Not many people know this about me but I love all things vintage Coca-Cola! I have a little collection of things, that began when I was in high school. Once upon a time I had these things displayed in my kitchen. The funny thing is I don't really drink soda at all. But I love the colors, the lettering, and advertising of vintage Coca-Cola. It just makes me smile. So, today's card was a joy to make for me. It incorporates so many of my favorite things. Coca-Cola, shaker card and my love of lip balm creations.
I am in LOVE with the entire lip balm line of products from My Favorite Things! This is my third creation since getting the Lip Balm Window and Frame Die-namics set set and Lip Balm Shaker Frames. If you missed them be sure to check out my Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Fruit Loops cards.
For my glass of soda I created a blended background with Tea Stain and Ground Espresso Distress Oxide inks. The glass, straw and label on the cup are all from the Coffee First die set by FSJ. It's a versatile die set that is not just for coffee creations. And the shaker elements inside my glass are the Clear Bubbles Sequins by Honey Bee Stamps. It's so fun combining the products I have into one perfect creation.
One of my favorite parts of this card is how amazing the background stamp suits the front of this card. I used the Graduated Dots background stamp by FSJ to add some interest to the font of the card and it is like this stamp was made for Coca-Cola creations!
You can catch the making of this card on my latest YouTube video below.

Today's card is all about a challenge to use a patterned paper that I do not like. I feel like this happens to all of us paper crafters, you get a pack of paper that you love, well, all but this one print. And you hope you like the other side of it. Well today I thought we'd figure out how to use that patterned paper that you do not love. These are my tips and tricks for turning your least loved paper into a WOW card, or a least a card you like.
I have been known to have an aversion to yellow, specifically a dark mustard yellow. So, when I saw the mustard yellow heart pattern in the Follow Your Heart paper pack I was definitely put off. But I decided to take it on as a challenge. I was going to make a card that I liked using this paper.
Here are the things I did to create a card with this paper that I liked.
Tip One: Use an element on the card that you already love.
With all the cards I have been making with this stamp set I have been playing around with different colors for the typewriter. So, I used my Wild Honey Distress Oxide ink pad to stamp and emboss the typewriter with clear embossing powder. Nothing makes you love a new stamp more than embossing it! And how cute is this typewriter in yellow!
Tip Two: Use a technique that you love.
And I knew if I used a technique that I loved doing I would also help me to create something I loved. So, I decided to create my own background and use the paper as a layer for this card. I found three shades of yellow in my Distress Oxide ink pad collection to make an ombre background. Using these three shades of yellow was a way of toning down the mustard yellow in a paper. After blending these three colors, light to dark on Bristol Smooth card stock I stamped over the top.
Tip Three: Incorporate an oldie but a goodie.
I stamped over the top with one of my all time favorite background stamps, Graduated Dots. I inked it up with the same three colors of distress oxide that I used for my ink blended background, in the same order, and stamped it on that background.
Tip Four: Use a PIECE of the not my favorite paper, instead of covering your card with it.
I pulled out a shape I created for my Sending My Love tutorial. It's resembles the shape of the paper coming out of the typewriter. I traced this on to the patterned paper and onto a piece of black card stock. I cut them out and layered them as a layer to mount my typewriter and other stamped images too.
Tip Five: Bring in embellishments that coordinate.
Right now I am in love with the embellishment pack from FSJ called, All The Things. Honestly, have the reason I love them is the name! But this pack has a great variety of colors and it comes with gems and sequins! And guess what it has great yellow gems. So I added three of them to give the card a little something special.
If I had to put all my tips into one, I'd say is was to pair that ugly duckling paper with things you already love. And that is where the Black Licorice silk came into play. For one, I love the silks by FSJ and two, I love the Black Licorice silk. I thought on this card it would look like spilt ink.
So, the moral of this story is, take on the challenge of PLAYING. Take that funky paper and just play with it by bringing in stamps, techniques and elements that you love. You will surprise yourself and have fun. In the end, you might just have a card you love.
So, did I love the card I ended up with. I think I do! I love the cute out typewriter letters saying "note" on the typewriter paper. I love the look of the spilt ink and that background is all kinds of right! I played with shades of yellow that I do like so not to focus on the mustard. And the result is definitely a card I am happy with.
You can watch the making of this card in the video below, my facebook live from last night, In the video you can check out the other version of this card, where I sponged the edges of the patterned paper. Let me know which one you like better.

It's time for another FSJ Creative Team Blog Hop! I am excited that we are sharing with you items from the new release, Easter Blessings.
The new products I get to share are my FAVORITE things in this new release; the Sweet Home Accents Die Set. This set is designed to go with the Gable Favor Box, from the last release in December. I love that I now have fun new dies to use with my Gable Favor Box to turn it into a house. If you are not familiar with the Gable Favor Box die set, check out my blog post featuring it HERE. You can see the Sweet Home Accents Die set below, a set of 9 dies.
There are so many cute things you can do with these dies and I am excited to share them with you today. I have created 5 different houses with this set and the Gable Favor Box. So, let's take a look. And if you scroll down you will also find a video introducing this die set and showing it use.
I really had so much fun making these little houses! And when I realized I could use my Winter Build-a-Scene dies with it for the roof and fence I was thrilled. The printed paper I used on these boxes is also from this release, it is the Create and Bloom Prints pack, check out my video to see all the prints, and I have linked it with all the products at the end of this post.
Next up is the Orange house, it might be my favorite.
Look at the little kitty in the window! And the gingham roof. I also used the Border Basics die set for a few of the roofs. Any scallop die or punch could be used to make the roof for these houses. I partially die cut the large rectangle die from this set to create a door that opens and closes.
Most all the the elements added to the front of these die cut boxes are doubled or tripled up to make them more sturdy. You just die cut two or three of the same piece, glue and stack them together to make a thicker element. This gives them a more 3D look.
For this yellow house I cut the rounded window die apart, saving the rounded part for the window on the door. And if you watch the video you can see how I made the chimney on the orange and yellow houses, using the flower pot die.
All of the door knobs on the houses are gems from the All The Things accessory pack. I love that I was able to do a rainbow of houses and use just one accessory pack for all the doors. I guess that's why it's called "All The Things".
The other thing I love about this die set is the tiny heart that comes in it. I love a tiny heart die. I need them in every shape and size really! I mean who doesn't!?! For this house I used the bottom half of the rounded window only, cutting off the rounded top. The curtain piece is from the Winter Build-a-Scene die set. And, I did some partial die cutting to get the rounded door.
And I have to say, this plaid paper is my FAVEorite print int he Create and Bloom prints!
There was not a print in this pack I wanted to use for my blue house, so I brought out the Buffalo Check stencil. I mean who does not want to live in a buffalo checked house? RIGHT!?!
This house is like the DIY, upcycle, reduce, reuse, recycle house. I saved the little negative pieces from the rounded window; the squares and the tear drop shapes. I then tiled the roof with the squares and I made a flower with the raindrop shapes. Waste not want not. And I am now feeling like I am part of the tiny house movement!
Have you noticed that my windows are backed with Vellum? I love that added touch to the windows. And if you'd like to see how I made these boxes check out the video below.

Now it is time to hop along and check out the other projects created with the Easter Blessings release. From here you are headed to Christine Chan's blog, Love of Sparkles. Here's a little sneak peek of what you are going to find there, also using a new cute little die set!
And here is the entire list of blogs on the blog hop:
Today's project happens to be the gift bag I am giving to my girls this morning with a few goodies in it. I used my Let's Toast Pull Tab Add On Die set from Lawn Fawn to make this monster pop up out of the grass.
I folded the legs of the monster to make him short and then when you pull the tab he pops up and gets tall. It's too cute!
I also attached a sentiment to the pull tab that is revealed when he pops up.
Just putting a couple little things in here for my girls. I know these bags will bring them a smile.
I hope you have a fabulous Valentine's Day and get to show love to someone.
You can watch the making of this bag in the video below.

I have linked the supplies used at the bottom of this post for your convenience. Please let me know if you have any questions, I am glad to help and love to hear from you.
I am having so much fun lately creating interactive cards. So, I thought I'd play with my stamp set of the month, Sending My Love and the Window Pop die set to try and make a pop up desk for the typewriter to sit on.
When you pull up on the red arrow, the desk pops up and the sentiment is revealed.
I also added a second sentiment using with Love Arrow stamp set on the pull tab.
Sending a hand made card is always going to bring a smile, and one that is interactive is just so much fun.
You can see the making of this card, the how to's the measurements in the video below.

Are you like me and LOVE critters? I love little animal stamp set. I love all things woodland. And so when I had the chance to get the Create A Pal die set from FSJ I jumped on it. This die set has so many elements the critters you can make are countless. And you can die cut these pieces to make cards or put them on boxes, bags, tags, scrapbook pages, etc. The combinations and creations and options are limitless. So, time to put my imagination in to full gear. Okay, I might have had the help of Pinterest. I searched punch art critters, die cut critters, etc. and got lots of ideas on animals that I could create with these dies.
This die set is part of the Returning Favorites Sale at FSJ and it currently only 29.95, which is over 50% off! I'm sure you love a great deal as much as I do, if so you can check out this die set HERE.
So, let me share them with you. Each of the projects I am sharing with you are cards, mostly 4" x 4" cards. I just thought this would be a fun and easy way to play and make a lot of different critters. Then I only had to think about the faces and not what I was going to put them on.
First up and possibly my favorite is the cow. All the elements to make her sweet face are die cut from this set. I added a bit of sponging to the pink elements and some gel pen highlights.
Next up we have the sly raccoon. You can see I used the same die cut I used for the cow's snout for the raccoon's mask. And they have the same ears. And again, I used a white gel pen to add light accents.
Another fave in this batch of critter cards is the pig. Now, this card is 3" x 3" because the piece that I decided should be the pig nose is small and it just did not work on the bigger size card.
His tail is just a 1/8" strip of card stock that I wrapped around the handle of a small paint brush to curl it.
Now check out my skunk, she's pretty sweet looking, if not smelling.
You could use a lot of the same elements on this card to create a cat. I say that because my kids thought this one was a cat, until I told them it is a skunk. I love the addition of the pink cheeks, they really up the cuteness factor.
Now for the card which was the entire reason I got this die set. The unicorn!
I did add in a second die set for this card, to make the flowers around the horn. And the horn ended up being hand drawn and cut out. The lines on the horn are from the die set though. However, you might have a triangle die set on hand that could be used to make the horn.
If you'd like to see this die set in action check out the video below.
After the video I wanted to create a bunch more of these critter cards, but only got one more done, a dog. I had to have a dog card.
If you have any questions about these cards or this die set, please just ask. I would be happy to help you figure out how to make a specific animal. If you are interested in the supplies I used scroll to the bottom of the post everything has been linked for you. Thank you so much for stopping by and for your support of my blog. I love sharing my creations with you.
Do you love surprises? I do! If you know something and are dying to tell me, I'd rather you didn't and wait to be surprised. I think it all stems back to the summer I was turning 12... I was getting a ten speed bike for my birthday. And if you are a child of the late 80's early 90's you totally understand how RAD that is. Well, my little sisters knew how out of this world this gift was too. They were too excited and just had to tell me. When my birthday came, any dreams of me being a famous actress were shattered. Because at the end of the elaborate scavenger hunt my parents planned for me, my poor acting gave away the fact that this totally awesome gift was not the big surprise it was suppose to be. My sisters got in trouble and sent to their room. But I got the worst punishment of all, I got to ride my new bike... all. by. my. self. So, the big life lesson 12 year old Carrie took away from the ten speed bike incident...I'd much rather be surprised and share in the fun with you than know in advance.
What does that story have to do with my post today??? Well, one of my stamping friends, Amanda, knows how much I love Gel Press print making and so she brought me a bag of things she had collected. She thought I would like to use them to make texture on my Gel Press to create unique prints. This was months ago by the way. But I never looked in the bag. I wanted the first time I saw the goodies to be on camera, when I was going to use them. It's a good surprise, right! Even the little surprises in life make me happy.
If you want to see what was in the bag, the prints I made and the making of the four cards, check out the video on my YouTube channel, linked HERE.
If you just want to see some cute cards made with Gel Press Prints keep reading.
This fist card uses a background with a plaid like feel to it.
Every card in todays collection was splattered with Silk. Silks are a die based product by Fun Stampers Journey with shimmer in them. They come in cute little bottles like fingernail polish. You pull the brush out and tap the handle to get a splatter of this shimmery liquid. You can also paint with them, mix them with things, watercolor with them, etc.
Another thing all of today's cards have in common is that they all feature the same stamp set, Color Pop by FSJ. This set has four sentiments, each using the word "color". I thought this worked perfect for my backgrounds. I used a different sentiment from this set for each card.
To dress this card up I tied on some Cool Pool Satin Ribbon, added some Journey Glaze to the sentiment and adhered some rainbow drops around my tag.
This next card has a background with subtle texture, that some how reminds me of concrete. But the colors are way brighter!
This background was the most fun, as I spread Modeling paste over it. Since I am not good a frosting cakes, this is the next best thing! And the Cement Tile stencil is just amazing!
Card 3 is black and white with a pop of color, one of my favorite kinds of cards to make.
And there's even a stamp for such a card!
The sun rays in the background of this card are embossed, and, surprise I did it with a die! Watch the video to see how I was able to do this, using a cool embossing mat by Spellbinders.
I think this last card is my favorite of the four.
Probably because I LOVE rainbows. And this subtle pastel rainbow background is dreamy. I added to this background with a piece of cardstock that was headed to the the recycle bin and repurposed as a stencil, another little surprise!
If you are starting to feel like, man, I just really need to check out this video, which is what my secret hope is, I posted to this blog post for you. Plus, I am wondering, is anyone going to comment on my excessive use of commas?
Another little surprise I have for you is an invite to join my facebook group, The Gel Press Journey. I do live videos and shares there of all things Gel Press. Find it HERE and request to join in the fun. Thanks for stopping by, hanging out with me, and letting me share my creations with you.
Below I have linked all the products I used to make the backgrounds and cards from today's post (except the surprise bag items). Affiliate links have been used at no cost you to, thank you for your support in letting me continue to share what I love as my job.
Introducing the Carrie Stamps February 2019 Stamp Set of the Month...... Sending My Love by FSJ!
This stamp set earned it's place as stamp set of the month of February because I love that typewriter!

Guess What! It's time for another Lip Balm card! How do you feel about Fruit Loops? I love the bright colors and found some amazing products to pull this card all together!
Who would think to bring cereal, tropical birds and lip balm together? But look how fun it is and it works!
I've been waiting to do this card for a long time! I've had the lip balm and stickers for months now. But it finally all came together when I was able to order all the MFT elements to put the lip balm on my card. I think this sweet card would really brighten anyones day. A card with a little gifty in it!!!
And with the help of the Sentiment Rip Strip Dienamics set, the recipient can easily remove the lip balm. GENIUS!
Putting a lip balm on the front of the card does make it heavy, so I wanted to put a layer on the inside of the card too, giving a bit more weight.
And here is where I used the sentiment from the MFT stamp set, Sending Smooches. A perfect finishing touch for this card.
If you'd like to see the making of this card I have attached the video for you below, but be sure to click over to my YouTube channel and subscribe if you have not already done so. I will be sharing new videos there every week.
Now for a little BONUS share! Check out the cute little gift tag I made to go on a little to go cup of Fruit Loops, the perfect little treat to give with this card.
I just tied some ribbon around the cup of Fruit Loops and added a fun and simple tag. The sentiment, Do more of what makes you happy, is from the Bowl Over stamp set, which is one of the Returning Favorites stamp sets at FSJ right now, and is on sale!
I needed the spoon to be smaller so it would fit in next to the word YOU on my tag, so I cut it shorter and hand drew in a line with a black marker.
The bird stickers, Toucan Friends, are really fun and were the perfect fit for my projects. I liked that I could use them since I did not have a tropical bird stamp set.
I love making lip balm projects and still have some other flavored lip balms on hand to bring you some other fun creations, so stay tuned! Scroll to the bottom to find links to all the products I used. Thank you for sharing a part of your day with me.
