Hey there stamping friends. Today I am sharing a cute little Halloween Treat Purse that was the make and take project at the Inking the Way team meeting put on by my upline Becky Roberts. It's a very simple little purse perfect for putting a few Halloween sized candies. What a cool teacher gift or co-worker gift, really who wouldn't love to get a cute little purse with candy in it!?!
The orange purse is the one I made at the meeting. I shared a pictures of it on my Instagram and Jaci commented on it, saying they would be perfect little gifts for her staff. So, this post is for Jaci and the rest of my readers too. I created a few more purses with some little changes, as I did not happen to have a few of the items on hand that Becky used. So, here is how to make this Halloween Treat Purse.
Start with a 6" x 6" piece of card stock.
Score one side at 1-1/2" and 4-1/2"
Score the other side at 2-1/2" and 3-1/2"
Cut on the 1-1/2" and 4-1/2" score lines to the intersecting scoreline, see photo above.
Fold on all the score lines.
Using a corner rounder round the two corners of the large center panels.
Cut two pieces of printed paper for the center of these panels; 2" x 2-1/2". Adhere these to the front and back of the purse.
Cut two handles; 1/4" x 6".
Adhere them to the purse with Mini Brads or staple them on. Later I will show you how to cover your staples if this is the how you end up attaching your handles.
Now you have an option of what you want your purse to look like. You can have straight sides or your sides can flair out.
For a straight sided purse fold in the side flaps and glue them to the large front and back panels.
For a purse with flared sides glue your flaps like this.
Now glue the front and back panels to the center part of the purse.
Now cut a piece of card stock for your closure; 2" x 1-1/4", round two of the corners. Curve this flap with your crease tool, forming it into the shape it needs to be in. On one end of the flap put a strip of Liner Tape, on the other end add a little piece of Velcro.
Adhere the end with the tape to the side of the purse that you have decided is the back.
Then adhere the second piece of velcro to the front of the purse to secure the purse closed. Adhere a bow on the front of this flap to dress it up.
To cover up the staples punch out a 1/4" circle or a circle big enough to cover up the staples you used. I used mini staples so a 1/4" circle works perfect. Attach the circles with a bit of Journey glaze, right over the staple. Then cover the punched circle with more Journey glaze and let dry. Once it is dry repeat this on the back, covering up the other set of staples.
Now you can fill these cuties up with some candy and make someones day with a cute little treat. You can also add some cute things to these too. You can see on my purple purse I added a bat. Make them your own and just have fun.
Here are all the things I used to make these purses. To view any of these items in my On-Line store just click and image.
If you place an order over $35 I have a FREE gift for you, keep reading!

Well, I did something I have not done in a very long time! I joined a swap with other coaches in my team. Not only did I sign up for one swap, I actually signed up for 3! A Halloween, Fall and Christmas swap. I love the cards I created and am so excited to share them with you. Today I am sharing the Fall card I created and a video to show you how I made it as well.
My favorite thing about this card is the blue background paper. I made that paper myself! I used a Gel Press to create it. A Gel Press is a mat or plate made out of oil. When you pick it up it is heavy for its size and rubbery like a silicon mat, but much thicker. To create your own prints on the Gel Press you need acrylic paint and a brayer. You squirt paint on the Gel Press and brayer it to cover the plate. You can use several colors of paint or just one. On this print I use the Polka Dot wall stencil. You can also see some yellow and orange peeking through, that is dried on paint from a previous print. You don't have to clean your plate, let remnants dry there and then the next print you make that wet paint will pick it up for you giving you a nice surprise on the next print you pull. Here you can see the entire 8-1/2" x 11" piece of paper that I cut the piece for this card from.
Sometimes when I look at my whole prints I wonder, what am I going to do with that. And then when I cut it up and combine it with my stamps and ink I am in even more in love with it!
I added some interest to the other pieces of my card with Silks and Splashes, thread and pearls and more. Check out the making of this card in the video below.
Please let me know if you have any questions about this card or the Gel Press. All the products I used to make this card are listed below, to view them in my online store just click on an image.

Hi stamping friends. Today I am sharing one of the cards I submitted for the Designer's Showcase, for round 2 of selections. This card is one that helped me get on the team.
To make this fun and creepy night sky I started with a piece of Whip Cream Cardstock. I die cut at large circle from copy paper and stuck that to my cardstock. This mask will allow a nice circle for my moons to stay white. Then I used my Dauber Dowel to sponge on color around my mask.
I started with Electric Lime. Always start out with a light hand when you want to create a smooth background like this with a Dauber Dowel sponge. Otherwise you will get nice little circles. I brushed on the Electric Lime with a light hand working my way out around the moon. The second color I used was Limeade Splash, overlapping the lime slightly and working my way out towards the edge of the card. The last green I used was Kiwi Slice, again slightly overlapping the last color, blending them together. I told the ink all the way to the edge of the card. The last color I sponged on is Rock Candy, lightly around the edges. Finally, with the mask still on I added a splatter of Sparkle Silk.
I did some more sponging to color my dancing lady. I first embossed the image with clear pigment ink and clear embossing powder on Whip Cream cardstock. Then I sponged on some Rock Candy ink.
I added some details to finish off my card, like the die cut grass and some stamped images form the set.
Here are all the fun products that I used to make this card. Click an image to view that product in my online store.

Have you seen the September Bloom Box?
The cards are so cute and the stamp set is AMAZING! But as with all Bloom Boxes this stamp set is only available for one month! So, if you love the Hello Sunflower stamp set you have to get your Bloom Box right away. You can get your Hello Sunflower Bloom Box HERE.
I was so excited to play with this beautiful stamp set! I have yet to make the cards in my box, but I did make another card. It all stared with a print I made on my Gel Press. When I made it I was not super impressed with the print but then one corner of the paper got me thinking sunflowers.
Here is the print, it is an 8-1/2" x 11" piece of card stock.
Then I cut a piece from it that is 4" x 5-1/4" for my card front, and I chose the yellow corner. Here is what that piece looks like up close.
And this is the card that resulted.
I stamped the large sunflower in Black Licorice ink and colored it with my Color Splash pencils and then blended my coloring with a small Blending Brush filled with water. My favorite part is the blue around the flower!
The crinkled piece of blue card stock is Beach Ball. I wanted to distress it, so I wetted the card stock. Then I crinkled and scrunched up the paper. Wading it up into a ball several times. When I was satisfied, I laid it flat and smoothed it out with my Crease Tool. It was quite wet, so I dried it with my heat tool. That made the paper nice a crisp again, here's what it looked like.
After this I brushed my Whip Cream stamp pad over it, so that the higher areas of the card stock picked up some of the ink and the lower areas did not.
I also stamped the background of the card with one of the sentiments from the stamp set, "YOU ARE Beautiful" in Kiwi Slice ink. I didn't want the sentiment to look perfect so when I stamped it I stamped it repeatedly and quickly about 3-4 times, blurring the image out a bit.
I also splattered a little Sparkle Silk on the background too for hints of shimmer. And I could not leave the card base out, so I stamped it with the Canvas Background stamp with Kiwi Slice ink, giving it the look of texture.
I can not even tell you how much I love making my own backgrounds for my cards with my Gel Press! It inspires me to create cards, which inspires me to make more Gel Press prints. If you'd like to learn more about making Gel Press prints and are in the Boise, Idaho or Eagle, Idaho area I love for you to join my Gel Press class. All the details on the class and links to register are HERE.
And if you get your September Bloom Box with the Hello Sunflower stamp set in it then you should bring it on over on 9/25/17 to my Bloom Box Club. Today I am sharing a card that has a beautiful sunset, created with the PanPastels!
If you'd like to see how I created this background, I did a Facebook live video demonstrating this card. Check it out HERE and follow my page to see all my live videos. Creating this sunset is as easy as rubbing a sponge on card stock. I started with the yellow from the Party Pop PanPastels and rubbed it in a circle in the middle of the card. Then went around it with the orange and then around the edge with red. Using my sponge to blend the colors. The bottom half of the card I wanted to be a dark green. So I blended the yellow, the two colors of blue and some black PanPastels to create my dark forest floor.
Not only did I use my Party Pop PanPastels on this background, I also spritzed it with the Gold Splash to give it some shimmer. Then I stamped my forest image repeatedly over the top on the horizon line with Black Licorice ink. I love how this image has shadows in it, which works perfect with a sunset behind it.
I had a hard time deciding what color of card stock to use for the card base, in the end I liked the Blue Lagoon the best.
The stamp I used with the trees is Stay Wild. It is one of the stamps in our ATS collection. A single stamp that is just $8.95. Of course you can get it for free with a $150 order as well, just one of the perks our hostesses get.
The sentiment I used is from one of our previous Bloom Boxes. Bloom Box is a monthly subscription box. Each month you get an exclusive stamp set and 4 project kits to make with that stamp set. Click HERE to see more about Bloom Box. You could really use any sentiment you have on hand. This would make a great masculine birthday card as well. My hubby thought this card was really cool, I think it will be my birthday card for him this year. Especially since he will be off hunting on his birthday this year. I made three of this card and have mailed them off, I think I am going to have to make a few more!
Here are all the fun things I used to make this card. To see any of these products in my online store just click on the image.

Check out this print I made using my Gel Press, Acrylic Paint and a Brayer.
The Gel Press is a gel like plate that is used to create your own prints. You apply paint or ink to it and then are able to mix colors, add texture and more. Then you pick up that print with a piece of paper. I tell you it is GREAT fun! You can see the Gel Press in action HERE on my YouTube channel.
At first glance it doesn't look like much really. But then I cut several ovals out of this print to make some Christmas gift tags with. And now look how stunning the print looks with some stamped image.
After die cutting my ovals I did add some Silver Silk to the tags, the little splatter of silver gave the background some added dimension and shimmer.
I stamped my tree from the Sparkle Trim stamp set with Fresh Forrest ink and then die cut it out. I popped that onto my tag with Journey Foam squares.
To top off my tree I die cut a snowflake using the Snow Blooms die set from Cool Pool card stock. I glued my snowflake right to the tree. Then I punched out a tag with the Tag This punch from Fresh Forrest card stock. The Merry & Bright Sentiment is from the ATS set, Tag Elements. I stamped it with Whip Cream ink. I added some white string I had on hand to the top of my tag and added to the center of the snowflake with a foam square.
Last touch to my tag is the Special Day Organza ribbon. I punched a whole in the tag and tied on the soft whispy ribbon. I like the ribbon tied kind of loose. That way you can adhere it right to a wrapped gift as is, OR untie the bow and tie it onto a gift bag.
Isn't is so pretty! I made these tags to match the cards that we are making at my upcoming Sparkle Trim Card class.
I like to make party favors for my guests attending my classes and this year for all my Christmas card classes I will be making tags to match their cards.
Here are all the fun things I used to make my tags. You can view any of the items I used in my online store just by clicking that image.

Welcome to the first Designer's Showcase Blog Hop!
What is the Designer’s Showcase? We are a team of ten Journey Coaches from all over the country. Fun Stampers Journey hand selected this group of coaches based on hand stamped submissions that we all sent in. Our goal is to showcase the amazing products that Fun Stampers Journey has to offer and inspire you to create.
If you want to follow along in the blog hop you will find a link below to go on to the next Coach’s blog or facebook page. And at each stop you will find a link to the next, so you can see all of our creations and get to know the 2017-2018 Designer’s Showcase team.
Let me tell you a little bit about me, my name is Carrie Rhoades and I have been a Fun Stampers Journey Coach since June 2017. I am new to this company, but have been a stamping business owner for over 18 years. It was the wide variety of paper crafting products that brought me to Fun Stampers Journey. I am also a military wife and mother of two girls, ages 12 and 9. My girls and I homeschool and are part of a weekly Co-Op school. I am so blessed to have a job doing what I love and being able to be home with my girls. What brings me joy in paper crafting is that I do not have to be an artist to be creative. And what I love about being a Journey Coach, the friendships that I have with my team and fellow coaches.
The theme for this month's blog hop is Mixed Media. I choose to showcase the PanPastels for my creation.
I used the Party Pop PanPastel set to make the background on this card.
I thought it would be easier explained to you in a video. Here is the HOW TO video on this card, a technique I call Layered Poppin' PanPastels.
That background is so cool and was so much fun to bring to life. The possibilities are endless with this technique.
Here are all the products I used to make this card. Click on any image to view it in my online store.

Hi stamping friends. Today I have another creation to share with you from my Gel Press.
Take a look at the paper I started with for todays card.
Here is how I made this paper using my Gel Press:
I really wanted to make a Blue and God Christmas card with this piece of paper and I will tell you it took quite a bit of playing around to get the finished card. But in the end I love how it turned out.
In some of the dots you can see where the blue and gold ran together a bit, which is part of the magic of making your own prints on the Gel Press, those areas have a bit of green to them. So, I added a piece of Lemon Grass card stock to this card to bring out that hint of green.
I just stamped my image from Holiday Celebrations stamp set in Clear Pigment Ink and embossed it with Gold powder. Then I added some gold accents, die cut snowflakes, gold pearls, gold tinsel, and Special Day Organza ribbon!
You can see all the things I used to make this card below, to view any of the items in my online store just click on it.

Did you see my post earlier today about the Media Mix special? Here is a link just incase you have not seen it yet.
I thought I would share a card I made using some of the items from the Media Mix special.
On of the best things on the Media Mix special, in my opinion, is the GEL PRESS! It is a large (8-1/2" x 11") plate that is made of gel. It reminds me of very firm jello. You use the plate to spread around ink or paint. Then you can make patterns in with anything you can think of, yarn, plastic bag, lids, stamps, stencils, etc. To capture this creation you made, you lay down a piece of card stock and pull that print right off the plate. It is AMAZING! It really makes you feel like an artist.
Here is a print that I pulled from my Gel Press, where I was cleaning paint off my brayer from making a print. Not only did I get the red and black paint off my brayer but when I pulled the paper off the wet paint pulled up some dried paint left on the plate giving me a "patina" look.
It may look like a scrap, a piece you'd throw away. but I saw something cool in this print and decided to create a card with it. I cut a piece from it that measures 3-7/8" x 5-1/8". I splattered a bit of Silver Silk on top and sprayed a little Green Olive Splash on top. These products result in a subtle finish when added to the top of this print, as on of the Acrylic paints I used was very glossy. I also, die cut a perforated rectangular frame into it, giving it some more texture and interest.
Then I pulled out my Hit the Road stamp set, one of the sets from my Journey Coach starter kit. I LOVE this set. I stamped the truck and colored it with my Journey Color Burst pencils, trying to give it a bit of an aged look by adding spots of black and dark green. Here's how the card turned out.
Now let me tell you about a few of the other elements on this card.
There are two things I am most excited about on this card. One is the Route 66 sign. I wanted a "vintage" like look for my sign. So I mixed some silver and black embossing powder together. Check out that sign! I'm in love with it!
Second, look at the panel behind the truck that looks like peeling paint. Well, it is! Sometimes you get layers of paint dried onto your Gel Press. One of the best ways to remove that paint is with a piece of packing tape. The tape, peels off that stuck on paint. I thought the tape looked so cool, I had to keep it and incorporate it into my card. So, I added it, sticky side up to my card using some White liner tape to hold it to the card. Most of the sticky was gone from the tape, so I did not have to worry about that.
When the card was all said and done I had to do ONE MORE THING. The truck needed to POP a little more to be the focal point of this card, so I covered that baby with Journey Glaze. Now this sun baked, rusting truck, looks like a vintage beauty!
I had so much fun making this card I really lost track of time. Having a job that brings me so much joy is a real blessing. My girls are in the room visiting me and painting, a rare moment with creative peace, I love it!
Thank you for taking the time to stop and visit my blog and let me share with you my creations! Please let me know if you have any questions about this card or the Gel Press. If you like to see the Gel Press in action here is a video I made, doing some basic print making.
And here are the all the things I used to make this card:
