Hey there stamping friends. I am back with Episode 3 of my January Stamp Set of the month series. Featuring the Peek A Boo Balloon stamp and die set by Avery Elle.
Each week I will be bringing you new ideas with this set! Today's card is a slimline card, I know I did that last week. But it seems to be the perfect card size for this stamp set. This week I knew I wanted to include two balloons on one card, and slimline is the perfect fit for this.
This card was inspired by the night glow event that we have in Boise, Idaho. At this event hot air balloons fire up at night but are tethered to the ground. It is a sight to see with hundreds of balloons a glow.
To set the night time scene, I used Arteza watercolors. And made a gradient of blues down the watercolor paper panel that would become my card front. For a slimline card (a card that fits a business size envelope) I cut my card front down to 9-1/8" x 3-3/4" to fit my card that is 9-1/4" x 7-3/4" scored at 3-7/8".
To make the balloon look as if they are glowing I chose to color them with a single color scheme; one yellow and one orange. I chose two shades of yellow from my Arteza Real Brush pens and colored in a circular motion, so that the color was darker around the outer edge and light as you get to the center. The gave the look of the fire glowing on the inside of the balloon.
Since the Arteza Real Brush pens are a water based ink I was able to blend them out further with the use of a water brush pen. To finish off the look I added some highlights with a white gel pen.
