Hit the Road entry

I'm back from an adventurous weekend of camping that included a raft trip down a lazy creek.  Doesn't sound very adventurous, but we were told this raft trip would take one hour and ended up being a 3 hour tour!  It all ended well, but there was a nervous husband waiting for his girls at the pick up spot.  Not sure yet what the moral of this story is, but we will have a great memory of it!  

Today I am sharing the third project that I submitted to the Designer Showcase Round One submissions. 

This is my favorite of the three, with a look all it's own.  It all started with a custom background. 

This background starts with Rock Candy and River Stone ink pads that I pounced onto a plastic bag.  Then I pressed the plastic bag onto a piece of Whip Cream card stock.  Next I laid down a die cut element from the Border Details Die set, that I thought looked like tire tracks.  I sponged over this with Rock Candy ink.  After sponging I thought a splash of Blue Lagoon would brighten up the background.  The next layer is stamping the Ink Splat stamp randomly over the top in Tangerine Fusion ink, which I stamped off on my scratch paper once to lighten it up a bit.  Last, I added a bit of Silver Silk as another layer of splatter. 

Then it was time to make the focal point, the fun images to finish it off. 

I stamped a Tangerine Fusion piece of card stock with the solid Route 66 sign from the Hit The Road stamp set, Next,I die cut a circle from that card stock using the piercing element that goes with the circle die set.  To give it dimension I sponged the edge of the circle with Rock Candy ink. 

I then stamped 3 more images from the Hit the Road stamp set, the one way sign, the other Route 66 sign and the truck. 

To color the truck I sprayed the card stock with the Blue Lagoon Splash.  Once it was dry I sponged on a bit of Rock Candy ink.  Then I cut out the truck.  When I put the card together, I added a bit of Black Licorice twine to the back of the circle that I roughed up a bit first.  

The very last step for this card was the addition of Journey Glaze to the entire truck. It just needed to stand out more from the background. In person the truck is so shinny and glossy.  

If you did not read in my earlier posts, I was selected as one of the top twenty and am moving on to Round two, creating 3 more projects that I will be sending in to Fun Stampers Journey.  From the twenty they will be narrowing it down to 5 (maybe more) designers.  So, I have been playing when ever I can in my stamp studio, creating and having fun!  The official design team will be announced on August 15th.  At that point I will share my creations with you and passing on my news.

Creature Comforts

Hey there stamping friends!  Today I have a cute card for you made with the Creature Comforts set. 

So Cute, right!!!  And you got to love a stamp set with dies to cut things out for you!!!  

This is one of the cards I submitted for the Designer Showcase, a design team that Fun Stampers Journey is starting.  I was selected as one of the top 20 finalists.  I am currently working on 3 more submissions for round 2.  Then come August 15th the official Design team will be announced.  

What I love most about this card, well, there are two things, first is the background.  If you look closely at the card you can see the background layer has wavy blue lines for the sky.  I did this by dragging my Pool Play stamp pad in a wavy motion across the Pool Play card stock. It is subtle but adds a sky like quality to the card stock.  Second, I love the little critters!  So very cute!  I colored them in with the Journey Color Burst pencils.  I have fallen in LOVE with these pencils!  They make coloring so much fun.

Scrapbook Page for submission

Recently Fun Stampers Journey announced that they are starting a Design Team.  It was open to all Journey Coaches.  I entered three projects, 2 cards and a scrapbook page. This is that scrapbook page.  I was inspired by the photo of my kids at the library with two of our close friends.  I loved the bright colors of the letters that the kids are sitting on. The Be Amazing color collection had the perfect colors for me to use to complete this page. 

To accent this page I added some die cut stars, which I covered in Journey Glaze.  

And of course I used Sparkle Silk to splatter on some beautiful shimmer. 

I added some detail to the photo using the Pocket Cuts Die set, I love the perforated border around the picture.  

The submission period ended and the selection process too.  The results are in and I am one of the top 20 selected to move on to round 2!  So, now I am creating new projects to submit and the group will be narrowed down to 5-10 coaches that will make up the final Design team!  I am so excited to be a part of it.  I will not know until August 15th if I have made the team, but I will keep you posted with all the project submissions for both rounds between now and then.  Check back soon for my two cards I submitted with this page.

Fun Cards Note Pads

Hey Stamping Friends!  Wow, yesterday was amazing!  I had so much fun with my friend, team mates, and customers participating in the RG Presents Event - Journey Holidays Kick Off. 

I hosted the event at my house and had 9 guests.  I wanted to make them all a party favor. And in this party favor I wanted to include something cute that I made.  That cute thing is what I am sharing with you today. 

It's a little note pad holder and the note pad is a fun shaped sticky note pad.

I've had these note pads for a while, I got them at IKEA a few years ago and had yet to use them all.  I thought they would work great inside this holder.  

See that super fun background?  I used Pan Pastels to create this soft look.  First I stamped the Deco Dots Background stamp with Clear Pigment Ink.  Next I used the Party Pop PanPastels  with a sponge applicator.  I rubbed the lighter blue, Beach Breeze, on the left side and the darker blue, Beach Ball, on the right.  It was easy to blend these two colors together in the middle. 

The focal image is from June's Bloom Box's stamp set, Fun Cards. I stamped the image with my favorite black stamp pad, True Color Fusion Black Licorice.  Then I colored the image with my Color Burst pencils.  For the final touch I add some Journey Glaze to the top half of the fan as well as the word "fan".  

To complete my party favor I put the note pad in a cellophane bag, added some chocolate and a sample of Journey Glaze.  

The topper for the bag is very simple. The sentiment is from the Creature Comforts stamp set.  And I featured a NEW product that is coming out in our Journey Holiday catalog on August 1st, they die cut bow.

Neon Bday Card

Last of the three cards we are making at my Birthday Party Stamp Class on 7/19, such a fun way to celebrate my birthday!  

I love making my own backgrounds, layering ink and stamped images makes me feel so artistic! 

To layer the ink for this card I started with the piece of Whip Cream card stock. Then I brought in my Sour Lemon, Orange Rave and Outrageous Pink stamp pads.  With a Dauber I added the three colors of ink to the paper, rubbing the ink in some and stamping circles with the dauber too.  

Then I stamped the Graduated Dots background stamp over the top of the sponging with Black Licorice ink.  INSTANT LOVE!  

For the focal images on this card I used stamps from the To You stamp set.  Again using Black Licorice ink, I stamped the images  on the coordinating card stocks, to match the inked background.  

The cake is stamped on Whip Cream card stock, but it needed to be a little more special, so I covered the entire cake with Journey Glaze.  If you have not already, soon you will realize I have a serious CRUSH on Journey Glaze!  LOOK how clear it dries.  And it is flexible, so it won't crack when you send this card in the mail.  As I have always said, love is in the details.  And adding the glaze is the love on this card!  

This card is very versatile and could be for birthday friends of all ages. To write on the inside you could use a Gel Pen, a chalk marker or add a 1/4 of a sheet of paper.  I am so looking forward to making these cards with my friends for my birthday!  If you'd like to see the other two card we are making you can see them on this blog post and then on this blog post.  You can see all the fun things I used to make this card at the bottom of this post.

Here are the all the fun things I used to make today's card:  

Birthday Card To You

   Hey stamping friends, I have another card made with the To You stamp set to share with you today.  A card we are making at my upcoming Birthday Party Card Class on 7/19.  

 

To color this cake I took my Cosmic Grape stamp pad and made waves with it directly on Whip Cream card stock.  A cool technique I learned from the July Bloom Box.  Then I stamped the cake over the top with Black Licorice stamp pad. I love how it looks like icing. 

And I love that this stamp set has a coordinating die set to go with it so I don't have to cut out my cakes. 

For this card I used the word "happy" from the set to make a background with my Black Licorice ink.  I die cut the pierced circle from the center of the Cosmic Grape rectangle, that is the second layer on my card. I love using the center of the middle panel on my cards, makes me feel so smart and thrifty!  Then you cover it up and no one will ever know there is a big hole in that layer. WIN WIN. 

 

To help my little baby cupcake stand out a little more, I covered it with Journey Glaze.  Can I tell you how much I love my Journey Glaze!  I can not stop my self from putting it on every thing I make.  I dries crystal clear and deepens the color of the ink a little making a new and fun element for my projects.  But mostly I love that the ink does not smear with the addition of the glaze.  Which I feel has a lot to do with the Fun Stampers Journey ink pads.  They are a Fusion Ink, a blend of die based ink and pigment based ink, making for a vibrant crisp image.

To You Birthday Card

I love that the name of the stamp set I am featuring today is called To You. Because the card I am sharing is for my Birthday Party Stamp Class.  I am having a stamping party for my birthday!  I just really wanted to stamp with my friends for my birthday this year!  So, I designed 3 bright and fun birthday cards that we are going to make. 

Today I am sharing one of them, that is inspired by one of the cards in the June Bloom Box (you can see that post here, I'm sure you can spot the inspiration card easily). 

The To You stamp set is one of the sets I got in my Journey Coach starter kit.  And guess what, this set has a coordinating die set, so you don't have to cut those cakes out.  (The green line indicates the dies.)

I used the Star-Dom die bundle to make the back ground and the black stars.  The background was done just by laying out the piercing stars and running them through the Platinum Die-Cutting Machine. For the Black Licorice stars I used both the star dies and the piercing stars.  To dress my cake up I added some Journey Glaze to the candles and heart.  And topped it off with the Black Licorice Twine bow.  

I am really looking forward to stamping with my friends, when you stamp, you make friends with people you may not have met otherwise.  It really is my favorite thing about being a Journey Coach.

June Bloom Box

Hi Stamping Friends!  

Today I want to share with you the cards I made from the June Bloom Box, a subscription box from Fun Stampers Journey. 

This box features the Fun Cards Stamp Set. 

In the box I got 4 make and take kits to make 4 different cards. And I ended up LOVING this stamp set. 

Let's take a look at the kit cards. 

What a great card to send to your bestie!  My favorite part about this card is the SWEET BERRY GINGHAM ribbon!  It made my heart happy!  One of the things I think is great about the Bloom Box is that all the supplies in the box are products from Fun Stampers Journey, so if I try something I like and can go ahead and order that.  This ribbon is one of the next things I will be ordering! 

And then there is the Heart Sparkle Drops!  Yes, I will be ordering those too.  What do you think about the Silk splashes on the card, I love how they dried permanently to the ribbon.  But if you do not like that look you can always skip adding the splatter, or do it just not the card base for a more subtle look, I did that on another card from this kit. This one here:

The splatter on this card is much more subtle, as I put it on and then layered on my elements.  

To color the backgrounds of the little cards I used the little Sponge Dauber.  It's so cool how the little sponges velcro on to the handle, its a great system. 

On this next card I realized I did not have all the supplies that the instructions called for, but I did not let that stop me.  I used what I had to finish the card.  No Silk splatter on this card, as I did not have the right color, but I feel this card has enough that I don't miss the splatter.  

And that Sparkle Tape is pretty yummy!  We got a piece of Black Licorice Sparkle Tape and Whip Cream Sparkle tape in the kit to make this card.  

The last card in the kit has such a cute sentiment. 

Add a gift card for the local coffee shop and you've made someones day!  Is it nice to know that with a little ink and paper you can make someones day?
