Do you need a new and easy DIY gift idea? These fabric flowers are perfect gifts that are easy to make with a steel rule die and some fabric scraps.
For today's flowers I used the Summer Bouquet Steel Rule Die by Fun Stampers Journey.
With a steel rule die you are able to easily die cut multiple layers of fabric at one time (and card stock). Which means for the flowers I am about to show you I only had to run my fabric through my Platinum Die cutting machine ONE TIME! (NOTE: this die is 8-1/2" x 11", and will only fit on the Platinum Die Cutting Machine.) Fast and easy!
With some folding, gluing and layering, I made this flower broach. Read to the bottom to find a link to the the video tutorial.
This die has two different flower shapes on it, one with pointed petals and the other with more heart shaped petals. This broach above is made with the pointed petals flower. This flower head band was created using the heart shaped petal flower.
You can see on these two black and white flowers I also used some tulle flowers in my layers.
For this fabric flower, I used the pointed petal flower, but did not add tulle. This flower is on a piece of elastic cording, I'm using to dress up my planner for St. Patrick's Day. It also works to hold the planner open to the month. So when I open my planner it is on the month of March.
My favorite flower of the bunch is this pink flower made with vintage fabric for my purse.
I used the flower with the heart shaped petals and some off white tulle. The flower in the center is from the Love Buds accessory pack. I added ribbon to the back of this flower so that I could tie it on to the handle of my purse. This purse, The Journey Girl Signature Tote, can be found HERE.
The last flower is a smaller flower, made with denim! I love DENIM! The flower in the center was hand made by a friend of mine. Can't go wrong with denim and pearls! The pearl bead was with the feathers, which I found a the craft store a few years ago. I had it for another project and save the left overs for another use. I love the feathers with the fabric flowers!
If you'd like to see how to make these flowers I made them on my Facebook page last night. Did you know you can join me LIVE every Friday night for a new project?
