Today at Stampin' Royalty we have a color challenge, a color challenge that I picked! Every week this month Stampin' Royalty is spotlighting one of the Design Team Members and this week is my week. Click over to Stampin' Royalty to check it out.
My feather card is the result of the color challenge I choose. I inked my feather at one end with Coastal Cabana and the other end with Real Red ink and then spritzed it with water. Then I stamped it on Shimmer White paper. Then I splattered the card using my Aqua Painter and Chocolate Chip ink. Just make sure your Aqua Painter has plenty of water at the tip and then pick up some ink from the lid of your stamp pad. Tap the Aqua Painter against the finger of your left hand creating splatters on the desired paper.
NOTE: to get ink in the lid of your stamp pad; squeeze it while it is close so that the lid touches the pad, open it up and you have the perfect palette of color to watercolor and splatter with)
I used some other fun tools on this card to add texture; a sponge to add color to the edges of my card stock and rub color on my woodgrain embossed background, the Stampin' Distress Tool to distress the edges of my Coastal Cabana card stock, Fringe Scissors to add the Real Red fringe to the bottom of my feathered panel, my Big Shot to embossed the wood grain into the background and die cut the word thanks.
Did you notice my paper beads? I made them by cutting out a long and thin triangle of DSP, about 1/2" wide at the widest point and about 6" long. Then I curled it with my bone folder, like Christmas ribbon. Now that the paper is soft and ready to roll I rolled it around a dowel, putting tiny lines of green glue on the paper as I rolled. Slide it off the dowel and you have a paper bead.
I had so much fun with this card! I love how it turned out! I hope you will play along with my color challenge this week and share your card on Stampin' Royalty!
Happy Stampin'
Carrie
