Does woodgrain bring you joy? That's crazy right! That a little texture and varying colors of brown would bring a person joy. Well it does for me! I love all things woodgrain! And when my bestie Georgie told me she had created a print on her Gel Press that had the look of woodgrain I was like WHAT, STOP IT, tell me more. And this sparked a swap. Georgie and I both are Gel Press obsessed. Making our own background papers makes us giddy and when your in your forties and something makes you feel giddy again, it's kinda a big deal! We now have so many prints that we created, we decided to swap some with each other. For this swap, we cut our 8-1/2" x 11 prints into card front size and sent each other 15 mystery prints. I picked two of hers that I wanted us to make cards with. This print is one of the, the WOODGRAIN print. Georgie is also making a card with this print. So today you get to see BOTH of our creations.
This is what the print started out like, this is a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece. To give it more of a woodgrain look I took a few of my brown toned ink pads and used a dragging motion to create more streaks and lines over the paper. Here's the result.
Joy and giddiness collided when I saw this! Gel Press Woodgrain!
When came to making my card I decided to pair it with another of my faves, Cool Pool card stock.
I hope that my card has brought you some joy. I would love to share with you how to make Gel Press Woodgrain plus how to make the reverse image of the beaver on Facebook live tonight. So, click over to my Facebook page, like it, follow it, leave me a comment and then come back tonight at 9:30pm MST and I'll show you how you can recreate this look!
Now, you should really click over to Georgeann Manning's blog, Stamping Everything, and check out her creation with this print.
And if you did not catch the bubble wrap print post from our swap you can find that one HERE.
Here you can find all the products I used to make this card. Click on any of the images to view them in my On-Line store.
Thank you so much Laura!
