Today as we say goodbye to 2015 I thought I'd share my favorite blog posts from this year. To see each blog post, click on the name of the project to be taken there.
JANUARY - PIRATE TREAT BAG
This treat bag was one of my favorite Valentines projects. It can be hard to find a good Valentine for boys and this one was perfect. And then I love the Hardwood background stamp stamped in white ink on black card stock, swoon!
FEBRUARY - THANKS CARD with leftovers from Layers of Gratitude Paper Pumpkin Kit.
I loved this Paper Pumpkin kit, it had felt letters, so much fun! Once I used the felt letters to make the cards, I had these negative felt pieces. I could not bring myself to throw them away, so I used them to make another card. This card was not only my favorite but has been one of my most "pinned" cards. Stampin' Up! even featured it as the cover on their February Paper Pumpkin board, these are the little things that make me happy!
MARCH - DOUBLE BERRY BASKET
This berry basket creation is still one of my favorites. I was asked to demo at a large event and this is what I shared that day, so it brings back fond memories. I made little mini cards and tags to go in the baskets. Berry Baskets really are one of the cute things in life.
I really do love this frame, my little work of art. Rescued from the thrift store and given new life. I had to keep this one for myself, we all need to tell ourselves more often that we are amazingly AMAZING! Plus, it has gold sequins inside it!
It must be the vintage feel of this card that I love. Old typewriters are so cool, add in some lace trim and splatter, and I'm in love. What a great stamp set, I have not played with this one enough!
JUNE - KUSUDAMA
It was in the spring that my dear friend Tami asked me to help her make a paper flower bouquet for her wedding. Of course I was thrilled to be a part of her special day in a way that I got to use my talents and love of paper. We set to work cutting paper, folding petals and glueing our fingers together! It was right around that time that I was also planning my daughter's birthday party. I had KUSDAMA flowers on the brain and so I made a Kusudama ball to hang over the table for the party matching our Peacock theme. I had made these years before as Christmas ornaments, which are beautiful too. A great paper craft to try sometime!
JULY - PILLOW GIFTS
I had so much fun making these! But giving them brought me so much more joy! Whenever I go on a Stampin' Up! trip I make pillow gifts for my roommates. Each night I leave them a little something on their pillow. This was one of the gifts I made. I was so thrilled with myself as I made a covered post it note pad holder that holds two pads side by side! And the EOS chapstick pop! The joy of paper crafting runs through my veins!
This creation made the list of faves because it's one of those projects in your head that when I made it, it worked out! In fact even better than I imagined. And this projects is featured in one of my first videos! You really should watch it, and subscribe to my YouTube channel (shameless plug).
SEPTEMBER - SWALLOWTAIL NOTECARDS
A one layer card, I can't believe I did it! Not sure if you know this about me but simple is HARD for me, when it comes to my creations. So, when this challenge came up on Stampin' Royalty and I had to design a card with one layer I was SCARED. I decided to make a card using a technique I learned from another demonstrator, Lydia Fidler (speaking of faves, she is one of my favorite people and I got to meet her IRL at convention this year, highlight!). All that is needed for this card is card stock, ink, sponge daubers, water and a stamp. Be sure to click over to this post to see how I did this, it's so EASY!
Multi-use projects are always a good idea. This little box is not only to hold a treat but it is also a luminary! The die cut stars in the box allow the light from the candle to shine through, so when the candy is gone there is still use for this box and you don't have to worry that your hard work will the scrunched into a ball and thrown out, a crafter's worst nightmare!
NOVEMBER - DIY DSP
All of these projects us a sheet of Designer Series Paper that I made! A fun and relaxing technique that is very rewarding, you just have to convince yourself to cut it up when your done. In the original blog post you can see how I made it, just click on the title "DIY DSP"
DECEMBER - RED AND GREEN CARDS
December's faves required two pictures! These cards were part of one post, a challenge for SSINK to use RED and GREEN. I decided to make a red card and a green card, instead of using both colors on one card. These are my faves because they showcase my new favorite skill, brush lettering. The brush lettering was done using Stampin' Write markers. The other lettering I did using a Project Life journaling pen. If you want to get into brush lettering all you have to do is search it on Pinterest, YouTube and Instagram.
Happy New Year to you. I hope your 2016 is even better than 2015. Thank you for visiting me at my blog and allowing me to share what I love with you. Come back again, I will still be here posting my creations hoping that it will inspire others to try paper crafting and it will bring them joy as it has me.
