It's SSINKspirations challenge day. And this is the inspiration picture.
I was inspired to watercolor my project. So, I started with a piece of Watercolor paper. Then I had to decided on the perfect blue for the back ground.. I pulled out Lost Lagoon, Marina Mist, Tempting Turquoise and Bermuda Bay. Looking at all of them side by side it was clear that Tempting Turquoise was the color for this challenge. I started by squeezing my closed Tempting Turquoise pad, so that some ink would collect on the lid. It was not quite enough ink an entire background, so I added a few drop of Tempting Turquoise ink from the ink refill to the lid. When do a watercolor wash background it is good idea to wet the paper first. So, I used my paint brush with just water to wet the paper then I picked up some of the TT ink from the lid of the pad. I started at the top of the paper and worked my way to the bottom, using back and forth strokes, painted a wash. The color will get lighter as you go, which was the perfect look for my card.
While the paper was still wet I took the Old Olive stamp pad and using the ink in the lid method I painted in the little patch of grass. Then I let the paper dry before stamping the tree trunk. All the stamps I used are from the Sheltering Tree stamp set. I knew that I wanted the tree to have a little more watercolored look. I stamped the tree with Crumb Cake ink and then using my Aqua Painter and Crumb Cake ink painted over the top of the tree, like I was the one painting the tree, softening the lines. Once that was dry I stamped the "blossom" image with Versamark Ink over the top of the tree and embossed it with Melon Mambo powder (retired).
For the finishing details I stamped the "grass" image in Old Olive ink and watercolored over that with Old Olive ink and my Aquapainter. I did not want to cover up and of the background to add my sentiment, so I stamped it on Vellum with the Archival Basic Black ink. Then I adhered it to my card with a two strategically placed glue dots and then some pink glittered enamel dots to hid the glue dots. The little bow clip was the perfect cute thing to finish off this card.
I love the finished result of this card and I know I would not have created this if not for this challenge which is why love being on the SSINK design team, it challenges my creativity and I end up making something like this that I would not have thought of otherwise.
