I simply adore this...

The Simply Adorned line from Stampin' Up!  is so very fun!  I do adore it.  I have had so much fun creating personalized charm inserts for holidays and to go with a specific outfit.  Here is the charm insert that I demonstrated at the Stampadelicious Group Meeting last Monday. 

I used the new Clearly for You Stamp #121976 set from the Occassions Mini Catalog.  I thought it would make a cute Valentines Charm.

To make this charm I inked the background image with Basic Gray ink, stamped it off on background paper and then onto my 1' x 1-1/2" whisper white paper.  Then I stamped "amour" in Real Red ink, diagonally.  Next I stamped the cherub in Basic Black ink and punched it out with the medium heart on the Heart to Heart Punch.  I sponged the edges of the heart with Basic Gray ink and mounted this onto the charm insert. Across the bottom of the charm I added a small strip of torn Basic Black Card Stock. Next, I added a black rhinestone, I had a few left over from the Holiday Mini Catalog, sorry these are no longer available for purchase. Lastly, I glued a tiny bow made of white string to the top, left corner of the heart, it seemed a little bear.  I also, like to make sure to add something to the backside, because when you wear this necklace it flips over.  So, I stamped something very similar for the backside.

Milk Carton Holder

Welcome Stampin' Friends! 

Today I have a cute project to show you that I shared during my demonstration at the Stampadelicious Group meeting on Monday night.  I did not demonstrate this as I already had 5 other projects, but I brought it to show. 

This is a holder for the milk cartons made out of the Fancy Favor Die. I had seen it before and have really wanted to make one.  The trick is to cut out part of the box and then assemble so that you can see the milk cartons. Here is how I do it...

Before I even begin, let me start by telling you that I have stared writing on my die with a painty pen the smallest size of paper I will need to cut out the die.  For the Fancy Favor, it is 11x5.  Here is how I make that work.

Line one end up with the edge of the box, the other end will not cut out the entire end flap, making the flap that you put sticky strip on smaller, but just the right size for sticky strip, it works great.  So, if you don't have 12x12 paper, don't let that limit you when using this die! 

Then when it is all die cut you only have a small strip at the top and bottom to remove.  I would save the top piece to use as a border on another project (like this one).

Now you want to cut away the piece from the front of the box...

I took a ruler and measured diagonally first, from the top of the side panel of the box down to about the middle of the front panel, trace this line with a pencil.

Draw a line from that point across the front panel to the intersecting score line of the second side panel.

Draw a line from that point to the top corner of the second side panel.  

Cut this piece away and save it, to use as a pattern for the second box. 

For the handle you will need a piece of matching or coordinating card stock that measures 3" x 6-1/2". 

Now you can put your box together, before you put the sticky strip on the small flap, you will want to snip the top of the flap at an angle or it will stick out when you put your box together. 

For the handle, I cut the heart out of the handle with my Movers and Shapers Die, using the heart piece. Because, if I would have punched with the Full Heart Punch the heart would be upside down.  This is how to get the heart right side up...

Place the magnetic heart at the top of the die, in the center, as seen in the picture above.

Lay your card stock so that the top of it is flush with the edge of the opening on the die.  Now run it through, using the Crease Pad on top so as not to cut the paper where it overlaps the crease line on the die.  Your paper will come out with a crease line, but that is okay because this piece will be sandwiched between your two boxes. 

Corner round the top two corners and your ready to assemble and decorate! 

Please note, that when you get your milk cartons in Fancy Favor Box, they will sit very snug side by side, but there will be extra room in front or in back of them depending on how you sit them in the box. So, plan accordingly when embellishing your milk cartons.

Owl Dressed Up!

Are you ready for another of my projects from the Stampadelicious Group Meeting demonstration?  I am pretty sure this one is my Favorite! I was so excited to have a stamp that matched my Owl Punch.  And I wanted to demo using the Punch with the stamp set, since I had already demoed using the punch with out the stamps and using the stamps with out the punch. 

Do you see her super cute dress and diamond necklace!!!!! I got that idea from Carrie Gaskin, THE Artistic Avenger!!!  Love her work! I got the sketch from Got Sketch.  Isn't it a fun sketch!  

This is how I made her dress....

I stamped my first owl on Whisper White after inking the stamp with Real Red and Blushing Bride Markers.  I punched that out with the matching Two-Step Owl Punch.

Next, I punched one owl in Real Red ink and one in Blushing Bride ink. Punch out only the belly part of the image using the belly part of the punch.  It will not punch it out exactly, you will have to trim off the sides with your paper snips. 

To make the layers of the dresses, I trimmed an 1/8" off the bottom of the red layer and then curled and ruffed up the edge of that, glue it on top of the main owl.  Then, trim 1/4" off the bottom of the Blushing Bride layer, curl and ruff up the bottom of that layer as well. Glue it on top of the red layer, matching all layers at the top.  Then, using your Basic Rhinestone Jewels or Pearls, cut off a strip of 5 and create a necklace for your owl.  Don't forget to give her eyelashes with the writing tip of a coordinating marker. 

For the Whisper White Label piece, I used the Table Setting Die and the piece that can be used as a napkin ring.  I cut out two of them.  One of them I cut the end off of.  I then used that as a stencil and traced it on my whole piece, so that I could cut off the ends and make a smaller label.  I repeated this same step on the other end, completing my shorter label with the same decorative ends as the original long piece.

Build a Blossom, but don't punch it!

I am back with another creation that I demonstrated at the Stampadelicious Group Meeting on Monday night.  For this card I wanted to show how you can use the Build a Blossom Stamp set with out using the coordinating punch. 

Okay, I have always got excited about my hand stamped creations, even when I was brand new to the craft and my card were only good for kindling, but I LOVE THIS CARD!  It might be one of those cards that will never see the inside of an envelope.  What do I love about it, THE FAUX BUTTONS!  All the buttons on this card were created with the Sweet Buttons Embosslit Die.  I die cut them in matching card stock and then embossed the entire surface with Versamark ink and clear powder, add them to your card with dimensionals!  This embosslit not only cuts out the button for you but embosses the pattern into the paper as well!  Now you can have buttons in ANY color you want ANY time you want!

Cupcakes for Valentines Day!

These Fat Free, High Fiber cupcakes are the perfect treat for a valentine hoping to avoid extra calories! 

They are so cute you might just be able to resist the real thing!  

This card was one of the items I demonstrated at the Stampadelicious Group Meeting on Monday night.  I wanted to show how you can use the new punches with out the stamp set.  It is a great stand alone punch, so many possibilities!  And, the fact that it has a matching stamp set, is awesome! Valentine Mail Box

Hi There!  Today I am going to share with you one of the projects that I demonstrated at the Stampadelicious Group Meeting on Monday.  I found this cute mail box project on Kimberley Morris' blog. She has a link to a downloadable pattern.  I have wanted to make a valentines mail box for a long time and knew I had to make this when I saw it.

I really like how it turned out.  I also made a card to match that fits inside.  I do not have a picture of it, because I gave it away at the meeting.  All the projects that I demo each month are the prize for the card swap winner!  However, I used the Scallop Envelope Die and my Big Shot to make an envelope and a cute little valentine card to fit inside it.

When I made mine I enlarged the pattern, I printed it out at 110%.  If you do that, some of the pattern maybe cut off when you print it, so here are the measurements for the pieces that are effected. 

Main or Top of mailbox= 5-1/2" x 4-1/8"

Base = 2-3/4" x 4-1/8", score at 3/8" on both sides (on the long side)

Flag = 3-1/4" x 1-1/4", fold in half

The back piece and the door should print out just fine and these are the pieces you can not cut with a paper cutter any how.  Here is the Recipe:

THIS is the Owl Card

Did you read my last post "Create more that Cupcakes" ?  In that post I mentioned on of my favorite cards, and it was inspired by an idea my husband had!  This is the story of that  card...

You can see how the card opens in the middle, the top flap opens up and the bottom flap opens down.  My downline Patty and I were very pleased with this card and so we showed my husband, see how cool it is and how it opens....

My husband says, You should make it so the owl stays on the inside of the card.  Well, as with the popcorn card, we were irritated, how does he always take our good ideas and think of something better!?  After that passed, we had to figure out how to do it.  So, here is the owl card, with the "Bill twist"...

What we did is, punch a whole in the Chocolate Chip Oval with the 1-3/4" circle punch.  Lay that down on the card where you want it to be when the card is complete, trace the circle with a pencil.  Pick up the brown oval, punch out the traced half circle from each side of the card front flaps.  You will want to punch it a hair bigger that what you traced so that no blue is showing.  Then you glue down your oval and frame, playing close attention to glue the oval only to the bottom half of the card and the frame only to the top half of the card.  Next, take your owl, mounted to a black circle.  With glue on the back, place it in the opening on the front of your card, to ensure perfect placement.  Now add your embellishments.  

I call it a Split Oval Window Card!  What do you think?  Pretty clever, I better keep DH around the stamp room for his good ideas!!!

Create more than Cupcakes!

Let me start at the beginning... When my husband saw this project:

That we made at my January Club, he said, that could be popcorn, pointing at the cupcake!  My downline Patty was over as we were planning our club projects together, we looked at each other, seeing the idea bloom in our minds.  Then we gave him a polite, um could you stop having better ideas than the demonstrators, look!  This is not the first time he has had an idea that I then turned into a card that I LOVE!  I can't believe it but I never posted the Owl card he inspired, watch for that soon!!!

So, Patty and I got together another day to make this POPCORN card!  She wanted to make them for her swap for our upcoming meeting, it's on Monday, so all you Stampadelicious girls out there, you can look forward to this card for your swap!!!

 

Isn't it super cute!  We thought you could attach a gift card for the movies to the pull out part of this pocket card!  What really make it look like popcorn is the little pieces on top which were created with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack (#118309).

 

Use the  middle punch, which is a flower, OR buttery pieces of POPCORN!  

The base Popcorn piece was made with the Create a Cupcake XL punch (#121807).

Just punch out the cupcake top from Whisper White Card stock and sponge the edge with Daffodil Delight Ink. 

The Popcorn tub was made using the coordinating stamp set, Create a Cupcake (#121982).

Use the cupcake liner stamp with lines, stamp it in Real Red ink on Whisper White card stock and then punch it out.  The assemble the pieces to create your tub of Movie Popcorn!

Thanks for Build-a-Blossom!

Today I wanted to share with you two Thank You cards that I made for two Stampin' Up! friends with the new Build-a-Blossom stamp set.

This was the first card I made with this set, what fun it is to stamp these petals and punch them out!  Apparently, I could not stop myself with the glitter, I love glitter! 

I thought I would try using the stamp set with out the punch.  I really like how it turned out.  I put a little Crystal Effects on the center of the flower.

And I wanted to share one last card, a 3x3 that turned out so cute! 

I think this one it my favorite!  I have not used the new In Color Concord Crush very much and so I decided to use it for this card.

Build a Vintage Card

Okay, I am hooked!  Check out this new Build a Blossom Stamp set and matching Punch! 

I have had so much fun playing with them!  Here is my favorite card I made so far! 

I started this card with a color combination in mind, Rose Red, Baja Breeze and Wild Wasabi, which I found on my Color Coach!  I then made my Rose Red Petals by stamping the image with Rose Red ink on Rose Red paper and then punching them out.  I did the second layer the same way with the smaller petal and Baja Breeze ink.  I layered them up, added some leaves and a button!  To make a vintage backgound I like to use texture, ink and distressing.   And to make this card have that extra something, I added rhinestones and some Smooch Spritz.

Homemade Christmas for my girls

 

Here are my girls on christmas morning under their Homemade Christmas gift!!! 

The girls got bunkbeds in August, which graduated Samantha from a toddler bed and Hannah from a crib and MOM and DAD's bed!  Yeah, so I had decided I would make the quilts for thier new beds for Christmas.  Keep in mind I have NEVER made a quilt!!! I am NOT a seamstress!!! But it is a new found hobby since the Big Shot.  Which is what I used to make this quilt.  My Scallop Square Die!  I die cut all the squares to make a Rag Quilt!  

It is so amazing that you can cut fabric with a die and your Big Shot!  And make a this....

I am so proud of my quilt and hope my girls enjoy it for years to come!  I do have one confession.... I only got one quilt made!  I will get the second one done SOON!   But for now Samantha uses the quilt that my grandma made for me, that I slept under when I was her age.  I think that brings her comfort! 

I also made some Rag Quilt purses for my sisters and my mother-in-law, but DID NOT take pictures, I am so mad at myself!  

I hope you are inspired to use your Big Shot for some fabric creations!

Homemade Christmas part 2

I am back with another homemade Christmas gift!  This is one I made for my Grandpa.  He is a COWBOY!  If he had a resume, that is what would be listed as his profession.  He loves to draw and creates the most wonderful western scenes.  I have a few of them.  Since I made a set of cards on My Digital Studio for my Grandma (see the post here), I wanted to make some for my Grandpa too. 

I scanned in the photos I had, resized them and printed them.  Then I made them into a set of simple and masculine cards. 

Both my Grandparents are very talented and creative.  I believe I got my creative side from them.  My grandma gave my girls both dolls for christmas and knitted or crocheted each doll 4 outfits, so cute!

Have you heard of Cake Pops?

Have you ever heard of Cake Pops?  If not you must go to the Queen of Cake Pops blog...www.bakerella.com.  They are cake and frosting mixed together, formed into a ball or shape and dipped into candy melt and decorated!!!  I am in love with them, my family is in love with them!  The first time I made them, was for my daughters birthday party at school.  At her school, they do all the birthdays for the month on one day, so I thought I would make a small treat instead of the full blown cupcake.  And they are so cute that you do not care that they are small.  Check them out...

Okay, mine are not as cute as Bakerella's, but it was my first try!  And, the taste made up for it! 

 

Here is the cutest 6 year old passing them out to her class! 

And the cutest 2 year old having a taste!

Hannah loves going with me to her Sister's class, we go about once a week, as I am the Art Mom.  I think it is good for her, preparing her for her turn to go to school!  

Anyhow, we loved the Cake Pop's so much that I made them for Christmas Eve!   We had my in laws over, ate appetizer foods and played games.  Cake Pops were one of the things I made.  One reason I made them was because Christmas Day is also my Brother in-laws bday!  

We made Red ones and Green ones.

I know this is not a paper crafting post, but chances are if you love to make things with paper, you like to make other things as well, just like me!  So, I just had to share my new favorite thing to make!

Homemade Christmas

I know, Christmas is OVER!!!!!  However, I made and gave every person at least one hand made gift for Christmas this year and I wanted to share the ones I got pictures of with you! 

This first one is a banner that I started on last year and never finished, I was then inspired to finish it by the Joy Banners that my friend Britiney was making.  

I made this for a gift exchange I my family did with our close friends.  I was really hoping I would end up with my own gift.  What you may not be able to see on this picture is that on each of the scallops I glued a red rhinestone.  And attached to each bow is a bell!  The red ribbon across the top is stitched to the banner!  The letters are Chipboard and I inked them with Whisper White ink and embossed them with a mix of White embossing powder and Iridescent Ice powder!  The brown circles behind each were embossed with the Northern Flurry Embossing Folder.  

Next is one of my FAVORITE items I made this year.....

It's a Wreath made of the Candy Cane Christmas DSP and the Candy Wrapper Die!  As well as a bunch of embellishments!  To make this wreath I made a base out of chip board.  I took a dinner plate and traced it and then a smaller plate and traced that in the middle of the larger circle, I cut this out; creating a wreath shape.  Then I made a second identical one and glued them together so that it would be stronger.  Then I made and decorated all my boxes and glued them to the wreath form.  To hang it I hot glued a paper clip in-between the two chipboard wreath shapes, leaving a little bit of it sticking out to hang on a nail.  I Loved this so much it was a Christmas gift to me!  I am defiantly going to make one for Halloween next year!

Club night

Tonight is my Stamp Club and I thought I would share the fun projects we are going to be making! 

 We will be making two Valentine Cards, I got the idea for this one from another demonstrator's blog, I am sorry I did not save the info to give you credit here!  The background is done using the Letter Press Plate, Lots of Love.  It is inked with a Versa Mark pad and then ran through the Big Shot.  I love the subtle look it creates. 

Here is the second Valentine card, I had in mind that this would be a masculine card, but think it could be for anyone.  I love Red and Turquoise together.  

Our next project is a Gift Tag and Bow!  I saw Heather Summers similar project and loved it so much I wanted to make them at my club!  I have made these bows before and what I love about them is that they are pretty easy to make, but add a great WOW to a wrapped gift!  The tag is made with the new Create a Cupcake set and matching punch from the new Occassions Mini Catalog. A CUPCAKE PUNCH, I know, it's crazy, I can not stand it!  

Lastly, we are making a Winter Scrapbook page, how perfect since it snowed here this morning!  Actually my club members get a choice, to make a 6x6 page or use the same supplies to make a 3x6 card!  It is fun and we all love having a choice in making what we like! I got the idea for the punched snowman from blog, again, I do not have the persons name.  I will have to make notes next time, I have a cold and it has zapped my brain!  

I am looking forward to some stamping fun with my club ladies tonight, stamping always makes me feel better, no matter what the ailment!
