Welcome Stampin' Friends! 

Today I am having my parents over for dinner to celebrate my Mom's birthday.  I thought I would share with you the things I made her. 

My mom saw the tissue holder that my friends Cheryl and Rebecca made for me and loved it so I thought I would make her one to match the Rag Quilt Purse I made for her.  You can find a tutorial on how to make the tissue holder HERE.  Then I thought I better make a card to match the tissue holder.  So, the colors I used are Ridinghood Red, Blushing Bride and Chocolate Chip.   I used the new Bright Blossoms set that is part of the current Summer Smooches promotion.  

The little cake is made out of a battery operated tea light, decorated with paper, rhinestones and espresso baker's twine.  You can make your own by following this tutorial. 

Lastly, I made a little ticket to put in her card for a night out at the movies.  My mom and I like to go to the dollar movies, we have a very nice theater here by my house.  It is an inexpensive and fun thing we like to do together.  

I gues that is not all.  Right now I have gluten free chocolate cupcakes baking in the oven.  And, Chocolate Coconut Icecream hardening in the freezer.  I need to go make the frosting now!   Should be fun times tonight!

Mini Rag Quilt Purse

LOOK WHAT I MADE!!!  Do you ever feel like running around and showing off your latest creation saying that?  I do, but now that I am a GROWN UP, I try not to.  That's why I have a blog, plus I hate running!  So, LOOK WHAT I MADE! 

It is a Mini Rag Quilt Purse.  I have made similar versions of this for my girls but they did not have a closing flap!  This idea came to me when we needed a birthday gift for our neighbor girl.  I wanted to make her a purse an the flap idea just came to me.  And this is one of those few times when an idea in my head worked out on when completed!  

THIS  MADE IT ALOT EASIER! 

ISN'T SHE SO BEAUTIFUL!  She is my new sewing machine!  The one I had before was a... piece!  I love her, it makes me happy just to look at her!  

ANY HOW!!!

See how the flap has rectangles instead of a square from the Scallop Square Die?  I made my rectangles by folding a piece of fabric in half and putting the fold about 3 scallops down on the Scallop Square Die.  Die cut it, when you open up your die cut folded fabric you have a rectangle.  You can make your rectangle longer or shorter by moving it up or down a few scallops.  

Pretty cute if I don't say so my self!  And, I made it in one evening!  We put some hand made beaded creations inside as well.  Samantha made her a necklace and Hannah made her a bracelet.  Good times!

Monochromatic Card

Welcome Stampin' Friends!  

It's Wednesday and that means it is time for the Stampin' Royalty Challenge!

So many color choices!  I chose... PUMPKIN PIE.  No real reason, I just saw that color and it spoke to me.

Stampin' Royalty Challenge #120

Stampin' Royalty Challenge #120 is a sketch challenge!

Lots of fun possibilities with this sketch!  When I saw it I knew I wanted to use my Paper Doily Large Sizzlit (#125592).

This is one of those cards I look at and am very happy, and think, I made that!  The only thing is that it might be hard to give away.

Week 2 on Craft Project Central

Twitterpated Anniversary

I love it when someone asks me to make a card for a special occassion, because I get to be a part of making their day special.  That is how this card came to be, my dear friend and downline, Georgie, her husband contacted me and asked me if I could make a card for him to give her on their anniversary.  I was thrilled to do it.  I had previously made a birthday card for him to give to her and that was very well recieved, so I wanted to see if I could top that!

How it all started was with the Paper Doily.  I had just got my Paper Doily Sizzlit (#125592) and am in love with it!  I thought it would be great for a romantic anniversary card!  But, where to go from there?  I got my color inspiration from the Twitterpated DSP (#125406) and the idea it put the Apothecary Art image (#125527) on top of the doily from several other stampers on the www.  And then it all started to come together.  I knew it was going to have to be a big card for the Large Scalloped heart from the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies (#125599) to fit on there. So this card is 6"x6".  That lead to another issue, what to put it in.  I did not have an envelpe for a 6"x6" card!  But I do have the new DIAGONAL SCORE PLATE (#125586)!!! 

My envelope was 9-1/2" x 9-1/2" and scored at 4-1/2" on all 4 sides.  My card fit perfectly!

Pear Pizzaz

Some pretty cool colors!!!  And, this week's challenge at Stampin' Royalty is a color challenge that uses 3 of these colors!!! 

I have to say I was really challenged by this combo and was not at all sure what to do with it.  I started browsing through my stamp sets hoping something would catch my eye that would be perfect for these colors and that is exactly what happend when I saw my Mouthwatering Stamp Set (#125677)! 

I really love this stamp set and that popsicle!!! And, I found out those three colors do work together.  That is why I love challenges; I just made something I never would have otherwise and I love it!

Big Shot Softie Friends

A Flower Pot and a Baby Carriage

Groovy Challenge

Welcome Stampin' Friends!

When I first saw the picture that is this week's challenge at  Stampin' Royalty I was imediately reminded of the 70's not that I remember much about them, I only experienced half of them.  But the colors in this photo screamed 70's to me, what do you think? 

My favorite part of this inspiration photo are the daisies!  I love my Daisy #2 Die (#114520)!!! And it has been a while since I have used it.  What a perfect challenge to use it on!  

You can not do a 70's piece with out ORANGE!  I thought I would make a little goody bag, it might need something made with lemon to go inside!  I got the idea for the bag from one that was at Leadership, made with the Fancy Favor die (#115965).  Here is how I made mine.

1. First cut and assemble the Lucky Limeade box as you normally would with the Fancy Favor Die (#115965).

2.Cut a piece of Peach Parfait patterned paper from the Just Add Cake DSP (#124339) to 3-1/2" x 12, lay it on the Fancy Favor Die (#115965), so that you only cut the top of the box, lining the paper up with the line just above the part on the die that cuts the bottom of the box. 

3. Here is what the DSP piece looks like die cut and assembled.

4. Push the sides of the Lucky Limeade box in a little, this will make getting the top on a little easier. Now, slide the DSP piece down over the Lucky Limeade Box and push the sides of the DSP piece in as well to match the box. 

 

5.  Add some Mulitpurpose Liquid Glue (#110755) to secure the DSP into place, repeat this on all four sides. I know I do not have much glue there, a little does go a long way, it just took me a long time to get this shot and some of the glue dried!  You can use a titch more than that! 

6. Punch two holes in the top of the bag with the Crop-a-Dile (#108362), thread the ribbon through the two holes and tie a nice bow.  I used about 12" of Daffodil Delight Grosgrain Ribbon (#120928).

7. All you need to do no is embellish it!  I embellished mine with Daffodil Delight cardstock ( die cut with the Daisies #2 Die (#114520).  I have four of the largest flower, three of the medium flower and three of the smallest flower.  After die cutting them I curled the petals down with my Bone Folder (#102300).  Next I folded the petals up, so they look like this...

8. Stack up the flowers, gluing each down with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (#110755).  Then I added one of each of the flowers from the Boho Blossom Punch (#119858) to the center, after I snipped inbetween each of the petals and curled their petals up and in a little.  Last but not least I added an Old Olive Brad (#119740) to the center. I hot glued the flower to the box to make sure it STAYED! 

9.  The tag was made the Pennant Parade Stamp Set (#122742) and the Jewelry Tag punch (#117190) and tied on with Lucky Limeade Baker's Twine (#125572).

Pretty quick and easy to make the box and would be perfect little gift holder!
