of the day, the Birthday card I made for my daughter...

Don't you LOVE that castle!!! What a perfect use of the Spiral Border Punch (#119872, which is also RETIRING on 6/30!)  I was inspired to make a castle card by two that I saw on my blog surfing, the first was by Kirsty Brown and the second by Dawn Olchefske, who's castle was actually a SAND castle!!! 

You can tell just by looking how to make the bigger parts of the castle but I wanted to show you how I created the single towers.  Punch your card stock with the Spiral Border Punch across the top. I found it easier if I pre-cut the card stock to the length I wanted the tower to be before I punched it. Then I took a piece of card stock and cut it to 3/8" strip, which is the width of a tower.  Put some Dotto (#103305) on the back of the strip.  Then stick that to your punched piece, as shown here...

Then use the strip as your guide to cut out your tower.  And since I used Dotto, the strip peals right off when I am done and I can use it on the other towers as well. 

Here is what I used for the rest of the elements on the card: 

FLAGS - XL Star Punch (#119875, retiring 6/30), I cut the ends or points off the star to create the flags. The flag poles are just a tiny strip of paper that I cut off with my Tabletop Paper Cutter            (# 106959). 

Windows - 1/4" square punch (retired), but you could just cut 1/4" squares.

Grass - Pinking Hearts Border Punch (#118072)

Clouds - Cupcake Builder Punch (#121807)

Sun - 1-3/4" Scallop Circle Punch (#119854), punch a scallop circle then stick that to a post it note and punch that again, so that you are punching into each scallop, creating the outer part of the sun.  For the inner part of the sun use the 1-3/8" Circle punch (#119860).

Door - 1-3/8" x 5/8" Oval Punch (#119863, retiring 6/30), punch an oval out of Chocolate Chip Patterns DSP (#117157) and cut it in half to create a door. 

NOTE: I sponged (#101610) all my punched images, except the clouds, windows and door, before mounting them to the card.  I like the look it gives the finished piece, it adds some dimension.

Dinosaur Punch Card

I wanted to show you the CUTE dinosaur card I made for a little 4 year old boys birthday.  I got the idea from Sam Post, she had a very similar punched dinosaur which inspired me to make this card...

He is so cute, huh!  I thought a 4 year old dinosaur needed a Jumbo cupcake for his birthday!  I also used the Build a Cupcake punch  #121807 for the clouds!  It really is a great punch!  The hills are just textured Old Olive cardstock that is torn and sponged.  I used the Texture Plates #4  #114531 kit to give the dinosaur it's textured skin. Once the shapes were punched I ran the Pumpkin Pie inkpad over the Pumpkin Pie Card stock to add some color, giving it a little more dimension.  

I like making punch art cards for boys birthdays since I do not have a lot of boy stamps, have 2 girls I do not buy that many boy sets, but I sure do put my punches to work!  Here is the cards I made for the same boy last year!  I just can't live with out my punches! 

RECIPE: 

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes

Ink: Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight

Paper: Bashful Blue, Old Olive, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight

Tools: 

Oval Extra Large Punch - dino body and tail (after punching I just cut my tail to be the shape I wanted)

Oval Large Punch (1-3/4" x 7/8") - head

Oval Large Punch (1-3/8" x 5/8") - legs (punch two and cut them in half to make 4 legs)

Boho Blossom Punch - end of tail and scales along back

1/4" Circle Punch (retired, but you could use the largest circle that the Crop-a-Dile punches) - toes and one for behind the wiggly eye. 

Build-a-Cupcake punch - for cupcake and clouds

Sponge - for edge of hills, all other inking was done directly with the stamp pad on the dinosaur's body and on the edge of the Daffodil Delight scales. 

Accessories: Wiggly eyes, Dimensionals

Owl Dressed Up!

Are you ready for another of my projects from the Stampadelicious Group Meeting demonstration?  I am pretty sure this one is my Favorite! I was so excited to have a stamp that matched my Owl Punch.  And I wanted to demo using the Punch with the stamp set, since I had already demoed using the punch with out the stamps and using the stamps with out the punch. 

Do you see her super cute dress and diamond necklace!!!!! I got that idea from Carrie Gaskin, THE Artistic Avenger!!!  Love her work! I got the sketch from Got Sketch.  Isn't it a fun sketch!  

This is how I made her dress....

I stamped my first owl on Whisper White after inking the stamp with Real Red and Blushing Bride Markers.  I punched that out with the matching Two-Step Owl Punch.

Next, I punched one owl in Real Red ink and one in Blushing Bride ink. Punch out only the belly part of the image using the belly part of the punch.  It will not punch it out exactly, you will have to trim off the sides with your paper snips. 

To make the layers of the dresses, I trimmed an 1/8" off the bottom of the red layer and then curled and ruffed up the edge of that, glue it on top of the main owl.  Then, trim 1/4" off the bottom of the Blushing Bride layer, curl and ruff up the bottom of that layer as well. Glue it on top of the red layer, matching all layers at the top.  Then, using your Basic Rhinestone Jewels or Pearls, cut off a strip of 5 and create a necklace for your owl.  Don't forget to give her eyelashes with the writing tip of a coordinating marker. 

For the Whisper White Label piece, I used the Table Setting Die and the piece that can be used as a napkin ring.  I cut out two of them.  One of them I cut the end off of.  I then used that as a stencil and traced it on my whole piece, so that I could cut off the ends and make a smaller label.  I repeated this same step on the other end, completing my shorter label with the same decorative ends as the original long piece.

Accessories: Real Red Taffeta Ribbon, Basic Rhinestone Jewels

Create more than Cupcakes!

Let me start at the beginning... When my husband saw this project:

That we made at my January Club, he said, that could be popcorn, pointing at the cupcake!  My downline Patty was over as we were planning our club projects together, we looked at each other, seeing the idea bloom in our minds.  Then we gave him a polite, um could you stop having better ideas than the demonstrators, look!  This is not the first time he has had an idea that I then turned into a card that I LOVE!  I can't believe it but I never posted the Owl card he inspired, watch for that soon!!!

So, Patty and I got together another day to make this POPCORN card!  She wanted to make them for her swap for our upcoming meeting, it's on Monday, so all you Stampadelicious girls out there, you can look forward to this card for your swap!!!

 

Isn't it super cute!  We thought you could attach a gift card for the movies to the pull out part of this pocket card!  What really make it look like popcorn is the little pieces on top which were created with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack (#118309).

 

Use the  middle punch, which is a flower, OR buttery pieces of POPCORN!  

The base Popcorn piece was made with the Create a Cupcake XL punch (#121807).

Just punch out the cupcake top from Whisper White Card stock and sponge the edge with Daffodil Delight Ink. 

The Popcorn tub was made using the coordinating stamp set, Create a Cupcake (#121982).

Use the cupcake liner stamp with lines, stamp it in Real Red ink on Whisper White card stock and then punch it out.  The assemble the pieces to create your tub of Movie Popcorn!
