Besides card making, I also love making cute things like this mini Easter basket. It's fun to give a little something sometimes. It's just a few pieces of candy but the little basket is what makes it special.
And this basket is so easy to make! And you can dress it up with any image or die cut on the front.
Here's how you can make this little basket.
Start with a piece of card stock that is 3-1/2" x 3".
Score this on all four sides at 1".
Cut four flaps buy cutting on the scored lines on the 3-1/2" sides.
Put adhesive on these tabs to put the box/basket together. I prefer liquid glue for this step, but a heavy duty double stick tape would work too.
Once you have adhered all four of the tabs your mini basket is complete.
Now you can adhere the handle. It measures 1/2" x 7". Of course the length and width of this handle can be adjusted to suit your personalized basket.
Then you dress up the front. For my baskets I used the Ears to You ATS stamp and die set by Fun Stampers Journey.
I wanted to make 10 baskets, to give to each of the kids in the science class I teach at our home school Co-Op. So, I made a bunny in each of the 10 Confectionery Days colors, it's a pastel line that Fun Stampers Journey carries in inks and card stock.
For each basket I stamped the bunny with clear pigment ink and embossed it with White Embossing powder. Then I stamped the middle of the ear with the same color of ink as the paper. I used my MISTI stamp positioning tool to do this so that I could stamp it repeatedly to intensify the color. Because sometimes when you stamp tone on tone the ink can dry back too light so that you are not able to see the stamped image. Another great reason to use a stamp positioning tool.
I made two bunnies for each basket, putting one the front and one on the back, so this basket is cute from either side.
And I added a die cut strip to each of the handles as well. This was to add another decorative element, but it also helped to make the handle more sturdy.
I wanted to included the sentiment, so for each basket I stamped the sentiment onto Whip Cream card stock with the coordinating ink on a 1/4" scrap. I flagged one end with my scissors and pierced a hole in the other end. I then tied the tag onto the handle with White Thread.
These boxes are pretty easy to make and would also be fun to make with kids. You can put anything you like on the front of this basket, even change it up for other occasions. In my basket I was able to fit a Reeces Egg and a smaller chocolate carrot as well as a pinch of Easter grass.
If you decide to make some of the sweet little baskets I hope that you would share them with me, I'd love to see what you create!
