Do you ever loose your creative mojo? It's a sad place to be when you have lost your inspiration to do the thing you love the most, create. I have been there and today I am sharing secret that has helped me find my mojo again when I have lost it.
When I am stuck, don't know what to create, or what to do with a certain stamp set and I can't not find my mojo anywhere, I look for a challenge.
I'm sure you've seen them on the world wide web, because that is where we crafters are when we are not making, right! A challenge could be based on color, a picture or a sketch of a card layout. The challenge is presented and, if you take the challenge you then create a project inspired by that challenge.
Here's an example of a challenge, a card sketch challenge.
Every week the team Inking The Way, that I am a member of does a challenge, and this sketch was challenge for last week. For me just having a start of an idea that a challenge offers is most times enough to jump start my mojo. I jump in and start putting something together for the challenge and before you know it that shy mojo sneaks its way in.
Here is the card inspired by this sketch challenge.
I used a window sheet as the card front. The sentiment on the inside of the card lines up with the center flower on the front of the card, so when it is closed you can not see it.
I repeated the flowers on the squares on the inside of the card so that it covered up the adhesive that holds the squares to the front of the card. There is something else that is special about this card. It happens to be the BONUS card for my July Stamp Set of the month. Which means, everyone who purchased the Cottage Bouquet stamps set (used on this card) at my online store got a kit and tutorial to make this card in the mail as a free thank you gift from me!
Now, I hope you are feeling inspired and that next time you are running low on mojo you'll seek out a challenge to jump start the creativity. If you use this sketch challenge for a creation, I'd LOVE to see it. If you have other tips on finding your mojo please leave a comment and let us all know.
If you'd like to see what the August stamp set of the month is, come find me on Facebook. I do a live demonstration every Monday night at 8:30pm MST with the stamp set of the month.
