I have discovered Hand Lettering! What a fun new thing to add to my card making and envelope addressing. I'm not awesome at it but I am trying, practicing and LOVING it!
So, when it came time to make my WINTER THEMED card for Stampin' Royalty this week, I knew I wanted to include some hand lettering.
Here is what I created with my own two hands.
I wrote the large letters with a Lost Lagoon Stampin' Write marker and the smaller letters with a Tombow calligraphy pen. If you are interested in learning about hand lettering search it in Pinterest and Youtube. There are a lot of different techniques and tutorials as well.
I paired up the Snow Place stamps set with my hand lettered saying. I hand cut the hat and make it a wee bit smaller to fit my little snowman. The snowman and bow tie were die cut using the coordinating framelits.
I even hand lettered a saying for the inside.
Like I said, I have been practicing my hand lettering. I thought I'd share some of it with you too.
These are the first cards I made, a set of note cards. Now that I have a bit more practice, I know I could do better. But they are still so cool to me.
This note card is going out in the mail today to a friend. The "smile" is my favorite.
This piece I made last night after seeing a quote a friend posted on instagram, I knew I wanted to try my hand at it. So much fun. I am filling up my sketch book rapidly. My next goal is to pair it with some doodling.
Well I wanted to share with you what I did with them, or one of them at least.
I added it to a gift bag that I dressed up.
I made this bag for a gift exchange. My friend Becky Roberts includes me in her group meetings and get togethers as I do not have an active upline. This month was her Christmas party for her group. We were to bring a $5 gift and wrap it up CUTE! The idea is that it's really all about the packaging.
Here is what I put in my bag. Cute things. Several Stampin' Up! things that a demonstrator would love.
We all voted on our favorite packaging and then played a game to swap gifts. Here is the gift I got to take home, created by my friend Janey Backer.
My favorite thing about this event was the guest speaker, Sarah Pearl. She teaches the art of hand lettering!
Not only did she speak and show us her work, but she taught us the basics. And to do so we got some tools.
These are the pens and envelopes we used. We also got a big envelope with our name beautifully written on it.
Inside the envelope, a beautiful workbook and vintage stamps (postage stamps that is).
I was so excited to try my hand at artistic lettering. Turns out I need a lot of practice. Here is some of my work.
Here I have only worked on the letter "o" in a Stampin' Write Real Red Marker and in black using a Tombow Calligraphy pen.
Here I tried to copy one of Sarah's envelopes, her envelope is on the left and mine is on the right.
You can see I have a ways to go. BUT, what I did learn is that I have to make it my own. I learned the basics of the strokes and now I have to translate that to my own hand writing.
I had a great time and hanging out with friends and making new friends is really what Iove the most about being a demonstrator. Speaking of friends, let me share one more cute thing from the party. This cute box was one of my favorites from the gift packaging and was created by my friend Cathy Stephenson. She won 3rd place for this adorable snowman box. She is the queen of punch art!

This year I took a leap toward a dream of mine and applied to be on the Stampin' Up! Artisan design team. Sadly, I was not chosen. Which means, I will try again next year.
I made the card below for a display board at the recent On Stage event I attended in Vancouver, Washington. They asked the applicants to bring a card for an Artisan display board. I love how this card turned out, it feels so peaceful and serene.
My favorite thing on this card is the watercoloring around the tree. It's a has a salted background. It's a technique I learned in high school art class and have seen it in used in card making also.
First I stared by stamping my tree with Versamark ink and embossing it with clear powder on my watercolor paper circle. Then I wetted the circle with water. Then I washed color over the tree with Pool Party and Mossy Meadow ink and an Aquapainter. Then while the paper is still wet I sprinkled salt on it, plain old table salt. It absorbs the ink and gives it this misty, speckled look. Like it just rained.
I added some fun elements to complete my card. I really wanted it say "Peace on Earth", but I did not have a perfect stamp. So, I created my own sentiment using the Little Letters Thinlit dies and my Alphabet Rotary stamp.
When making this water color tree piece I made a second one, randomly placing the two colors instead of the Pool Party on top and the Mossy Meadow on bottom. I had to make a card with that one too, here it is...
I made this card for a card swap I took part in last night, more about that fun in another post.

Be sure to act quickly, these products are only available until January 4th, or while supplies last! I don't want you to miss out on items you really love!
Here are a few projects I have made with products I love from the Holiday Catalog.
I made a set of three. And changed one of them to a Crumb Cake note card just for fun.
As I always say, love is in the details. So, to accessorize my cards I added an Into the Woods element. If you look at the wooden elements the one I chose had an arrowed top, I cut it so it was flat on the top as it seemed to go with the card better that way.
Thanks for taking time to visit my blog and let me share my creations with you.

We will be making 10 Christmas cards. I have designed 5 unique cards using the Peaceful Pines Bundle. You get to make two of each card for a total of 10 cards. And as a BONUS, at this class you will also get to make a Woven Star Christmas Ornament.
Here is one of the cards you will be making.
My favorites on this card and the foil printed vellum and the White glittered Christmas tree. The cards for this class are the traditional Red and Green colors with touches of glitter and shine!

If a link doesn't work or you get off track, you will find the full blog hop lineup below.
The Mystery Supply Swap is a unique swap because we do not swap finished cards but instead send pieces that can be used to make a card. Like ribbon, buttons, designer paper, stamped images, etc.
Here is are the Mystery Supplies I was sent by Tonya Bell.
I love that she gave me a spider web doily with snowflake paper, what a fun challenge!
Here is how I altered the spider web doily to make a Christmas card.
I cut the doily apart like this and intended to use the back of the doily, as it is white. But as I got to creating I changed it up a bit more.
And I decided to use the black side. Here is the card...
See the black doily peeking out from behind other elements.
The stamp set I used is call Peaceful Pines. I stamped the tree in Versamark ink and embossed it with Black embossing powder.
This stamp set has a set of framelits that coordinate with it. I did not use them on this card, but you could use them to die cut the tree, or use them on their own to die cut tree shapes. I mention it because they are on sale until 11/16/15!
Do these colors make you think of winter and Christmas?
Me either, but I added some Real Red and a penguin to the mix and turned out a Christmas Card for this weeks color challenge at Stampin' Royalty.
I used a Delightful Dijon marker to color the penguins beak and feet. I know I stretched the limits on this card but I really wanted to think outside the box and do a Christmas card.
All of the stamps I used to create this card are from the Snow Place stamp set and I used the coordinating framelits to cut out the penguin, scarf and candy cane.
I'm going to let you in on a little insider secret here, you can make any card a WOW card with the addition of GLIMMER paper! We have it in FIVE colors, which pretty much makes me hyperventilate. I have pictured them here for your viewing pleasure.
Thank you for visiting my blog, feel free to leave me a comment or question below.
I have to say I never have and when my girl friend, Lynn, asked me to help her create some things for a baby shower she was planning I had to ask her more than once, "WHAT is that?". But now I know and if you already knew, I am so sorry I missed the Totoro train! But look at our creations and you might forgive me.
This is a little book is for Haiku poems for the baby. At the shower they passed out a piece of paper from the book and each person pulled out a Haiku prompt from a jar. Then they wrote a poem for the baby. All the pages were then put back in the book. I like to picture the Mom rocking her sweet baby reading her poems from this book.
Look, we even sponged leaves on the pages.
Of course we had to make a banner!
If you are wondering where we got our Totoro, I cut it with my electronic die cutting machine, after finding the image on line. The acorns were cut the same way. He really is so dang cute.
This picture is just so I can so off my carpet...
It's even more fabulous on your feet. I highly recommend memory foam padding!
Back to the baby shower. This little mobile was one of the things my friend Lynn asked me to make after seeing something similar on the www, it ended up being the perfect thing to hang on the door at the shower. The little black things are called "Soot Sprites", and that's all I know about that. We also made food placement cards, which I failed to take pictures of. Darn it.
But here's another AMAZING creation for this party, the cake. Another friend of ours, Carolyn, her daughter made this cake. Katie is just 15 years old! We are always blown away at her talent when we see her cakes. She also made 4 dozen Soot Sprite cupcakes! It was a rather large baby shower. I wish my talents translated into frosting but they don't, that's why there's Katie. Thank you Katie for being there for us fondant and frosting challenged friends!
I loved learning something new, who Totoro is, but mostly I had a blast getting together with friends and creating cute things. We laughed and had a great time. That's what I love about paper crafting, it brings people together.
Please let me know if you having questions about Totoro. Thanks for taking time to visit my blog, feel free to leave a comment or question below.

I recently made this Woven Star Christmas Ornament with my downline at our monthly Stamp Crew meeting and I had to wait for this challenge to share it with you! What I love about them is that it only takes a 6" x 6" piece of Designer Paper, it's fun to make and turns out so cute!
I used the Merry Moments Designer Paper Stack for these ornaments. Like I said you only need one sheet of 6" x 6" piece of paper to make this. Take that paper and cut it into 1/2" strips, creating 12 strips. Then you do some glueing, weaving, bending and more glueing.
Here are all the things you will want to gather to make these ornaments:
