This is what I did yesterday, you know between laundry, dishes, swim lessons, a trip to the park, battling ants and other fun things. Really, how bad can life be when I have a place to sit and stamp a Perfect Peacock and color it for my little girl???
I am working on cute things for Samantha's 10-1/2 birthday party (long story having do with a December birthday). So, I'll just tell you about the cute project... I stamped the Perfect Peacock on Watercolor Paper and embossed it with Black powder. Then using ink refills and an Aqua Painter I painted it. To paint with ink refills I put a drop of color on a plastic lid or if you love to water color you might want to pick up a little paint pallet. Like this one...
I use mine a lot and found them online to use with my customers at classes and I think they have them at most craft stores as well.
And these are our colors... Blackberry Bliss, Elegant Eggplant, Island Indigo, Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, and Old Olive. And in front is the Aqua Painter. It is a paint brush that stores water inside! Dang cool!
Having my image embossed makes it easier to stay in the lines when painting with the Aqua Painter.
I actually colored two peacocks. The first one I used here, a birthday card for my daughter. The flowers around the edge are from a retired background stamp called Something Lacy. I only added a little bit of Bermuda Bay to the edges of the stamp and then stamped it off before stamping it to the Peacock image. Then I splattered the paper with Eggplant Envy ink. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from the set; Remembering Your Birthday.
My second project is a decor piece, a shaker frame. I made a shaker frame before and LOVE it so I decided to make one for the party. It's not just a party decor piece but something she can keep for her room.
You can see I colored this peacock slightly different than the one for the card. I was just having fun with it.
Here's how I made this a shaker frame, I started with a very basic 4" x 6" black frame.
Before inserting your stamped image, line the edge with the edge prices from a few sheets of Dimensionals. They are right on top of the glass.
Then fill it with the shaker pieces of your choice. I used Bermuda Bay sequins. They come on a spool, so I just pulled them off one by one till I had how many I wanted. I did not count as I was doing this while watching American Ninja Warrior, love that show!
Now, peal the backing off the dimensionless and adhere the stamped image.
Since I started with a very basic frame I knew I was going to spruce it up a bit and made some scrunchie flowers to go on the outside of the frame.
The biggest flower was made with the Pansy Punch. There are five flowers there that have been scrunched up. I folded four of them into fourths and then glued those to the fifth flower with the points in the center. Then scrunch up the flower again.
The small flowers are made with the Petite Petals punch. These have four layers. Scrunch up each flower and glue them together with only a small dot of glue in the center to attach it. Once dry scrunch it up again, making the center layers stand up more than the outer layers.
The Bermuda Bay thread came from the Sequin Trim, when I pulled off the sequins I was left with the same color thread.
I cut five small pieces of the thread and put a few glue dots on the corner of my frame. I made each piece of thread into a circle and stuck it to a glue dot. Then my bow went down over the top!
Today's project for party prep is making bracelets for our party favor boxes.
But first I will take a moment to admire these two beauties...
