Today I am sharing the final two tutorials for Craft Project Centrals January collection.  

First up we have a Gumball necklace with a gift box, coordinating gift tag and matching card.  This ensemble was created by Heidi King.

I'm a little behind!

When I was sitting down to post this morning I realized that I had a project from CHRISTMAS that I had yet to post and I almost said, "Oh never mind", but I am proud of it.  Mostly because my husband loved it so much and he helped me with it a little!  Which does not happen very often.  It just so happens it was something he needed.  At Christmas his office adopted a Veteran, amoung the many things they got him were some lottery tickets.  My husband was looking for something fun to put them in and everything we were seeing in the stores was not quite right.  So, I said, I could make something to put them in!  When I said it I did not know he needed it done THAT DAY!!!  Anyhow, I set to work making an envelope to put the lottery tickets in.  I measured the size of the biggest ticket and added a 1/4" to either side, trippled the width and set to cutting a scoring. Here is my custom lottery ticket envelope. 

I used the Christmas Lane Simply Scrappin' Kit from the recent Holiday Mini Catalog. 

Remove the belly band to open.  We attached a gold coin for scratching the lottery tickets. 

The Scratch and Sniff Peppermint lottery ticket that inspired it all! 

The joy in this project was making something that my husband thought was amazing and having him with me and colaborating with me while making it!  He thought the simply scrappin' kit was the coolest thing ever, he said "Do you know how many things we could make with that?!?"  Does he know who he is talking to? It was lots of fun and will be one of my favorite stampin' memories! 

 

 

 

Inspired Elementary Elegance

It is Stampin' Royalty Challenge Day!  This week's challenge (#108) is and Inspiration Piece.

Gorgeous colors!  I love the Blue and Yellow!  And, I want that bird cage!  Here is my inspired card...

What an awesome stamp set Elementary Elegance (#125122) is and you can get it for FREE, it is one of this year's Sale-A-Bration stamp sets!  

I thought you might like to know how I made the "Scrunchie Flowers" on this card. 

Using the Boho Blossoms Punch (#119858),  punch 3 of each flower.

Scrunch the flowers up, by wadding them up and opening them up several times. 

Layer the flowers from biggest to smallest, using Mulitpurpose Liquid Glue (#110755) to adhere them together.

When the glue has dried, scrunch up the layered flower, so that all the petals are going up and into the center. Dab it with a sponge (#101610) inked in the same color as your card stock to give it more dimension and depth. 

Viola!  You have a awesome vintage Scrunchie Flower!

Just a little Valentine

Today I am off for a day with the girls!  This weekend, the mom's from the Homeschool Co-Op I am a part of, are having a retreat.  I am going up for the day today.  I thougth it would be fun to do a little crafting.  So, I planned a valentine card for us to make.  

I have several of these love notes from a couple of years ago and thought they would be perfect for a little valentine card.  This card was inspired by I card I saw last year by Heather Summers. 

The mini envelope is made with the Petal Card Double Punch (#119273).

The envelope is filled with love from the I {HEART} Hearts (#118653) stamp set and coordinating punch, Heart to Heart (#119881). 

Of course all valentine cards need a hug and a kiss!  I added the "xo" to the card in pretty in pink card stock to give it a dry embossed look. The letters are from the Billboard Sizzlit Decorative Strip Die (#114510). 

The DSP, Twitterpated (#125406), is from the new Occasions Mini Catalog.  It's a very fun and versitle paper, love the variety of colors! 

Just so you know, Valentines Day is less than a month away, time to get your craft on! 

Four Birthday Headbands

A few weeks before Christmas one of my daughter, Samantha's, friends had a birthday party.  We of course made her a set of headbands, but it has taken me until now to post them. 

My daughter's and I had a lot of fun rummaging through my stores of fabric and headbands and planning our creations out.  We ended up organizing all my fabric by color, BONUS!  Anyhow, she loved them so much I made her one of them as a little extra suprise for Christmas and one for Hannah too! 

This pink and white headband was made with the Circles Die #2 (#114526).  Cut four of each of the 3 largest circles.  Fold the circles in to fourths.  Starting with the largest circles hot glue the points onto a felt circle.  After glueing all four, do the same with the next size glueing them right on top, creating a second layer.  Repeat this with the smallest size of circles.  Finally, glue a button or, in this case a brad to the center.

 

The purple and black headband was also made with the Circle Die #2.  Die cut the circle(s) of your choice.  Do a running stitch around the edge.  Pull your thread when you get the end, cinching your circle closed.  Press it flat, tie off your thread. Hot glue or stitch a button to the center. A very easy, quick and fun one! 

Another purple one, but this one is more flouncy and little girl pretty.  Yet again, I used CIRCLE DIE #2, do you have it, if not, get it! Die cut lots of circles of the same size, I used the largest one for this head band.  I think I did around 12 circles.  Fold your circle in half and then in half again.  With needle and thread start threading your folded circles on,  through the point.  When all your circles are on the thread, then pull them tight, stich back through the first circle, pulling tight again.  Tie off your thread and your flower is done! 

Last but not least, I had to make one with my favorite flower, from the Flower Folds die (#115970)!  Love the bright colors and the sparly green headband!

A vintage take on a Color Challenge

It's Stampin' Royalty Challenge Day.  Challenge #107 is a color challenge. 

What fun colors!  I knew I was going to have fun with this one! 

I also knew that I wanted to use my new stamps and accessories from the Occasions Mini Catalog, the stamp set that came to mind was the Apothecary Art set (#125527), but that set has a vintage feel and I was not sure I could do that with these colors.  But I took on the challenge of making it work.  Needless to say I am thrilled with the outcome.  I made one of my most favorite cards to date! 

Isn't she so pretty!  I love the distressed paper.  I just broke down the fibers in my paper with my bone folder and then crinkled up and balled up my card stock several times.  Then smoothed it out with my bone folder.  I did the same on the tempting turquoise piece, but I also seperated the paper in half, pealing it apart into two pieces.  I chose to use the inside of the paper to show, it has such a soft almost suede look to it.  

I colored my flowers with a blender pen and then went over the top of them with some Smooch Pearlized Top Coat (#121084) to give them some shimmer. 

My flowers are what I call "Scrunchie Flowers".  Here's how to make them.

Punch out 5 flowers, I used the Boho Blossom punch (#119858) for all of my flowers (Pumpkin Pie is the large flower, Tempting Turquoise is the medium flower and Lucky Limeade is the smallest flower). 

Sponge the edges of all the flowers.

Crinkle and scrunch each flower several times.  

Lay one flower flat on your work surface.  

Put a SMALL puddle of multipurpose glue (#110755)  in the center.  

Take one of the remaining flowers and fold it in half and then in half again, creating a triangle.  Place the point of the triangle in the center of your flower with the glue.  

Continue with the remaining three flowers until you have a circle of triangle flowers.  

Press and hold the center for a minute, to ensure the glue holds.

 Then scrunch up the new flower again, until you get the shape you like. 

I then added some Smooch Pealized Top coat (#121084) to add some shimmer to my flower.  

I used this same technique with all the flowers on my card.

Hot Air Balloon Birthday

I have been waiting a long time to share this post with you.  Several months ago I created a birthday ensemble for a customer and blog reader, HI Pegah!  She was planning a birthday party for her little one with a hot air balloon theme.  I was so thrilled and excited to work on this project and had a ton of fun doing it.  So, I thought I would share with you some of the fun things I made for this very special occassion! 

First up were the invitations.  You may recall me posting two other hot air balloon invitations, here and here, I made three prototypes and she picked one.  This is the invitation she went with. 

The idea for the balloons over the bridge was inspired by the city that my customer lives in.  The inside reads... "Over the bridge and over the sea, to a birthday party just for me".  It was by far my favorite of the three cards and I was thrilled that she liked it the best too.  

Next up, I made two banners. 

Here is the Happy Birthday Banner with Hot Air Balloon accents, coulds and stars.

Every party needs PARTY HATS!!!  This one was for the birthday boy, I also made a different design for the party guests.

And Party Favors of course!  I completely fell in love with the polka doted, treat cup, hot air balloon  boxes! 

I also incorporated MDS (My Digitial Studio #118108) on a few projects.  

Like, food placement cards, here is one of the two designs I created...

And one of my favorite's THE WELCOME SIGN!!! The faces have been blurred, I know it is a little distracting, sorry. 

Lastly, I made come pieces that she attached to a ribbon wrapped wreath, what a great idea!  

I can only hope that I played a little part in making this families birthday a special one!

A Fabric Challenge

This week's challenge at Stampin' Roylaty is to create something using FABRIC!  Yeah!  I love fabric.  Orginally, I thought I would incorporate fabric into a card.  But my creativity lead me in another direction.  I like to give my self additional little challenges, in this case it was to use these....

Ten little strips (1/2" x 2-1/2") left over from the project I made for Craft Project Central this month (stay tunned to see that creation later on this month!) After much playing around I came up with this... 

Okay, I might have an obession with headbands and it may have rubbed off on my girls!!!  But when I started to make this flower it was just too cute to put on a card, it cried out to be worn!  

Here is how I made the flower...

Start by adhering the end of each fabric strip together.  Then hot glue five of the folded strips onto a 1-1/2" circle of felt (die cut from Circles Die #2, #114526) in a star like pattern.

Add the five remaining fabric strips to the top, glueing them in the open spaces with hot glue. To finish it off, hot glue a button to the middle. 

Once I made the flower and knew it had to go on a head band, I pulled out my headband box (yes, it is bad enough that I have a tub dedicated just to headbands!). I did not have a headband on hand that would match my flower.  BUT, I did have a headband I had been saving to cover with ribbon!  It was time to learn how!  It was super easy, although I can see how a little practice would make for a smoother headband.  But, overall, I was pleased with how my ribbon covered head band turned out.  I found a very helpful video on youtube on how to cover headbands with ribbon or fabric...  

 

Once my headband was covered with ribbon I hot glued the flower right to it.  I also like to add a second 1-1/2" felt circle to the back to hold my flower securely to the headband, I use hot glue for this as well.  Viola, a super cute headband!  Now we need an outfit to match!

Look at this cute crocodile valentine box with matching 3 x 3 valentine card.  This box is the perfect size for kids to use for their valentine exchange.  The mouth opens and closes for easily putting cards and treats inside.  The box colors could be changed for a dinosoaur look as well.  Try leaving off the jagged teeth for a Hippo (add a couple small tags in front for the teeth).  This box has so many fun uses!

What a great use of the Mocha Morning Designer paper.  The butterflies look great with it.  Once you have the tutorial to make this set you can create so many different styles and uses for it.

 Tanya Bell created this fun and functional desk calendar. 

This desk calendar is designed so that the main calendar stand can be used as a card and folds easily to fit into a Small Open-End envelope. The box that accompanies the "card" holds note paper and the ensemble makes a perfect gift for teachers, co-workers or anyone that could use a desk calendar. This project is also a great class or club project!

Sketch Challenge #105

It's Stampin' Royalty Challenge Day!  

Challenge #105 is a Sketch Challenge...

I think Sketches are my favorite challenge.  With this sketch I thought I would challenge myself to use one of my new stamp sets.  I decided on the Fresh Vintage Stamp Set (#125117), which is a Sale-A-Bration stamp set.  It's a very cute set that you will be able to get for free begining January 24th!  

My most favorite thing about this card is the Designer paper, Everyday Enchantment (#126154).  It is the Sale-A-Bration Designer Paper for this year!  It is one of my favorite sets of DSP, of all time!!!  This is another one of the items you will be able to get for free as of January 24th!  

The sentiment is from the Loving Thoughts Stamp set (#125845) which you can order from the Occasions Mini Catalog as of TODAY!!!  It is a great set, love the font and the variety of saying choices!
