Well, as promised I have a tutorial for the paper flower I made on yesterday's card. Here is another version of the flower, my favorite! I was inspired to make this paper flower by Jennifer Ingericks' flower brooch. Thanks Jennifer!!!
I named it the Scrunchie Flower because what makes it look so good is how you scrunch it up.
I have created a step by step photo tutorial for you so that you can recreate this cute Scrunchie Flower for your paper crafting projects!
Here is what you need:
Scallop Circle Punch
ELEVEN scallop circle punched out of Designer paper. I did mine all the same ( I just turned one over for this picture.)
THREE Pop Up Glue Dots
Scissors
STEP 1
Scrunch up each scalloped circle by wading it up into a ball and then open it. If you want it to be more scrunchie repeat this as many times as you like to get the desired look.
STEP 2
Fold 10 of the scallop circles into triangles, by folding it in half and then in half again. You do not want to line them up exactly when folding.
STEP 3
Add a Pop Up Glue dot to the center of the 1 scallop circle that you did not fold up.
Add your triangles one at a time, laying it on the glue dot and pressing it in slightly. Add the second triangle so that the open sides of each triangle face each other. You want open ends together and folded ends together. So, the first layer will end up with four triangles:
You can see they are opening up a little, we want that, it makes it fuller in the end. You do not want to use the bone folder on the folds for this project.
STEP 4
Add your second Pop Up glue dot to the center of layer one and add four more triangles. This time when you lay them down stager them so that they cover the seams of layer one. You still want to lay them so that the open ends are together and the folds are together.
STEP 5
Add your final Pop Up Glue dot the the center of layer two. Snip the corners off your last two remaining triangles and discard the tips. I know some of you are thinking DISCARD, okay, save them and use them in another project! Or, if you have an obscene amount of scraps, you really should recycle them.
STEP 6
Press the flat end of one triangle into the center of the glue dot but leaving room for the last triangle. When you mount the last triangle, put it on in the opposite direction of the first, so that an open end is next to a fold.
STEP 7
SCRUCH, SCRUNCH, SCRUNCH! Until you get the desired look.
For a last little something extra I like to spritz mine with Shimmer Paint ( mix 5 drops of shimmer paint with 1 oz of alcohol). Don't get it too wet! The adhere it to your project, use another Pop Up Glue dot or Tombow Liquid glue. Have fun making your Scrunchie Flower!
BONUS: VERSION 2
Now, if you want to make the version I made in yesterday's post, here is what you do. Instead of scrunching the flowers in Step 2, you snip in between each scallop about 1/2', then repeat all the remaining steps to complete!

Carrie, this is so cool. An added bonus for me is that the folding shouldn't be precise, which is perfect for me and my customers.
