Happy April! I am really looking forward to spring weather and more outdoor activities, there are so many to choose from here in Boise, ID! But they all come second to my favorite indoor activity: STAMPIN'!
I thought I would share with you all one of the cards that we made at my March Card Maker's Club.
It uses the Chalkboard technique. It is a very simple technique and requires only a few materials. You will need a white craft pad, Stampin' Pastels, sponge daubers and Swiffer Cloth.
I stamped the flourish image from Baroque Motifs on Chocolate Chip Cardstock, but any dark cardstock will work great, with White Craft ink.. Then I picked up some Certainly Celery pastels with a sponge dauber and in a tapping motion applied it to my stamped image. When the image is completely chalked use your swiffer cloth to buff off the excess chalk. Then I stamped the small flower image, also with White Craft and applied Cameo Coral chalk in the same way as before. Use the swiffer cloth one last time to buff off the excess chalk. At first I did not think this Swiffer Cloth was necissary, but it works so great a leaving a crisp image behind and not a cloudy image. So, I recommend that step for the best results.
I learned this technique from www.splitcoaststampers.com . You can see their gallery of Chalkboard cards here.
For the focal image; I stamped it with versamark and embossed it with heat and stick powder. The I sprinkled that with the green cosmo glitter. Lastly, I heat set it so that the glitter is there to stay. The glittered image is cut out and mounted with demensionals.
To accessorize my card I added some Chocolate Taffeta Ribbon. Here is the exact card that inspired my creation. I hope you have fun with this technique. Pull out some of your more solid images and try it out. I would love to see your creations. Feel free to email me a photo or scan and I just might post it on my blog!
Happy Stampin'
