Hi Stampin' Friends!
Just wanted to share the Birthday Cake Easel Card I made for my friend Patty for her Bday.
Here is how it looks popped up..
I had to make a cake card so that I could use the "carbs, scharbs! {EAT THE CAKE}" stamp!
I thought you might like to see how I made it.
Start with a 4-1/4" x 11 piece of card stock. Score at 5-1/2" and at 2-3/4" . Add a scrap of card stock to hold up the top piece of cake. Mine was approximately 2-1/4" x 1-1/4". Attach the scrap only to the bottom half of the card.
Next I attached the Island Indigo patterned paper to the bottom of the card.
Then add the second piece of patterned paper to cover the bottom half othe scrap of card stock.
You can see this paper has a scalloped pattern, I just cut along that instead of a straight line. But you could add a punched scalloped piece if the DSP you choose does not have a scalloped pattern.
Now you mount the top cake piece to the scrap of card stock sticking up. Remember to only put adhesive on the scrap, so that you cake does not stick to the card when it is flat.
I forgot to write down the measurements before I gave the card away, so I do not remember the size of my top cake piece. But here is a tip... I cut the designer paper and a piece of card stock the same size for the top cake piece, mounted them together and then stuck that to the scrap to make the top of the cake. This will make it sturdier.
I accented the cake with a scalloped trip, dsp and a flower. Lastly, I added some candles with flames, all cut free hand.
The best part about the card was the PRESENT inside, a BOOK!!!
Okay, it is not the ACTUAL Book. The Pioneer Woman has a new cookbook coming out in October! So, I preordered it for Patty for her Bday! So I put a picture of the book in her card.
I should also mention that the yellow gingham band going across the bottom layer of the cake is Washi Tape, but it was too transparent to just stick to the cake, so I mounted the tape on a strip of whisper white card stock and then mounted that to the cake.
I love this card and can not wait to make another, play with some more DSP!
