I wanted to make it more like a little gift bag and found an easy way to do it.
Here's how...
1. Die cut two of the largest bag pieces you will need a 6" x 12" piece of paper for this.
2. Add a score line to each bag on the "tall" flap of the bag, lining the bag up at 5-1/2". Repeat this with the second bag piece.
3. Then we need to trim that tall flap down a bit so this bag will the the same height all the way around. Line up the decorative edge of the lower part of the bag with cutting track on your paper cutter and cut it so tall side is now the same height. Repeat this with the second bag.
4. Attach the two pieces together, putting adhesive on the small flap you just created on the end of the bag and adhering that to the other bag piece on the end with no flap.
5. Now we need a bottom piece. Cut a piece of paper to 1-3/4" x 4-1/4", score this at 4" on both ends. This becomes the bottom of the bag.
6. Adhere this to on of the short panels of the bag, like so...
7.Then you adhere all the flaps at the base. I glued mine so that the long flaps were on top of the bottom panel, so that the bottom of the bag did not have the flaps showing.
8. Finally adhere the last side panel to finish off the bag.
9. To make the sides of the bag "go in", I just pushed in the sides and creased the bag with my fingers and then my bone folder. I went almost but not all the way to the bottom. I found this much easier than trying to do some fancy scoring with a triangle at the bottom.
Then you have fun decorating it. I added a chalkboard tag to mine.
These colors made me think of flowers and one of the best flower stamp set around is the new Lotus Blossom set from the Sale-A-Bration collection. This is a stamp set you can get for free when you place a $50 product order! It has 3 stamp image that you stamp to create the blossom which is what makes have so much depth and texture. They are really easy to line up because the set is photopolymer, meaning the rubber is clear. Also, Stampin' Up! has add a directional "arrow" to each image making it even easier.
The lay out from this card came from the Annual Catalog, page 119, the card on the top right. There are so many great samples in the catalog, I like to look there when I need an idea, I find something I like and use what I have to create a card.
The ruffle at the bottom of the card was made with our Filter Paper. It is a little thicker than tissue paper and very sturdy. I cut off a strip of it and sponged it with Calypso Coral ink until is was the color I wanted. Then I gathered and stuck it down to the back of my photo frame, which I had run a line of Fast Fuse to. It held the crepe paper really good.
For the watercolored wash background I started with Shimmer White paper and picked up ink from the lid of my stamp pad after squeezing my stamp pad so the lid touched the pad with my Aqua Painter and brushing it on the card stock. The shimmer paper is great for this technique as it does not absorb much water.
Here are the products I used to make this Lotus Blossom card:
You can see here that I stamped the box. I LOVE Polka dots and there happens to be a very nice circle stamp in the Layers of Gratitude kit that is perfect for making a Polka dot background. I also used the tissue paper from my kit (every kit, every month comes wrapped in this Pool Party color tissue and I always save mine). I stamped it with one of the stamps in the set. And wrapped up my imaginary gift. Not sure what I am going to put in there yet or who it is going to. But it is ready when I do decide!
If you would like to get a surprise stampin' kit in the mail every month like I do, you can subscribe to Paper Pumpkin here. Every person who subscribes wit me get a bottle of Green Glue as my thank you gift to you.
Today I am sharing a card that I am demonstrating at my workshop this afternoon. I found a new show to watch on Hulu, Treehouse Masters, I love it and want my own tree house now! Then, I remembered seeing a card that had a tree on it with a little bird house! Now I had to make my own treehouse card and I had just the stamps to do it! Sheltering Tree and from our Sale-A-Bration Catalog, You Brighten My Day!
That little house is just so sweet hanging there in my spring tree!
To make give your card that something special try embossing! I used both dry and wet embossing on this card. The woodgrain background is dry embossing into the card base using the Woodgrain Embossing Folder and the Texture Boutique. The blossoms on the tree were stamped with Blushing Bride ink and embossed with Blushing Bride embossing powder; wet embossing. Which, helps the image to POP.
Oh my word, I love the BEST DAY EVER stamp set, because of it's name. And the stamp in the set that says the same thing! So fun!
Today I am sharing a set of cards with this set. I don't know if you have noticed in the Sale-A-Bration catalog, but with each stamp set it features a card made with the set with products that all total $50 so you can get that stamp set for FREE! Love that, it makes ordering what I want so fast and easy.
SO, I made the card from the Sale-A-Bration catalog that features the Best Day Ever stamp set, on page 3.
It's a pretty cute card!
Then I wanted to see what else I could make with the supplies listed in the catalog to make this card. I made three cards...
You can do a lot with one stamp set, 3 ink pads and white paper!
Here are all the supplies I used to make these cards. Remember if you were to buy all these supplies you could get the stamp set for FREE!!!
Isn't that a pretty picture! Fun colors, the ampersand, the flowers. LOVE IT!
I had to make me some flowers for this one!!!
I loved how the flowers in the picture have bling in the middle! And we just so happen to have bling in our catalog. The bling on the big flowers is from the Occasions Catalog, it's called Something Borrowed Embellishments! Such a cute name you just have to have them!
The lace is also from the same collection as the embellishments in the Occasions Catalog, the Going to the Chapel Collection, as I like to call it.
I love SCRUNCHIE flowers! Where you scrunch up the card stock several times and then make your flower. I used the Build a Bouquet die for the big flower, the flower punch from the Itty Bitty Accents punch pack for the small white flower and the 7/8" Scallop Circle punch for the medium flower.
I used 3 stamp sets for this card, but the mail one is Painted Petals, a fun stamp set with watercolored looking images, background images and sayings! It has coordinating paper and embossing folder too! I did not use those here but they are yummy!
The cool thing about the epoxy sticker is that it comes clear and you can make it any color you like by coloring it with the Blendies!
The "Happy Birthday" sentiment was stamped using the Alphabet Rotary stamp. I find that I am using the fun stamp a lot.
To dress up the background I dry embossed the card using the LargePolka Dot Folder and some Bermuda Bay sequins. I think this card would be a great card to give a guy for his birthday, so long as it comes with the cake!
Every week Stampin' Up! features 8 products that are a great deal, but only for one week! Check them out and if you see anything you can't live with out you can shop at my online store.
Today I am participating in the Creative Blog Hop. In order to participate in the Creative Blog hop you have to be nominated by another Stampin' Up! demonstrator. I was nominated by Linda Vich, a demonstrator from Manitoba, Canada. She found me on Pinterest! How sweet of her to nominate me! I was very excited to play along in the Creative Blog Hop.
For this special occasion, I have created a Best Day Ever Double Berry Basket Ensemble.
It all started with the Double Berry Basket.
I die cut 2 Berry Baskets, which is 4 base pieces from the die from Whisper White card stock. I also die cut 4 base pieces from the Best Year Ever Designer Paper. I lined my white baskets with the Designer Paper. Then I attached them side by side. Here's how.
Use a piece of card stock that is 2-3/4" x 6-1/2" as a base for the baskets to sit on. Put a square of glue on the bottom of one box and place the base piece on top so that is has a border of box around it about 1/4". Meaning the base will not go all the way to the edge. Flip this over and add glue to the base sitting the second berry basket on the base right next to the first one.
Here is what the bottom looks like when done.
Last step in securing thebasketstogether is to staple them at the top where they meet.
Then I added a the handle. I die cut two handle, one from card stock the other from Designer Paper, I glued them together, making the handle stronger.
The handle is attached where the to baskets meet.
Cover these with a cute bow made with the Bow Builder Punch. I also added a folded in half Doily to each end of the basket and one to cover the middle section where the baskets meet.
Here is the Double Berry Basket!
Now to fill it!!! For the first side, I made some MINI cards, each card is 2" x 2"! I made little envelopes to match them as well, using my Envelope Punch Board. To make envelopes for at 2 x 2 card you need to start with at 4" x 4" piece of paper. Score and punch all side at 2" on your Envelope Punch Board, it's that simple!
I put the tags in a cello bag and tied them up. The cards and envelopes got their own bag and each went on one side of the basket. I super cute little gift.
This cute gift had to have a card to go with it!
Of course it had to have a matching envelope too! I had a great time making and sharing these projects with you for the Creative Blog Hop.
Another fun part of the Creative Blog Hop is where I answer some questions about me.
1. What are you working on right now.
We recently moved in to a new house and I have a new big stamp room. I am working on getting it all set up, organized, decorated and such. I am also working on a paper bouquet for an upcoming class. It is a kit from the Occasion Catalog, but I am having fun putting my own touches on it.
2. How does your style differ from others in your genre?
I love to play with different styles, so I would not say that I have one style. But I love to make cards with a lot of details. I love my cards and creations to have texture. I love to add embellishments like ribbon, rhinestones, buttons and I'm pretty sure that all my card uses dimensionals!!! I would say that I pay close attention to each detail in my creations.
3. Why do you create what you do.
Most of my creations are for classes, workshops or for blogs that I design for. But, I create these things because I LOVE stamping. I love my job of creating things and sharing it with other people. I love teaching others about the art of rubber stamping and that you do not have to be an artist to make something cute.
4. How does your creative process work.
Usually I am inspired by something. Maybe another card I saw or a color combination. I pull out the things I know I want to use, maybe a stamp set or Designer Paper. Then I lay a few things out and see what it needs. I never adhere anything until I know where it is all going to go and I like how it looks. I guess it never goes the same way every time Sometimes a card is not turning out at all and I have to take a break and come back to it later. Then I have time to think on it and then the idea will come to me to on how to finish my project. But then again sometimes the idea never comes and I scratch it or start over and it all goes in a new direction. Each persons creative process is different and I bet pretty hard to put into works, other wise it would be science and not art.
To end the Creative Blog Hop I get to nominate another demonstrator to participate. So, I am nominating Georgeann Manning. She is a Stampin' Up! demonstrator who is part of Carrie's Stamp Crew (my downline). I love her work, she is so creative and really knows just how to put colors and layouts together. Georgie (as her friends call her) is the moderator of the blog Stampin' Royalty, which Georgie and I both design for. Not only that but she is my dear friend. Be sure to check out her blog and visit it on Monday, February 23rd for her post for the Creative Blog Hop.
I got my February Paper Pumpkin kit in the mail yesterday and wasted no time makingthe card from the kit. As I always do when making the project from the kit I was thinking about what else I could do with the kit.
Here is the card you make with the kit.
Once you peal off and use the felt letters to make the word "THANKS", you have a sheet that still says "THANKS", the negative piece. I wanted to use this piece to make a card.
Pretty cool right!!!
Here's how I did it.
1. The felt sheets come with two "THANKS" on them, so you need to cut it in half. I cut mine using a ruler, self healing mat and an X-acto knife.
2. The sides and top now need trimmed so that they match all the way around. Again, I used the ruler and X-acto knife.
3. To create the stamped background for the letters I cut 6 pieces of Whisper White card stock to 1-1/8 x 2-1/4. Then I stamped them with the back ground stamps from the set.
4. Peal off the backing from the "THANKS" and adhere the stamped panels to cover the letters.
5. Add some adhesive and stick to the front of your card, size 7-1/4" x 6-1/2", scored at 3-1/4".
I also made an envelop for this cutie. I use a 9" x 9" square of designer paper and my Envelope Punch Board to make it. Follow the directions for the 3-1/2" x 7-1/2" card on the punch board itself. The flaps are a little big, I snipped some of my inside one off. Love this DSP, it is part of our Sale-A-Bration collection, which means you can get it free when you order $50!
Then I stamped the outside flap with the "I just wanted to say..." stamp from the kit.
I love fun sized cards that are not your typical size!
Tie off the card with a bit of the twine from the kit and you got a great card only adding Whisper White card stock and a sheet of designer paper for the envelope. NICE!
Thanks for visiting and taking a look at my creation! Sharing with you is one of my favorite things!

Today I am sharing the card I made for my oldest daughter. She thinks foxes are so cute, so I wanted to use the little fox image from they Hey, Valentine stamp set for her card.
If you are a frequent visitor of my blog you may have recognize the layout of this card from the Stacked with Love Lumberjack card I made. That card was for my Valentine Class and I happen to have a packet for this card left over and decided to challenge myself to see if I could use it to make something different. And that is where the idea for this card came from.
To color the fox I used my Cherry Cobbler and Smokey Slate Blendies markers. For the shadow under him, I colored with the lightest Smokey Slate Blendie and then went over it with the Color Lifter making a much lighter shade.
I also incorporated the You Plus Me stamp set on this card. I love the big ampersand symbol in that set but had yet to use it. Here I stamped it in Smokey Slate ink but stamped it off two times on scratch paper before stamping it on my card. Then I stamped the "you're sweet" sentiment over the top with Real Red ink.
The heart strip across the bottom of the card was die cut using the row of hearts die from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits set of dies. Then on the inside of the card I put a long strip of the black washi tape from the Stacked with Love collection. I love the little window effect.
Here are all the products I used to make this Valentine Card:
There are SO many cool things in our Sale-A-Bration collection to do with Blendies, not to mention you can get FREE Blendies sets as your Sale-A-Bration gift!
I choose the stamp set A Happy Thing, it a great set to color with the Blendies.
The Blendies I used to color this bird are: Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight, and Coastal Cabana. I also used the Old Olive and Crumb Cake Blendies to color the branch.
Another product that works with our Blendies in the Sale-A-Bration collection is the Irresistibly Yours Designer Series Specialty Paper. This paper is "special" because it is all white with images embossed on it that are clear. So, you add your own color to the paper. For this card I colored mine with the Coastal Cabana Blendies!
I started with the darkest Coastal Cabana Blendie and colored the top 1/3 of the paper.
Right after coloring you want to rub the ink off the flowers, if it dries on them you will not be able to rub it off.
Then on to the medium Coastal Cabana marker for the middle third of the paper.
I started coloring on the edge of the last color, overlapping and blending the colors. Then I added the lightest color all the way to the bottom. Wiping the excess ink off the flowers after each color.
You can see on the bird how nicely using the 3 shades of one color blend together and you don't see any coloring lines. So much fun!
Not sure I got a good picture of it, but I also colored my rhinestone with the darkest Daffodil Delight Blendie. Anyhow, my rhinestone has a golden look, love it. You can use any of your Blendies to color rhinestones, buttons, pearls, clay, paper, etc. Just get creative.
Here are all the cool things I used to make this card:
And WHOOO lives in the TREES??? Owls, which is another one if my loves.
I happen to have the coolest, most unique Owl stamp set. I call this stamp set Hanny Hoot. I got to name it because I am the one who carved it! Did you know that Stampin' Up! carries a kit to carve your own stamps!!! It's sounds so scary but it is really fun!
Here is my creation with all my loves for this week's challenge, TREES.
The two owls, the branch and the flowers are all from the set I carved. But the best part of this card is when you open it up!
It's a 3D Tree! I saw something like this a while ago online and then could never find it again. So, I played around and made a 3D tree of my own.
It's REALLY easy, here are the step by step directions and photos too on how you can make your own 3D tree for the inside of a card.
1. Score a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of card stock at 1", 2" and 3".
2. Using the small heart framelit from the Hearts A Flutter Collection (or any heart die you happen to have or circle for that matter) cut an opening by centering the heart over the center score line in the paper.
4. Adhere the left side of the panel to the left side of the card (on the inside). Line up the edge of the panel with the fold line of the card, so that you have an 1/8" of an inch at the top and the bottom of the panel.
5. Fold the tree panel in half and shut the card, adhering the second side to the other side of the card.
6. Die cut another heart with the same die from the Hearts a Flutter die set in Red Glimmer Paper, fold it in half and give it a good crease with the Bone Folder.
Insert this inside the "tree", covering up the seam. You wan to give them something to look at inside the tree. You could do a plain paper heart and write on it too!
Ta da! Embellish the inside of your card. Here's mine...
Check them out and please visit my online store when you are ready to shop.
When you shop make sure to take advantage of Sale-A-Bration and pick out your free gift with a $50 purchase. Here is the Sale-A-Bration catalog, choose your free gift from here...
What does that mean??? Well, it means to use your DIES to make something cute!
For my die I chose an oldie but a goodie! The Top Note. First die I ever owned!!!
My friend and fellow demonstrator Pat Dion made a card with this style for a make and take at our recent meeting. I think it is called a floating card. I loved the idea so much I had to come home and make one! So, here is my floating card that is To Die For... (or at least I like to think so!)
It's super easy to do!
1. Cut a card base to 5-1/2" x 5-1/2". Score it at 4-1/4". Your "card front" will be 1-1/4". Adhere a 1" x 5-1/4" piece of DSP to this flap.
2. Cut a piece of card stock that is the same color as your card base to 1-1/4" x 5-1/2". Add a matching piece of DSP to this panel that measures 1" x 5-1/4". Set aside.
3. Die cut a large shape of your choice, in this case it is the Top Note. Stamp and embellish it as you like. Adhere this to the top flap of your card with dimensionals. Put 2 or 3 dimensionals of the back of your die cut piece but at the bottom and move on to step 4.
4. With your card open, lay the 1-1/4" x 5-1/2" panel with DSP on it at the bottom of the card, so that it lines up exactly, as if it were the bottom of the card front. Remove the backs off the dimesionals that are in place at the bottom of your die cut piece. Carefully close the card so that the die cut piece stick to this panel, creating your floating card front!
I opted to add another panel to the inside of my card as well.
I colored my images with Blendies, also known by their given name, Blendabilities, in Pink Pirouette, Wild Wasbi and Crumb Cake. When you color with these markers the color will bleed through the paper. So, I added a second Top Note to the back so that it was a cleaner look.
The designer series paper I used it SPECIAL, really it's called Specialty Paper. It's the Irresistibly Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper. What's so special about this paper??? Two things. ONE - all the paper in this collection is white, all white! The pattern is embossed on it in clear. SO, that means you can sponge, spritz, stencil, etc. to ink it as you like. I added Pink Pirouette ink with a sponge dauber and just rubbed the ink into the paper. TWO - You can get this paper for FREEEEEEE. Yep, it's part of our exclusive Sale-A-Bration collection. For every $50 product order you place you get to choose a Sale-A-Bration product as a free gift! Pretty special I'd say, click the shopping cart below to get your free SAB product.
To complete my card I added a Wild Wasbi Bow using the Painted Blooms Cotton Twine. I just took a REALLY long piece, sorry I did not measure, and starting close to one end, wrapped the long end around my four fingers. I wrapped it about 4 times. Then I tied the ends around the center of my loops, creating the bow. I tied the long ends around my card and tie them together on the inside of the card in a knot. I covered up the knot with a flower to hide it.
Here are all the cool things I used to make this card:
I know I will be getting some of these amazing offers. The Ornate Tag Topper Punch is brand new from the Occasions Catalog, a must have. And I will finally be getting that Hamburger Box. And when I do I will show you the easier way I found to put it together (when I borrowed my downlines die). Another great find here are the heart punches, the border punch and the sweetheart punch. Wow, everything is priced so good you really could get one of each!
