After making this card I thought, it looks like a faux shaker card. I LOVE shaker cards and make them a lot. It's just so much fun to have a card that you can interact with and has a bit of a surprise to it.
For this card I just wanted a window and in that window I put a piece of printed paper. This piece of printed paper has scattered pieces of candy. The two together make a faux shaker card, don't you think?
Here's two other things I did to give this card it's shaker feel.
The card front layer is popped up, adhered to the card base with foam squares. This gives dimension and a shadow, both things a shaker card has.
Second, I outlined the heart window. Here's how, I die cut a heart from Cosmic Grape card stock, with the same size heart die I used for the window. When you do this the edge of the die presses into the card stock enough to make an impression. I used this impressed line of the outside of the heart die to cut out a thin heart frame.
I dressed up my little monster, from the Eyes on You stamp set, with some very fun accessories by FSJ.
I gave hime some fun eye balls, a pair of glasses and a pet kitty.
The eye ball stickers are Monster Eyes. The glasses are hard plastic stickers called Spectacle Fun. The kitty is from the Spooky Eve stickers set, a mix of chip board stickers and rhinestones. The black rhinestones are glittered and ombre, love!
I colored my monster with color pencils. The trick is to do light layers of 2-3 shades of a color. Color in soft circles, adding more layers and blending the colors. If you pressed hard and get that shiny look, you have now filled in the tooth of the paper and you will not be able add more color or blend. With soft layers you are able to gradually build up the color and blend those colors together.
