Market Tote Gift Card Holder

Time to share the last post for May's Stamp set of the month! 

Every Monday in the month of May I have shared a project using the Bushel & a Peck stamp set on my Facebook page.  Stamp set of the month means that I will send you a card kit to make a card with this stamp set when you purchase it from my online store during the month of May.  This is the project I shared this last Monday. 

This is actually two projects rolled into one gift. The first was the Card Carrier bag.  I altered the bag slightly to make it wider, so that you can put a larger gift inside it. It is simple to do with the addition of two score lines.  A great idea I got from my upline, Becky! 

Just score the bag 1/2" up from the existing bottom score line and 1/2" in from the existing score line on the side of the bag (the side with the gusset not the side with the tab for gluing).  Repeat this on the second bag, creating new score lines to make your bag wider. Scroll down for a video tutorial on how to do this. 

Both bag are stamped with images from the Bushel & a Peck stamp set and splattered with Cranberry Bliss Silk for a fun background. 

The second project was turning the Market Tote die cut basket into a gift card holder.  

Here's how you make it.

Die cut two baskets, two handles will be die cut with that for a total of 4 handles. 

Glue two handles back to back to make each handle stronger, for a total of 2 handles. 

Trace the basket on to a different color of card stock and cut out this piece so that it is a little smaller than your trace line. Glue this to the back of the basket, creating a liner.  Repeat this for the second basket. 

Cut 5 small foam squares in half and line the sides and bottom of one basket with them, on the back side.  Remove the release paper and adhere the second basket to it, so that the back sides of the baskets face each other.  

Add some groceries to the basket, using stamped images from the Bushel & a Peck stamp set, gluing them to the back of the top basket.  

Add a piece of twine to the handles if you'd like to tie it around the handle of a gift bag. 

Insert your gift card. 

Put a couple cute tea towels in the bag, so some utensils.  Maybe some quick and easy go-to recipes.  I think these would make great gifts for someone in-between jobs or a friend who just had a major expense come up that they were not expecting. Maybe someone who just bought a new house, a new neighbor or a kid moving out to be on their own for the first time.

Bow Banner

Did you know I LOVE banners?  I can't even tell you how many I have made over the years.  And yet I found myself needing another banner!  I hang up a banner in my craft room over one of my windows that you see as soon as you walk in.  I had an Easter banner up way longer than it should have been.  I wanted a banner that could be used anytime of the year, in-between holidays. I love bright colors and couldn't decide on what color to use, so I went with rainbow, which is very popular in my house, with my 9 year old daughter. 

 

The Banner Parade and the Create-A-Bow die set made quick work of this banner. 

The colors I used for my rainbow are:

Citrus Cooler

Sour Lemon

Electric Lime

Beach Breeze

Lavender Fusion

 I added a tag to each bow, which is the smallest piece from the Banner Parade die set.  Each one is stamped with a sentiment from the stamp set, Text Happy.  Little words of encouragement. 

It's the perfect little banner for my stamp room, I love all the color!

Makery Challenge #4

Hello my stamping friends. Today is Makery Challenge No. 4!  

I can not believe it has been four months since Barbara and I started the Makery Challenge. It is so much fun creating with friends,  Barbara and I have loved that even though we are a state apart we have this fun challenge each month to bring us together. I'm so blessed to have Barbara on my team. Below you will find the challenge for this month followed by the card I made for this challenge and then the card that Barbara made. 

I was so excited to use the Lots of Dots die, I've had it for a few months and had not even opened it.  Shame on me!  I love polka dots so much I knew it was a die I wanted to have on hand, as it could be used for so many things. 

I used the die to create the background for my card, die cutting a piece of Electric Lime card stock. 

I stamped and cut out the images from the Bloom For You stamp.  To color the flower image I used two techniques.

1. I stamped the flower image on Cosmic Grape and on Electric Lime card stock.  I cut out the flower from the Cosmic Grape and the two leaves from the Electric Lime. 
2. I colored in the bulb like part of the flower using a Blending Brush and Sour Lemon Silk.  I did the same for the branch like pieces, but with Electric Lime Silk.

To add a bit of the same shimmer I got on these small parts of the image, I painted on the paper pieced parts of the flower with the coordinating silk, just accenting the flower and leaves.  It's really easy to use your silks to stamped images.  Just shake up the bottle of Silk, use the brush to add some to a nonporous surface, like an acrylic block.  Use a Blending Brush to pick up the color and paint with it.  It adds color and shimmer, you will love it! 

For my ribbon I chose Special Day Organza ribbon, which just so happens to be the same ribbon that Barbara chose for her card!  To finish off my card I covered the saying with Journey glaze and filled each hole on the background with it as well. I love the element of shine this gives, it just a little something special for this card.

Color Me Happy projects

This week I have been having fun playing with my May Bloom Box.  A Bloom Box is a subscription box that comes to your door with an new stamp set and four projects to make with that set. 

This week I made two of the cards in the box as well as two cute things to go with those cards. 

The sentiment on this card is what lead to the making of the chocolate bar wrap. I love you more than..... Chocolate! 

I used the design from the card to make this gourmet chocolate bar wrap.  I stamped the same background in black ink for a fun black and white background, with a little bit of color peaking out at the edges.  I repeated the layered circles, using different colors. 

Here is the second card and a matching note pad. 

I really love the black and white with a pop of color. 

I made a little belly band to go around the note pad and again, repeated the design from the card on to this wrap.  

Try using the same elements on one project you love to make a coordinating gift or card, it takes some of the stress off thinking what to make.  And I had a lot of fun playing with how I could replicate the look of a cute card design in a different way.

Bushel & a Peck Recipe Cards

I'm sharing another creation with the Bushel & a Peck stamp set today.  The Bushel & a Peck stamp set is my Stamp Set of the Month, which means a FREE GIFT for you when you purchase this set at my online store!  Everyone who purchase this set from me will get an exclusive card Kit in the mail, so you can make your first card with your new set on me!

This stamp set screams to be used for recipe projects. 

So I made some cute and easy recipe cards with a little ink and paper and this fun set.  Which then lead to the Envelop-Box to put them in. 

In this photo you can see the box from both the front and the back as well as all four of the recipe cards I made to fit in to the box. 

My favorite part of these recipe cards is the background.  I mounted several of the small food images from this stamp set on one block and stamped it repeatedly on Black Licorice card stock with Whip Cream ink. 

I accented each card with a strip of printed paper, twine  and stamped images from the set. 

The finished size of the cards is 5-1/2" x 4-1/4".  The back side of the cards are blank, so you can write or adhere a recipe to them. 

The fit so nicely in the Envelo-Box, which is made from the die set of the same name, Envelo-Box Die Set. 

Not only does this box fit my recipe cards perfectly but it would be the perfect thing to put cards that are very layered and have a lot of dimension.  My brain is spinning with all the ideas of fun things you could put inside this envelo-box.

Post It Flag Holder

May is a busy month of gift giving.  We have graduations, Mother's Day, and teacher appreciation. This month I am also making little gifts for my team who are going with me to Fun Stampers Journey convention. Today's little gift holds Post It Flags.  I am giving these to my girls because at Convention we are the first to get our hands on the brand new FSJ catalog.  We will be pouring over that and squealing like little girls on Christmas morning. So, the flags are for us to mark the catalog with things we love, have to have, are dying over, and things cute enough to eat. 

The colors of the Post It note flags are what inspired this project. They reminded me of the colors used in the May Bloom Box. 

I used the Color Me Happy Stamp set from the May Bloom Box kit and was inspired by one of the cards in the kit. 

I love that the set has a mix of background images, sentiments and focal images.  

The actual holder for my Post It Flags is the Gift Card Sleeve. Which is part of the Banners and Bows Bundle. 

Here are a few tips when making this project. 

 ~The insert for the flags is 2-3/8" x 3-1/2"

~Add White Liner Tape to the back of the flags while still in their container  to keep them lined up, taping them together.  

~Before gluing the flaps of the gift card sleeve into place, lay the insert with the flags on it in place.  Then fold over the flaps and glue them down.  Otherwise you will not have enough room to get the flags in and out of the holder. Make sure to hold the flaps down for a minute or so while the glue dries and repeat with the bottom flap. 

~For the tassel like element at the top of the holder, cut 5 pieces of twine at about 7" long.  Punch a hole in the top of the holder and insert 4 strands of the twine.  Fold in half so that the ends of twine line up.  Take the 5th piece of twine and tie around the folded twine in a knot. Pull the ends up to now be part of the tassel.  Trim the ends so that the are all the same length.

Leather Earrings

Need an easy last minute Mother's Day gift?  Grab some leather, earring pieces and a steel rule die. 

Using a Steel Rule die and a die cutting machine made it so easy for me to make these cute earrings.  The die I used is the Summer Bouquet Die. I grab some leather like material from the craft store as well as some earring hooks and jump rings.  Having a pair of jewelry pliers helps a lot in making earrings to and if you are a crafter they will be something you will used again and again. 

Here's a step by step on how to make Leather Earrings. 

1. Die cut two of the leaf shapes using the leather of your choice. When placing the leather on the die have one piece face down and one piece face up.  You can cut at least 2 layers of leather on a steel rule die, more if it is light weight. 
2. If you want more than one layer of leather on your earring, then repeat step one, either with a different leather or the same.  Here I die cut the larger leaf in a different leather. 
3. Using a piercing tool, like the Bloom Tool, pierce a hole in the top of the leather.  I prefer a piercing tool over a hole punch, because the hole left by a hole punch may be too big. 
4. Use jewelry pliers to open up a jump ring.  Insert this into the hole in the top of the earring and then close the jump ring. 
5. Open up a second jump ring with the jewelry pliers and put an earring hook onto it. Before closing this jump ring thread it onto the jump ring already on the leather leaf.  The addition of the second jump ring helps the earring hang with the front side facing out instead of going sideways.  Just make sure you earring hook is facing the back before closing that second jump ring. 
6. Repeat these steps to create a second earring.  Remember in step one we die cut the leaves with one piece of leather face up on the die and the other face down on the die?  This helps your earring have a "matching" look instead of the curve of the leaves going in the same direction when you are wearing them the curves both go towards your face or away, if you prefer.  

These earrings are so light weight you can barely tell you are wearing earrings at all. Which is nice for a large set of earrings. 

Here are some fun twists you can try....

After die cutting your leather, spritz it with Shimmer Gold Splash.  Allow this to dry before adding the earring elements. The result is added shimmer that catches in the light as your earrings move!

You can also alter the leather by cutting fringe along the edge.  Giving your leaves texture and dimension. 

For this look, fold your die cut leather leave in half and cut out the center, using the shape of the leaf as your guide.

3D Bread Tag Box

It's Teacher Appreciation Week! 

I thought a little apple themed gift would be perfect for the occasion. 

I die cut a  bread tag die as the base for a cute tag for my little seed starter pot.  Which I filled with goodies and fun things for a teacher. 

The barrel of apples is from the Bushel & a Peck stamp set, which was voted by my Facebook and Instagram followers as the May Stamp Set of the month. 

 

The second little gift is a 3D Bread Tag die to hold a gift or treat. 

You need to die cut two Bread Tag dies to make this.  Then you need a piece of card stock that measures 4-1/4" x 3" for the actual box piece that goes between the two tags. Score this piece of card stock at 1" on all sides.  Cut on four of the short score lines to make 4 tabs to glue the box together. Now glue a tag to either side of the box.  Then use your fingers to push the sides of the box in, making gussets. Decorate the font of the box as you like and use a piece of ribbon to tie the two tags together. 

Here are some ideas of what you can put inside this box; suckers, chocolate squares, hand sanitizers, glue sticks, jewelry, cash, etc.

Tri-Fold Gift Card Sleeve

Are you getting graduation announcements in the mail, tis the season! I've received half a dozen and so it's time to make some cute things for graduates! 

I've used the Gift Card Sleeve to make a cute Tri-fold gift card holder. 

You slide the belly band off and open it like this...

Now you have two pockets for gift cards and a place to write a little congrats message to the graduate.  The Bravo Grad stamp set is a great set to have on hand for this time of year. I especially love the first works stamp!  This project would be great for any occasion, Mother's Day, Baby Shower, birthday, wedding, etc.  Just change up the printed paper and stamp set to suit the recipient. 

It's a pretty easy project with 3 die cut Gift Card Sleeves and a little cutting.  Check out what the die looks like, it's also really cute on it's own, a little mini gift card like envelope.

Donut Worry Recipe Page

Donut Worry, but hurry!  The Donut Worry stamp set is retiring from the FSJ collection.  And right now it is on sale!  So, this is a great time to add it to your collection.  Let me show you one more project with this cute stamp and die set. 

I've created a recipe page with my favorite baked donut recipe!  I found this recipe on line and need a good place to store it, as it has become a recipe I have made several times. So why not make it cute, right! 

For the background of my page I stamped the donut image in Oatmeal Cookie ink on to the 6" x 8" piece of Bubble Gum card stock.  Then I splattered the page with Bubble Gum silk.  Silk is like bottled shimmer and it feels like you are adding magic to your project when you splatter it on your projects! Adding the splatter on this page reminds me of the mess made in the kitchen when I bake something.  That little bit of flour dust that gives away the fact that there will soon be something sweet to eat. 

To accent the page I stamped the same donut in Oatmeal Cookie ink on Oatmeal Cookie card stock and die cut it.  For the chocolate glaze I stamped the same donut with Dark Roast ink onto Hazelnut Blend card stock (dark brown ink on a medium brown card stock).  I fussy cut the glaze out and glue it on top of my donut, voilà, good enough to eat! 

The strawberry milk might be my fave. I stamped the glass image onto Whip Cream card stock with Dark Roast ink and die cut it with its matching die. Then I colored in the milk with Bubble Gum PanPastel (from the Confectionary Days collection). 

The sentiment was die cut from Sweet Berry card stock using the Sweet Text Bubbles die set.

Coaches are welcome to participate.

Therefore, it takes about 10 -12 days after the deadline for me to order, cut, prepare and ship all the class kits.  Class Kits can only be mailed within the United States.
