Have you tired No Line Coloring yet? It is a technique where you stamp your image in a light color of ink or a disappearing ink. Then you use your markers or pencils to draw in the lines of the stamped image and color it in. This is usually done with tints and shades of the color being used to get depth and dimension in the image. I have been practicing this technique and decided to use it for my Easter Banner.
Each chick on this banner has been colored using this technique and Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. I wanted a different color chick for each egg. A matchy matchy look. So the chick matches the egg. Let's look at each banner piece and I will tell you which Zig markers I used on each.
The chick I used is from the Peep Peep stamp set by Fun Stampers Journey.
The first chick was stamped in Bubble Gum ink (by FSJ). Then outlined with #202 Peach Pink. Then I blended that out with #026 Light Pink and #999 Blender.
The mini eggs, also stamps from the Peep Peep stamp set were colored in this same way with the same markers.
The orange chick was stamped with Orange Creamcicle ink. I then traced with stamped image with Zig marker #070 - Orange. I blended that out with #052 - Bright Yellow and #999 - Blender. For this banner piece I put the two small eggs on one side and added the top of the larger cracked egg. The large egg is from the die set, Holiday Window Box Plates.
This yellow chick, the most realistic chick was stamped with Banana Cream ink. Then outlined with Zig marker #050 - Yellow and blended with #051- Lemon Yellow. I know I used another orangeish brown color to ownline with eye, but did not write that one down. Each of the eggs has a letter die cut from it. I then stamped the coordinating letter on a piece of light colored card stock, Banana Cream in this case, with Summer Days ink. I then glued this behind the egg, so the letter was lined up in the die cut opening. I finished off each letter with my Clear Wink of Stella pen.
A green chick! It's funny, but I do love the look of the entire banner. It has that fun, bright easter/spring feel to it. Like plastic eggs, and plastic grass and peeps and jelly beans. The green chick was stamped with Sweet Pear ink. I then outlined him with my Zig marker #041- Light Green and blended out with marker #045- Pale Green, also using a bit of #999 - Blender.
The blue chick was stamped with Pool Play ink, outlined with #031 - Cobalt Blue and blended with #302 - Haze Blue and #999 Blender. On each banner piece I also stamped the Peep sentiment from the Peep Peep stamp set in same dark ink color I used to stamp the letter for each banner. You can find all the ink pads I used at the bottom of this post where I linked all the supplies I used.
The purple chick was stamped with Pretty Amethyst ink, outlined with #081 - Light Violet, blended with #083 - Lilac and #999 - Blender. For the purple banner piece I wanted a plaid paper that had some purple in it but the paper pack I was using, Perfectly Plaid Spring by Lawn Fawn, did not have a purple pattern. So, I created some purple dashed lines on the blue print using a purple gel pen from the Just Write Gels (GREAT pens!) By the way, I am pretty sure this paper is retired.
I do love to make banners. This one I smaller so instead of hanging it on my mantel I have it hanging in my craft room, let's face it, that is where I am all the time so I will get a lot of enjoyment out of it.
