Spring Break memories

Today at SSINK we are sharing our Spring Break Memories! I took a few of my favorite photos from our Spring Break trip and made a page in MDS.  If you are an MDS user you should know that Stampin' Up! is retiring this program.  AND all of our digitals downloads are on sale right now!

Back to my Spring Break!  I went up to McCall Idaho, just a shot drive from Eagle, where I live.  Two of my best friends went too, we stayed in a Condo on the lake.  We had some un-spring-like weather.  SNOW!  But we made the  most of it and brought plenty of STAMPING projects. 

Each of us planned two projects to make, I have already shared mine here and here.  Now let me share the projects that my friends, who are also in my Stamp Crew Team! 

Patty surprised us with this AMAZING project!  We made the banner and she gave us the frame backed with Chicken wire!  She brought lots of things so we could personalize out banner.  

And we made a card to clip to it.

Stampin' Royalty Challenge #275

This week at Stampin' Royalty we are making cards for Mom.  I wanted to make mine simple, as I am going to have the kids at our home school Co-Op make it for their moms.  

I used the Build A Bouquet Stamp set for this card.  I recently watched a video by Janet Wakeland, where she was sketching around a stamped image and thought that was a fun idea and I would save that I idea for someday.  Well, that day came when I was stamping this card!  

So, I took my Project Life journaling pen #01 and free hand sketched around it and the leaves. 

I think I will have the black sketching optional for this kids. It's still a pretty card with out it.

Love You Lots Paper Pumpkin Kit

Another fun surprise came in the mail, my Paper Pumpkin kit!  

I've been playing around with it and have made some fun cards to share with you. 

 

These first three cards are made only with the kit contents and are so fun for Mother's Day and Father's Day! 

And one for my hubby...

On the next two cards I used a few things I already have to alter the cards, take them up a notch...

For this one, I ran the pocket envelope through my Texture Boutique with the Spring Flowers embossing folder.  

For this bow tie card, I used my Hardwood background stamp and Crumb Cake ink to stamp the pocket envelope.  Then I made a little snip at the bottom of the card front.  From there I scored a line from the bottom of the snip to the corner of the card on both sides.  Now the bottom of the card becomes the top, so the fold is at the bottom.  I put the bow on with a dimensional.  The "buttons" are from the Brights Candy Dots.  

One of the things I love about this PP kit is the stamp set!  It has a lot of choices and you can really make your card customized to what you want!

Painted Petals Berry Basket

Tonight is my Painted Petals Class! 

I have been having so much fun getting ready for this class!  I've been dip dying lace trim and dying our simply pressed clay with Rose Red ink and making flowers out of it using the Simply Pressed Blossoms Mold.

I used one of the clay flowers on my Painted Petals Berry Basket.  

I stamped the basket with the rose image from the Painted Petals stamp set in Crumb Cake ink.  The basket itself I die cut with from Kraft card stock. I love this card stock.  It is a little thicker than our standard card stock and it is the color of all of our boxes, bags and journals, so it coordinates with other projects I want to make like the Journal Clutch that we are making at this class. From the Garden Pocket Card

Sew You Pocket Card

Today at SSINKspiration we are sharing our Paper Pumpkin creations. I am using the March Kit, Sew You for this pocket card.  I took the card, turned it upside down and made it into a pocket card. 

It's easy to do, just score one end at 1/2".  Then you need to close up the side to create the pocket.  Since this Paper Pumpkin Kit is about stitching, why not stitch up the sides!?!   

Here's how: 

Score one end at 1/2".  Then mark holes ever 1/2" on the inside of the card. 

Fold the card inside out and punch on the marks. Repeat on the other side. 

Fold the card right side out again and stitch it up both sides with the yellow twine included in the kit. 

Then I added the word bubble part of the card by glueing it to the 1/2" flap I created.  Then I adhered that to the card front with dimensionals. 

The insert for the pocket is 3" x 4-3/4". 

The little epoxy sticker of a gem is from the Paper Pumpkin Kit.  Love it!  The black card stock circle with the sticker on it make a perfect pull for my insert.

Goodbye Dictionary Stamp

   Today at Stampin' Royalty we have a color challenge! 

Pretty fun set of colors!  I knew I wanted to use my Dictionary Background stamp, it's one of my favorite stamps that are retiring from the Stampin' Up! catalog at the end of May. 

The Dictionary Stamp is my background image.  Then I used the Petal Potpourri stamp set for my flowers.  I  inked the solid image with Rich Razzleberry and stamped it once on my scratch paper before stamping it on to my card stock.  I repeated this for the other two flowers, so that when I stamped the second flower over the top the Blackberry Bliss would really stand out. 

The sentiment is one from the Big On You stamp set. All the images in this set are BIG, which is why I like it!  The saying can be the focal point of your card. 

I'm all about the little details!  For this card I took my Gray stamp pad and brushed it to the edges of the paper, darkening them which helps to draw the eye in.  Then I took my aqua painter and with the brush very wet I picked up some ink from the lid of my Blackberry Bliss stamp pad and splattered that over my card several times.  I love the water downed color of the Blackberry Bliss!  Last, I added some Rhinestone Jewels, it just needed some bling.  But mostly this card is just stamps, ink, and paper!

Thrift Store Art Make Over

 

 

Today at Stampin' Royalty we have a beautiful picture challenge, to make some thing inspired by this picture: 

When I saw this picture I knew right away that I was going to use a frame I found at a thrift store a few weeks back.  It was calling out to me to make it cute!  Here is what I made...

Want to see what it looked like before?!? 

I'm not sure if you can see but it was even a little dirty.  So with some TLC and rubber stamps I transformed this little 3x3 frame.  I did save the insert, I feel I could use the saying for something else. 

To make this frame a shaker I added dimensional strips to the frame before putting in my stamped panel. 

I just cut the edges off my dimensionals to get very thin strips so that they did not show from the front.  Then I added some sequins. The ones from the Gold sequin trim were perfect because they are the flat kind. 

The insert is a piece of 3" x 3" Pool Party card stock.  I stamped it with the Blended Bloom image and embossed it with Gold Embossing powder.  

The sentiment on the glass is from the Painted Petals stamp set.  To stamp on the glass you have to use the Staz On pads, I use the Jet Black.  AND, you have to be very careful when you stamp on glass as it is very slippery.  So, if you do mess up, have some rubbing alcohol on hand and wipe it off with a cotton ball when you mess up.  I did not mess up one time, I messed up 3 times.  I love that I had lots of chances to get it just right! 

To dress up the frame I added a lace bow and hot glued that to the top corner of the frame.  To the center of that I added a flower I made using the Petite Petals punch. I punched out a few, scrunched them up and layered them. Before I got glued the flower on. I added some of the threads from the Sequin Trim.  I had cut off a piece of the Sequin Trim and pulled the sequins off to fill my frame.  I saved the left over threads that the sequins came off of and separated them.  Stuck them to the back of the flower in a loop with a mini glue dot.  I added three loops and then hot glued the flower to the center of the lace bow.  Lastly, a scattered on a few pearls.

SSINK color challenge #20

 Today at SSINKspiration we have a fun color challenge!  I love how these three colors go together.  Soft and cool colors, there are so many possibilities! 

 

I choose to the Indescribable Gift Stamp set and wanted to challenge myself to incorporate these colors. I just love this set and get so much enjoyment over taking a little time to color it. 

Here's how I colored the image on this card. 

First, I stamped the main image with Soft Sky ink on Shimmer White card stock.  Then, I used my Aquapainter to watercolor each flower with the Soft Sky ink.  To do this with the Aquapainter you need to squeeze the stamp pad when it is closed so that the lid touches the pad.  When you open up the pad you will have a little ink puddle on the lid.  Pick up ink with your Aquapainter and start watercoloring.  Because the water is inside the brush you can control how much water you want just by squeezing the Aquapainter to release more water when it gets dry.  

Once my flowers were painted and my paper was still wet I outlined each flower with my Lost Lagoon marker and watercolored the flowers again, just adding highlighting with the Lost Lagoon ink from the pad.  

For the branches and the leaves I watercolored them with Crumb cake for the branches and Pistachio pudding for the leaves. Then I did some outlining with the same markers on each adding some definition.  I then watercolor washed the entire image with Lost Lagoon, avoiding going over the leaves and branches too much so as not to muddy up their colors.  

For the splatter I used the ink puddle in my Crumb Cake pad and got my Aquapainter really wet, picked up a lot of color and splattered it across my still wet image, by tapping the brush against my finger. 

 

 

 

If you look closely at the background you can see that there is a little bit of text.  I very lightly inked up the Dictionary background image with Crumb Cake and Lost Lagoon ink and then very lightly stamped that over my image.  

 

The twine at tied at the top of the card is from the White Jute Ribbon in the Occasions Catalog, you can easily separate the fibers of that ribbon and create your own twine!  This twine has loose fibers and has a very soft texture.  I used three of these twine pieces and tied them around the card as if they were one.  

The word "GRACE" is from the Alphabet Rotary Stamp, I love this stamp.  I can create my own sentiments with it and I love the not so perfect charm of it!

Stampin' Royalty Challenge #272

Happy Hoppy Easter

I had to share with you the cute little Easter treats I have been making.  I have given them away at my classes as party favors and will be giving them away at my Easter Brunch as well.  

This is a pretty easy little treat holder to make.  It all starts with at 2" x11" strip of card stock.  Scored at 5" and 6". Then punch both ends with one of Stampin' Up!'s tag topper punches.  I used the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch here.  

I also created an insert for the inside to hold the bunny.  It is just a 1" x 6-1/4" strip of card stock, scored at 1", 3", 4', 6", and glue that to form a square.  Glue this piece inside your long tag strip. 

 I put a little paper Easter grass down in side and then decorated it up, including a little window for the bunny to peek out of with a circle punch. 

I hope you have a very Happy Easter and enjoy some time with family remembering the real gift of this holiday.

For Peeps' Sake Ensemble

Today I am sharing with you some cute things I made using the For Peeps' Sake stamp set.  I made these for an Easter Exchange I did with the gals at SSINK. 

The ensemble includes a set of note cards with the images stamped with Yellow Citrus Chalk ink on Chalkboard paper. The background on all of the cards is the Sheer Perfection Vellum Stack that was part of our Sale-A-Bration collection (no longer available). I colored this printed vellum from the back with markers, the result is so pretty. 

The second piece in my ensemble is a little basket made with the Fry Box. I just added a strip of card stock for the handle. 

And lastly I made a little treat bag with a mini topper. 

And inside are my favorite Cadbury Mini Eggs!

From the Garden Pocket Card

I am loving the new Berry Basket Die and finding new and fun things to make with it.  One of those things is a Pocket Card!  (I've also made a Double Berry Basket)

I made this pocket card for one of my Secret Bunny gifts.  My secret bunny loves the new Chalkboard Paper and Chalk Inks. So, I incorporated those into this pocket card. 

I used the Handpicked Framelits that coordinate with the From the Garden set to make some chalk board garden pick tags, to go with the pocket card. 

Making the pocket with the Berry Basket Die is pretty easy, here's how: 

1. Cut out two Basket pieces, the smaller one with a 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" piece of card stock.  The bigger one with at 3-1/2" x 3-1/2" piece of card stock.  When you cut these pieces, line to top of the card stock up with the top cutting line on the die (see picture below).  This will leave you with one basket piece with no flap and the other with a flap for assembling your pocket.  You will also need one scallop border piece die cut from the same die. 

2. Adhere the two basket pieces together, so that the flap is on the inside of the pocket. Emboss texture onto the pocket or stamp the pocket now. 

3.  Cut one scallop off each end of the trim, then fold one scallop, at one end, back. Now the scallop trim is just the right size to go around the top of the pocket exactly. Adhere this around the top, closing it off with the one folded scallop at the end. 

The measurements for the insert are: 3" x 4" (a fourth of an inch smaller all the way around if you want a top layer on that)
 

Then you just dress it up how ever you like.
