Today projects are for Stampin' Royalty's picture challenge.
These little halloween treats are so cute! This is the collection of projects that we will be making at my upcoming kids class on Saturday.
The idea for these projects came from another demonstrator, Lisa Curio and her daughter, I loved their ideas so much I tweaked them for my class. The little tubes are part of the September Something Good to Eat Paper Pumpkin Kit. Take a look at the kit and see the projects you can make with out adding to the kit:
First up are these little test tube mummies.
I started with a 1-1/2" strip of Very Vanilla card stock and tore off the edges. Then I used my bone folder to curl the paper like Christmas curling ribbon. This breaks down the fibers in the paper and I was then able to separate the paper making two pieces. The result is a soft, textured piece of paper, more closely resembling gauze.
Then I sponged the edge with Crumb Cake ink. To adhere this strip to the tube I used Tear and Tape. I added the googly eyes with the glue dots from the kit. The tags are also from the kit and have the cute little halloween images printed right on them. The sentiment is from the stamp set that comes in the kit and is stamped in Old Olive, the stampin' spot provided in the kit.
For the mini card and treat holder, I started with a piece of Basic Black card stock, cut it to 7" x 3".
Fold it in half, and make the "slit" that will hold the test tube by cutting on the fold 1" from the edge and only going down 5/8" of an inch. Repeat this from the other edge, making two cuts. Push the center flap in and you have a space to slide the tube. You can do this by hand with scissors or with a paper cutter.
The Tangerine Tango card stock is 2-3/4" x 2-3/4" and is stamped with the jack-o-lantern face stamp from the kit's stamp set. I stuck the linen thread to the back of the decorative self-adhesive flag and then wrapped it over the tube and used that to tie the card shut. The sentiment is attached with dimensionals.
You can see in the top picture I also included a 2-3/4" x 2-3/4" Whisper White panel on the inside of the card and used another stripped flag there.
As for filling the tubes I found individual packets of Sixlets Halloween candies that fit in the tube exactly. They do sell them like this in all colors as well. I found mine in the Halloween candy aisle at Walgreens, but you can also find them on Amazon. A lot of other candies will fit in the tubes, but for a kids class, I felt the candies needed to be wrapped.
