Demo Day Highlights

HI!  I tried to post this last night, but was having trouble uploading all the pictures.  Demo Day was a blast!  I loved spending time with my fellow demonstrator friends.  The demonstrations were nothing short of AMAZING! The make and takes rocked.  Lunch was great.  I took a bunch of pictures of it all to share with you.  I added notes on the pictures, hopefully you will be able to read them when this posts.  I thought I would try it and see how it worked.  Sorry if there are type-o's, I was editing and typing with a sleeping baby on my shoulder.  She would not have any part of my laying her down after being held by many loving SU! demonstrators yesterday!

Stampin' with the Girls

Yesterday was lots of fun.  I went to a friends house for a play date, the kids played and us Mom's stamped!  There are 3 of us.  So, I wanted to share with you the two cards that Lisa and Jen prepared.  You can see the card I planned on this post.

      Here is Jen's Card. The background is the cupcake from the Sock Monkey set, stamped in Versamark and embossed with clear powder.  It gives it a shinny fun background.  So, if you know me, you know I have a THING for pink and brown!  So, you throw in the sock monkey and we have a winner in my book!

Lisa wanted to make some masculine cards, here is her masculine birthday card with a western flare:

      I love this layout. I will definitely use this one again. And now I have a great masculine birthday  card on hand when the occasion arises.  It will be perfect for my biological Dad who is a REAL cowboy!  Thanks Lisa!

I am so excited, tomorrow my Stampin' Family is having an all day event.  Demo Day is filled with tons of demonstrations of all that is new, make and take projects, swaps, lunch, prizes and hangin out with friends!  So, watch out for pictures of that fun day, coming soon!

Sanded Texturz

  You have to try this!  Take a piece of Patterns Designer Paper, the piece that has no pattern on one side, it is a solid color, Kraft in this case. Run it through your big shot and the texturz plate of your choice.  When it emerges, take your sanding block to it and begin to sand off the top layer of the embossed surface.  It reveals the white core of the paper!  It is super easy!  Here is the card I created with my sanded piece.  I just added some fun accessories, taffeta ribbon, pretties flowers and pearls, paper piercing and a glittered bird cut from the Birds and Blooms Sizzlits die!  Here is a close up:

 

Okay, so right now, stop blurffing and go try this. What, you don't have your texturz plates, well now you know what you are getting on your next Stampin' Up! order.

Loads of Love for him

This is the Valentines Card I made for my husband.  Most of my masculine sets retired and so I thought of this set.  I have not used it in a while, but totally love it. I stamped the truck with hearts in the bed on the mat of confetti white and then again with the dogs in the bed on a separate piece of confetti white.  I water-colored the hearts, truck and dogs with my Many Marvelous Markers and an Aqua painter.  I cut out the truck with the dogs and mounted it over the top of the first truck, giving it a 3-D effect.  The DSP I used is from the retired Summer Picnic set, so versatile!  And the background of my card is stamped with Canvas using Sahara Sand ink.  I like the simple and clean look of this card. I got the lay out idea from the catalog!  A project that is not masculine and not even a card.  I found it on page 71.  

Tomorrow my daughter has a play date and us Mom's are going to do some stamping.  The theme is masculine birthday cards.  So, I thought I would modify this card and make it a birthday card.  So, here is the card we will be making:

                                                  

No cutting in this version, I did not think the dogs would go as well with the presents, too busy.  Again I used the Summer Picnic DSP.

So, I can not wait to stamp tomorrow, I will share with you what we make, they are talented stampers, I am quite proud as they are my customers and friends!

Just Playin'

  Do you ever make something and want to run to someone and say... LOOK WHAT I MADE!  Only you know your husband will just give you the sympathy "yeah, nice" and your children will look at you like "mom are you crazy?"  Well, that is why I have a blog.  So I can run and share my creations with someone(s) who care! 

Here is a card I made just cause I wanted to try brayering my texturz plate with ink and then running some paper through with it!  Well, the ink is a little blotchy in parts but it gave it a cool look! 

I also added dots at the points where the diamonds meet with my white gel pen, creating a fun and cute background. 

If you look close can you see my velum sweetest stem embossed die cut!

Another detail you might not be able to see is that I embossed the "thank you" with Iridescent Ice powder!  With the final addition of the hat pin and beads from the Pretties Kit, I was pleasantly surprised how this card came together with a elegant flare.
