Halloween Decore

Halloween is tomorrow!  Are you ready?  I think we are, but not excited that it might be raining, trunk or treat is not the same in the rain!  

I have several pictures to share with you of my Halloween Decor that I created with my Spooky Things Decor Elements (#120909 $14.95). 

The first thing I made was a Luminary that I saw demonstrated at convention in July...

The Decor spider is applied to Vellum Card stock (#101856).  I cut two pieces of the Nite Owl Designer Paper (#123012) to 6 x 10-1/4, score both at 5 and 10 inches.  I cut on opening in one piece with the Top Note Die (#113463), then adhere the panels together with Sticky Strip (#104294).  I added a ruffle of our new Waffle Paper (#120985) around the top adhering it with Snail (#104332).  Lastly I added a Black Designer Jewel (#120987). I set a battery operated tea light inside and it is super cool! 

Next I jazzed up some inexpensive dishes to serve Halloween treats in...

First I did the plate with the Raven, love it and then I got to thinking about the little spider and went back to the store and got the matching bowl...

How fun to find that at the end of your snack! 

Lastly I made some framed art...

I love this one!  I spray painted a frame I had with black paint, after it dried I spritzed it with Silver Foil (#118771) and Vanilla Shimmer (#118772) Smooch spritz.  I adhered the Decor image to the glass, SIMPLE!  The background is a sheet of designer paper from the Nite Owl pack (#123012), it is white with the black tree image.  I laid down a white  1-3/8" circle (#119850) then brayered (#102395) down ink the the following order, Pumpkin Pie (#105216), Cajun Craze (#119671) and Cherry Cobbler (#119669). Then I removed the circle to reveal a Moon! Then I popped up some Bats (#119279) that were punched out and sprizted with Silver Foil Smooch.  I put it all together and hung it up!  It is awesome! 

Lastly I wanted to share with you my Halloween Simply Adorned charm that my friend Britiney made for me.

Isn't it cute!!!  She drew the spider web!!!  The spider she made with the Black Designer Jewels (#120987), she drew the legs and then added the eyes with the Signo White Gel pen (#105021).  She stamped the "Happy Halloween" in Pumpkin Pie.  I added the Flourish background from the Friends 24-7 set (#113218), inked in Rich Razzleberry ink, stamped on scratch paper first and then on the charm insert, so that the ink was lighter.  Love it!  I am going to wear it again today!  I have the perfect Razzleberry colored shirt to wear with it, that is why I added the flourish!

Over the Roof Tops

I found the cutest card on Tammy Q Howell's blog where she used the negative piece of card stock from a row of punched out ornaments as roof tops to make a card with a roof top scene.  She made a halloween card, it was so cute and inspired me to create a roof top card of my own.

 

To make the roof top, take a piece of 5" x 2-3/8" (this is the size I used for my card) and punch the top of the ornament punch four times in a row, making them go in an curve if you want this "on a hill" look. I found it took me a few tries to get it exactly how I wanted.  Then to make the windows and doors I used the four petal flower punch from the Itty Bitty punch pack, cut off three of the petals to make a door and use the cut off petals for the windows. 

I had to get creative with Santa and the reindeer, as I do not have this stamp, so I used MDS and printed the sleigh image right on to Whisper White Card stock!  Then I laid down a 1-1/4" circle mask and brayered Not Quite Navy to create the night time sky.

The houses really needed some snow, so I added that using Liquid Applique, wish Stampin' Up! still sold this fun stuff!

The saying is from the Just Believe stamp set which really is not a Christmas set at all, but this saying begs to be put with Santa cards!

The ribbon is retired, but I had some left and loved how it looked!

I loved this card so much I had my club ladies make it this month, I think they loved it too! I have to say a big thanks to Tammy for the great idea!

Daddy's Birthday

Daddy's Birthday, is what my 2 year old was saying all day last Sunday, she has come to learn what Birthday's are and that it comes with Birthday Cake!

 These girls really helped make it a fun birthday! By the way my husband did not turn three (although I do catch a glimpse of the little boy trapped in side this grown up body from time to time)  I did not think to buy candles, as you might have guessed since the ones on his cake are PINK, oops.  

What I really wanted to share with you is the card and gift bag I made for my hubby.

Isn't it cute!  I love it!  I was really having a hard time thinking of what I was going to make since I don't have a bunch of masculine stamp sets.  That is when I thought to use my Serif Essentials Alphabet Dies (#113464), I am not sure if you can tell in the picture but I textured the letters and the owl's body with the wood grain like plate from Texture Plates Kit #4 (#114531).  

And don't you just love the new owl punch!  Well, here is a TIP FOR YOU...  use the HEART from this punch as a beak!  That is what I did here, it shows up better and is a little bigger than if you use nothing.  

I also made a matching gift bag that was SO easy!

 It was so easy because I used the Plate Date Quick Accents (#117172) for the strips directly on the bag.
 I cut them to the right length on my paper cutter then stuck them to the bag, I love that they are self adhesive.  The Owl is from tag from the reusable shopping bags that I purchased at convention!  I mounted him to the bag with dimensionals and added a party hat to cover the hole in his head from where the string was to attach him to the shopping bag.  The hat is from the Sock Monkey set (#111550), that monkey shares his accessories so well.

I hope this inspires you to make some masculine cards using what you have.
