I love Valentines, what a perfect time of year to make cards for those you care about. There are lots of fun colors to use and not to mention cute new stamps and designer papers!!! So, I wanted to share with you the Hinged cards I made using the Scallop Square die. I have seen these done before and since the Scallop Square die was new to me I had to try my hand at them!!!
This is how the card looks closed. It takes 3 scalloped squares to make this card. Here is what it looks like when you open it. And inside is a fun little Vday gift....
A GIFT CARD!!! The top Scalloped Square is folded in half and attached with a jumbo brad. The bottom two Scallop Squares are dry embossed and then I cut off just the top row of scallops. Next you want to glue the three side together to create a pocket. When that is dry attach your top piece, lining up the scallops before you punch the hole for the brad.
The DSP I used is the Sending Love Specialty DSP, as you can see it has glitter right on it! The large glittered flower looked more like Blush Blossom to me than Pretty in Pink, so that is the color of cardstock I used here.
Now, you have to see my faux button:
The button is made using the NEW Small Heart punch. I punched out 5 cardstock hearts in Blush Blossom and then cut one out of my glittery DSP. I glue all of them together using my Tombow Liquid glue. Next, I sanded the edges with a sanding block. Lastly, to give it the button look, pierce holes in it with your paper piercer and add some thread. If you do not use glittery paper you would want to give the top layer a coating of Crystal Effects to give it a real button look.
After I made this card I wanted to make a Birthday HInge card!!!
In this photo you can really see the Shimmer Spray I spritzed on there, at first I did not like the photo, the flash really caught the shimmer, but then I thought, well, at least you can see the shimmer! Here is this card open:
To hinge this card I used a pumpkin pie brad. The bottom of the card is the SAB DSP and the flower is made with the same DSP, here you can see it closer:
Isn't that a cute flower! Stay tuned and I will tell you how to make them. It involves the scallop circle punch, pop up glue dots and scissors. I actually have two versions to show you! So, come back WEDNESDAY!
Happy Stampin'
