Welcome Stampin' Friends!
I was so excited at convention this year to find out Stampin' Up! will be offering it's very own scoring system, the Simply Scored, as of Sept. 1st! Then when I was one of the lucky ones to actually WIN a Simply Scored at convention, I went a little crazy! Like a kid who actually gets a pony on Christmas! This is a product I have been wanting Stampin' Up! to carry for years now and I am so thrilled it has happend!
So, this past Saturday, our demonstrator group had it's montly creative meeting and I wanted to demo the Simply Scored. One of the coolest things to make with it are Paper Lollies! They are very popular right now!!! I saw them all over convention...
Donna Griffith shared this cute framed wreath that is a Paper Lolly!
There was THIS fabulous display of HUGE Paper Lollies on sticks, so cute!
A paper lolly on a Halloween card, yeah I might have to case that! (You can also find this card on page 26 of the current Idea Book/Catalog!)
And adorable Paper Lollies all over Carrie Cudney's Candy Banner.
For my paper lolly I knew I wanted to be on a card and that I wanted the card to be Christmas, mostly because I wanted to use my new stamp set Pines and Poinsettias (#123764, available September 1st).
Here is my card...
I knew for a paper lolly to work on a card front it could not be too thick, so here is how I made my paper lolly card front friendly...
1. Cut desired card stock, Always Artichoke(#105119) is the card stock I on my card, to 1" x12". Note: I used textured cardstock as it has a little more give and I needed that for this small lolly, designer paper would be great too.
2. Score the 1" x 12" strip every 1/4"
3. Accordian fold the scored strip.
4. Adhere the two ends together, I like Mulitpurpose Liquid glue (#110755) for this. You need to adhere a peak to a valley, which means you will need cut off one section most likely.
5.You will need a hot glue gun for this step!!! And a small circle of card stock to glue your lolly to. Put a small puddle of hot glue on the circle. Take your accordian folded strip who's ends are glued together and make it lay flat (it will fight you, but remember, you are the BOSS!). Carefully pick this up and press it into the hot glue. Hold it there till the hot glue dries, maybe 30 seconds.
6. You need to have something on the front of the lolly as well to help hold it in place, a button, a brad, a stamped image, etc. Hot glue this as well, or you can use dimensionals.
For this lolly, I pressed the Glimmer Brad (#121006) into the center of the lolly while the hot glue from underneath was still hot, as it was oozing out the top, perfect!
These are totally fun to make and the possiblities are endless, as far as size and colors, paper and toppers. Just have fun with it!

Gorgeous Christmas card and thank you for showing how to make the Paper lollies!!! Sadly we did not get the scoring board in our new catalogue - maybe next year?? It must be wonderful I think!
