Spooky, Creepy, Halloween Challenge

It's Wednesday, time for a Stampin' Royalty Challenge!  Challenge #95 is create something Spooky or Creepy or something for Halloween.  FUN! Well, mine is neither spooky or creepy, but is something fun for Halloween.  My daughter and I thought of this one together.  We love to create adorned headbands using the Big Shot and fabric.  So we decided we should make a Halloween headband for her to wear with her t-shirt that has Candy Corns on it. 

It was very simple to make, we made sure to put the felt in order; Largest flower yellow, medium flower orange and smallest flower white. Using hot glue to adhere our flower layers.  I happen to have these Halloween buttons on hand from another project years ago, so we hot glued the candy corn button to the center.  The flower die I used is retired, but you could use any flower die.  

Here is a tip when attaching your flower to the head band...

Hot glue the flower to the head band.

Die or hand cut a circle slightly smaller than your largest flower, apply hot glue to one side of the circle and stick that to the inside of the head back, under where you stuck the flower.

This will help hold the flower to the head band.  

Head bands with Big Shot flowers are a blast to make, so try some fabric with your Big Shot, you will love it!

Stampin' Royalty Challenge #94

This week's Challenge at Stampin' Royalty is a SKETCH CHALLENGE!!!  

I love sketches!  When I need inspiration to make a card I start looking for sketches and it always gets me started. 

Here is the sketch for this week's challenge. 

I love the scallops and buttons!  

Here is my Christmas version of this sketch...

I was also inspired by a gift box in the latest Stampin' Success Magazine (a monthly publication for Stampin' Up! Demonstrators).  The box used these colors; Pool Party, Real Red, Soft Suede and the Pines and Poinsettias stamp set (#123764). I pretty much turned the box into a card using this sketch.  One thing I feel the need to explain is that the embossed images at the bottom are holly leaves and berries, since you can not tell in the photo.  I used all the stamps from this set in my card, I am not sure why, but that makes me happy.  I also used our new Dazzling Details Glitter Glue on my pine cone.  I like the look that it gives, but in hind sight this pinecone image is so striking I think I liked it better with out the glitter.

Spice Cake Designer Pumpkins

Welcome Stampin' Friends!

Today is Stampin' Royalty Challenge Day!  Challenge #93 is a picture challenge...

When I saw the picture I decided I wanted to make some fall home decore!  I love the little pumpkins and have always wanted to make some, so that I could just pull them out each year. So, here are my pumpkins!

I made them with the Spice Cake Designer Fabric (#124066).  They are super easy and lots of fun to make!

Here's how to make them....

1.For the medium pumpkin cut your fabric to 5" x 10" (what ever size pumpkin you make the length should be twice the width).

2. Fold your fabric the long way, right sides together and stitch the side closed creating a square shape, a 1/4" seam allowance.  You could do this by hand if you like, just make it tight.

3.With a needle and thread, using a basting stitch around the bottom, pull it tight and tie it off.

4. Turn the pumpkin right side out, do another basting stitch around the top and stuff with Poly-fil. (Put in more than you think you need.)

5. Pull tight and stitch closed.

6. Using a big needle, thread it with Linen Thread (#104199), tie a knot in the end (I used about a yard for the medium pumpkin). Pull needle up from the bottom and throught the middle and out through the top, continue this untill you have the desired number of sections in your pumpkin, pulling tight each time.  Tie it off and snip off the thread.

7. For the stem, I drew my own pattern, making the stem slightly bigger than the size I thought it should be.  I cut this out and pinned it to some brown felt, then cut out two pieces. 

8. Top stitch the two stems together, leaving the bottom open.  You can do this with your sewing machine or by hand.  Stuff some Poly-fil into your stem.

9.Hot glue your stem to your pumpkin, I squeezed the bottom of my stem together a little as I pushed it down into the pumpkin.

10.  I added a skinny strip of Crumb Cake card stock that I wound around a dowel, adhering it with Hot Glue.

My larger pumpkin measured 7" x 14".  You can see I added a leaf to this one, I die cut it with the Leaves #2 die (#113459) out of some felt and then machine stitched around it to give it some added texture.

For my smaller pumpkin I cut my fabric to 4" x 8".

These are so cute sitting next to my tv!  I want to make more!!!  I hope that you will make some too.

Simply Adorned Candy Corn

I have another Halloween project that I demonstrated at the Stampadelicious group meeting last month to share with you today.  I love the Simply Adorned line that Stampin' Up! has!!!  How fun to create works of art and then be able to incorporate that into your wardrobe! I thought I wanted something *sweet* to wear in mine for Halloween!!! 

Here is how I made my candy corn...

1. Using the Petite Pennants Builder Punch, punch out only 3/4 of the small pennant, creating a smaller pennant, with Whisper White Card stock. 

2. Add a small strip of Daffodil Delight card stock to the bottom of your triangle and then a small strip of Pumpkin Pie card stock just above that, leaving a white tip.  

3. Take your favorite paper scissors and slight round the corners to give a candy corn look. 

4. Press the candy corn into the Versamark pad, emboss the entire candy corn with Iridescent Ice embossing powder to give it the glittery look. 

5. Pop that over your background with a dimensional. 

6. I made my background with a stamp from the Spooky Bingo Bits Stamp set and a small piece of torn Basic Black Cardstock.  

These little charms are so much fun to make!

Itty Bitty Boo Boxes

Today's project is a CASE from a project featured in Stampin' Success Magazine (a monthly magazine just for Stampin' Up! demonstrators, another reason to join!) I loved these adorable little boxes and the little surprise on the inside and wanted to make them to demonstrate at the Stampadelicious group meeting last month. So, a BIG THANK YOU to Brenda at Qbee's Quest for this fun idea!!!

They really are so cute.  Each box is about 1" square!  And when you open them....

Here is how I made my boxes...

1. Cut a Basic Black strip of card stock to 4-3/4" x 1-1/8" for each box you want to make. 

2. Score the Basic Black strip at 1-1/8", 2-1/4", 3-3/8", 4-1/2"

3. Using the Petal Card Double Punch, punch out 1 from Basic Black Card stock, this will be the bottom of your box. Punch another out of card stock that will coordinate with your Designer paper, this will be the lid.

4. Using Sticky Strip or Multipurpose Glue (green glue) adhere one petal of the bottom punch piece to one square of the box strip, continue doing this on the remaining 3 sides.

5. Adhere the last flap of the box, completing the box.

6. Cut 4 one inch squares of Designer Paper, I used Frightful Sight (#122351).  Adhere these to your box.

7. Punch out one Postage Stamp from Basic Black Card stock and adhere this to your lid piece.

8. Cut a 3" piece of Basic Black Grosgrain Ribbon and a 1/4" x 2-1/4" piece of window sheet. 

9. Using a paper piercer poke a hole in the center of you lid. Add the window sheet strip to the bottom and the ribbon (folded in half) to the top, piercing a hole in each.  Secure with a brad, closing it on the top side of the lid, as we will cover that with the stamped image.  Adhere one petal of the lid to box.

10. Stamp your Halloween image with Versamark ink on card stock that coordinates with your Designer Paper and emboss it with Black powder.

11. Punch your image out with the 1" circle punch and mount to the top of you lid with a dimensional. 

12. Stamp the word "BOO" from Spooky Bingo Bits with Versamark Ink on Basic Black card stock and emboss with White embossing powder.  Punch this out with the 1" circle  punch and adhere to the end of the window sheet strip with sticky strip, so it is facing out. 

13. Adhere a Starburst or other small wrapped candy to the back of the window sheet strip with sticky strip. Close box, you might have to shake it a bit to get the candy inside the box. 

When the recipient opens the box "BOO" will pop out at them and they will get a little sweet treat too!!! 

They are so fun and cute you will want to make a bunch of them!

Coffin Treat Box!

I was so excited when I saw the new Spook Central Digital Ensemble (#127589) for Digital Download.  I ordered it right away to use in My Digital Studio (#118108, MDS), for one thing!

The ONE THING I had to have from this kit... The Coffin pattern!!!  I have been wanting to make a coffin treat box for a long time now, so I was super excited to see this!  After downloading the kit, I opened a blank 8-1/2" x 11 scrapbook page in MDS (#118108) and applied the coffin pattern.  Then printed it out on Basic Gray cardstock.  The box I created was for my demonstration at the Stampadelicious monthly creative meeting in September.  Here it is...

So fun!!!  I ran the lid of the coffin through my Big Shot with the Spider Web embossing folder (#120889).  Then I painted on some Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink (Illuminate Top Coat #121084) over the web giving it and iridescent shine!
The tag is also from the Spook Central Kit!  How easy to just print it out and it's ready to go, so easy it feels like cheating! 

The spiders are from the Spooky Bingo Bits stamp set (#123946) my favorite Halloween set of the season. I tied it off with some Black Satin Ribbon (#117285).

I did not stop there, when the candy is all gone...

The letters are aslo from the Spook Central Kit!  The mummy is fromt he Spooky Bingo Bit stamp set, he is so cute!!! 

I had so much fun making this and am so glad I have a printable coffin pattern, that I can make any size I want!!!  This is another great thing you can do with My Digital Studio(#118108), it is not limited to scrapbooking!

Falling for this challenge!

Today is Stampin' Royalty Challenge Day!!! This week's challenge is a color challenge...

This color challenge imediately made me think of fall, so I pulled out one of my new stamp sets, Gently Falling(#123804) and got started! 

I love how the Elegant Eggplant makes these colors pop!  To make this card really special, I pressed my stamped, and cut out leaves into my Versamark pad (#102283) and then embossed them with Iridescent Ice powder (#101930). 

Can you see how glittery it make the leaves!  What a fun color challenge, I am sure I would not have come up with that on my own, I love it!

Witches Boot

Today I have a fun Halloween project to share with you!  I created this project to demo at our demonstrator creative meeting last Tuesday.  I have seen a few witches boots made out of the Holiday Stocking Die and knew I wanted to try that out for my self!!!  I made mine a pouch to hold treat, like THESE. 

 

Holiday Stocking Die (#124098)

 

Here is how I made my boot...

1. Cut out two stockings in Basic Black Card stock (#121045) and two top pieces in Rich Razzleberry (#115316).

2. Cut out two 3-1/2" circles (#121811) in Basic Black (to make the toe piece). 

3. Punch a piece out of the 3-1/2" circle with the 1-3/4" circle punch (#119850) (I did about 3/4 of the punch, taking a bite out of the big circle.  Use this as a template to punch your second black circle to be the same. 

4. Adhere the punched circle to the tip of the stocking, creating a boot, repeat with the second stocking, so that it matches the first when lined up back to back with the first.  

5. Emboss both boots with Vintage Wall Paper folder (3120175) or embossing folder of your choice. The top will stick out a little, but it will be covered by the Razzleberry piece, so do not worry about that. 

6.I stuck my two boots together with dimensionals (#104430) so that it would have a little more room to add a treat. 

7. Now I FREE HAND cut out the notch to make the heel of the boot.  Just a little triangle. 

8. Emboss the top pieces of your boot with the Stripes embossing folder (#123128), you fit them both on the folder and run them through at the same time. 

9. Punch out a Loace Ribbon Border (#122362) out of Lucky Limeade card stock and adhere it to the back of the top piece that will be on the front of the boot.  Adhere this to the front of the boot. 

10. Line up and adhere the second top piece to the back of the boot. 

11. Tie on the Lucky Limeade Ruffled Ribbon (#122977), add a tag (I used the Wicked Cool stamp set #120600 to create mine). 

12.  Add 3 Modern Label (#119849) pieces, creating buckles with Tangerine Tango Card stock.  

13. To the buckles add one black circle punched fromt the largest circle on the Crop-a-dile (#108362).

14.  Add some Dazzling Details (#124117) to each of the black circles and let dry. 

I hope you give this a try, they are lots of fun and you can really change things up and make it your own!  

 

Recipe Card Club!!

I can finally show you some of the fun things I have been making over the last week!!!  On Saturday I joined two other demonstrators and taught a Recipe Card Class to other demonstrators.  It was so much fun!  I love the pages that we made and the stand to hang them on is awesome!  It would be an amazing Christmas gift!!! And that is why I am going to start my own Recipe Card Club!!!
