Hi Stampin' Friends! Today I am showing you how to make your own shaker pieces using a pack of SILICA!

Silica, don't eat it and don't throw it away! It's easy to die and use in shaker cards.
Here's how.
- Empty the contents of a Silica packet into a small dish/container. Not all Silica is created equal. There will be noticeable differences in size and color in the pieces that come out. Different "brands" will also very from other brands.

2. Add 3-4 drops of ink from your choice of ink refill (Bermuda Bay ink used in this picture).

3. Stir the "beads" around, coating all of the pieces with ink.

4. Using a spray bottle spritz a little water on the beads, one spray works. Mix around again. I found this made the ink more smooth and not too saturated.

5. Pour them out onto a paper towel to dry. Let them sit for about 30 mins. They may not need that long to dry, but you want to be safe before using them on a project.

Pretty cool! Now, let's make some SHAKER CARDS!
This week the challenge at Stampin' Royalty is Butterflies. So, I decided to use my DIY shaker bead to make some Butterfly shaker cards.

Let's take a closer look...

See the cute little beads in there. Pour little bead that were destined for the trash, the land fill even! Now, they have been given new life and will bring some joy to who ever gets this card.

Look at the purples. Made only with the Blackberry Bliss ink. Adding the ink and then the water gives you that variety. So pretty.

So, the lesson of the day is RESCUE those little Silica packets, give them new life!
Take a look at the things I used to make these shaker cards.
