Now let's take a look at my card. 

It is a slimline shaker card with a Unicorn Picnic at the beach. 

One of my favorite things about Lawn Fawn is how you can mix and match all of their stamps and dies to create with. The style of their images is all the same. For the most part the scale is the same. And that makes me so happy. I have so much fun pulling out all my stamp sets and finding images that will work for an idea I have. And a lot of times doing that sparks new ideas. I have listed and linked all the stamps and dies I used to make this card for you below. 

One thing I really missed when making this card was to use my anti-static powder bag all over the window sheets I used. The sand is sticking to it and had I done that almost no sand would be stuck there. So, learn from my mistake, use your anti-static powder bag generously when it comes to sand. That being said, you can still see the images and it looks like you are looking inside a snow globe, or in this case, as sand globe. 

I am so happy with the addition of the Narwhal to the scene. He wants to hang out, he has finally found his tribe!!! 

I have been wanting to make a beach themed card with this unicorns for a while now. I hoped to fit it in to my stamp set of the month series, but since I did not I wanted to make it for this summer hop.  The unicorn on the surf board was an idea I saw on another creators card, her name is Leontine. If you are reading this, thank you for the fun idea with the snowboard from the Yeti or Not stamp set! 

I did not forget about the inside of the card, I am doing so good at it now actually! 

With slimline cards you have plenty of space to continue the scene to the inside of the card and still have room for a personalize message.

Unicorn Picnic Episode Four

I am kinda sad that this is the last episode in my July Stamp Set of the month series!  Playing with the Unicorn Picnic stamp set has been so much fun and I still have ideas!  Just be for-warned that you may see this stamp set again, and again! 

But Episode 4 is SO MUCH FUN! 

In this episode I will be making shaker cards, you don't have to see many of my creations before you realize that I LOVE SHAKER CARDS!  So I knew I needed to make one, or some,  with this beloved Unicorn Picnic stamp set. 

And my imagination was off.... I thought, what if I used the reveal wheel to make a rotating shaker!  And that is how card 1 was born.

In the first shaker there are raindrops. 

The second window has clouds. 

And what do clouds and raindrops make??? Rainbows.

Now let's check out the slimline shaker, made using left over pieces from Episode 3. 

This magical card features mystical and magical creatures. Each section of this card is a shaker  with it's own color of sequins. 

I colored each of the images to coordinate with the section of the card they would be on, for a hint of rainbow. 

Having these two cards with the sentiment, "you're magical" means that I can personalize this card for anything by stamping a second sentiment on the inside of the card.

Crafty Christmas Club July Hop!

It's July 25th and the countdown to Christmas has begun. Just kidding, I hate being reminded how many days until Christmas!  Christmas should not be stressful. And that is why I love making a Christmas card on the 25th of each month, it is fun and not stressful.

Welcome to the July 2020 Crafty Christmas Club Hop! 

If you are hopping along then you may have arrived from the fabulous Justin Averill's blog.

I'm going to let a little secret out of the bag, I am shooting to make all slimline cards to send out this Christmas. If you have seen any of the Christmas cards I have mad this far, then you may have already caught on to that. This card, as with most of my slimline cards are 9" x 8" scored at 4", unless I need to change them for a slimline die set or an envelope. 

For todays card I pulled out some cute things from Dare 2B Artzy. I am in love with their bear stamp sets, they have one that is honey themed and this one that is skiing/winter/christmas themed. I just think they are so cute. 

This is the Skisons Greetings set that I am using today. And now let's take a look at the card I made with this set. 

I had a little fun with stamp resist for the background using Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink and heat embossed snowflakes from this stamp set. After applying ink over my embossed images I spritzed the panel with water for that oxidized splatter look. And to further the splatter I used Turbo Teal Silk over the background as well. And I LOVE how the background turned out. Add the water and silk for splatter really gives it some depth. 

I decided to make the bears polar bears, but you could do black or brown bears as well. I colored my images in with Copic Markers using the Totally Black stamp pad from Dare 2B Artzy for the first time. And I have to say it works great for Copic coloring! Very black, fast drying and no bleeding. 

The puffy vest makes me so happy! You can see how I colored it in the video below. 

And how about that plaid background paper!  It's the third thing from Dare 2B Artzy that I used. I can not get enough of this pattern. It is what inspired my card. This paper pack (Snow Much Fun) coordinates with this stamp set and the Christmoose stamp set, so of course I had to have it.

Spellbinders July Club Kit Hop

I am back for another blog hop with Spellbinders, showing off the Club Kits for the month of July. 
I am sharing a project featuring the Large Die of the month kit, just one of the many kits that they have to offer.  You can subscribe and get the Large Die of the month kit delivered to you door every month. It is quite fun. And there are so many other kits you can choose from, and you'll see those in today's hop. You can also check them out at the Spellbinders site right here. 

Let's take a quick look at the Large Die of the Month kit, Does Your Garden Grow Alphabet Die set. 

Isn't it a fabulous die set, with the floral pieces that are designed to adhere to the letters!!! Now lets take a look at the card I made for this hop. 

I challenged myself to create a Christmas card with this set, after all it is July and doing Christmas in July is one of my favorite things! 

Technically there should be one more LA. Do you think it matters, I'd love your thoughts. Or is 3 enough to evoke singing in your head??? 

For my additional sentiment I hot foiled Merry Christmas in gold foil on red paper. 

I love the elegant feel this hot foiled sentiment adds to my card!

For my background I used my favorite ink color by FSJ, Cool Pool. 

First I applied the ink around my 8-1/2" x 3-1/2" panel. Then I used the Winter Wonderland Stencil over the top with the same ink color.  Then I splattered on a bit of Gold Silk in the upper and lower corners to complete the background. 

From there is was easy to die cut and add the letters using Does Your Garden Grow die set and Gold paper. The floral die cuts are also from this same die set and added to the holiday feel with the red and green paper. Over all a pretty quick card to make.

Unicorn Picnic Episode 3

Hello stamping friends. I am back with Episode 3 of my Unicorn Picnic series. This weeks cards are inspired by My Little Pony. 

I was a big My Little Pony fan as a girl and so were my girls when they were younger. So, I knew right away that I wanted to make cards with this set that were inspired by MLP.  I know not all the ponies are unicorns and some have wings, so that is why my unicorns are inspired by MLP>

Now let's take a closer look at these cards. 

In this card we have Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle. You can see how I colored each of the unicorns in the video above. 

For this Reveal Wheel I used the Unicorn Picnic add on die set and stencil set to add revolving sentiments in the cloud!  I love it. The sentiments are from the Reveal Wheel Sentiment stamp set and say, Extra Cool, Really Happy and Fun-Filled. Perfect for this picnic. 

For my second My Little Pony inspired card I had to make a slimline!  The finished size of this card is 8-3/4" x 3-3/4". I used the Slimline Waves Die from Whimsy Stamps for the frame. Each of the windows hold a different MLP character.  Starting at the top we have Pinkie Pie, Apple Jack, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Rarity and then Spike.  Spike is dragon in the series that is the Pet of Twilight Sparkle, who is on the inside of this card. I love the addition of the Little Dragon to this card, what a fun little stamp set by Lawn Fawn!  He might make an appearance in Episode 3 as well.

Not 2 Shabby Digi Challenge 1

Welcome to the first ever Not 2 Shabby Digital Challenge. You are invited to play along with us!

Here's the challenge..... Design a project using 3 digital images from the Not 2 Shabby Shop and include embossing on your card (dry or wet embossing). Post your creation on Instagram and anywhere else you like using the hashtag #not2shabbydigichallenge.  Then we can all find each other and see each others creations!

The images I chose to use are the Coffee Cart and Pumpkin Spice Everything. 

When I saw the Coffee Cart set I thought of how many fun holiday scenes I could create with it. 

What is special about this digital set is that you have so many options. You get 4 printable, a sheet with all the images separate that is set to a size perfect for cards. With this you can build your own coffee cart, as I did in this video. AND, you get three images with carts already designed for you with all the little images. These images you can make anywise you like. So many possibilities.  So, for this card I wanted to make a fall scene and the Pumpkin Spice Everything image was the perfect match for my second image. My third image is one of the sentiments that come in the Coffee Cart set. 

For the background I used the Hero Arts Ombre pad in Autumn.  And it turned out great. I was not sure when I first started with the background, but once it absorbed into the paper is was stunning! Then I added a bit of gold splatter with Gold Silk from FSJ. 

Now let's talk about all the important details of Digital Stamping. 

1. Printer - I get a lot of questions about what printer I use so I thought I would share that with you today. I use the HP Envy 7645. It has Thermal Inkjet ink, which is die based. I get little to no smearing when I used this printer and do Copic Coloring.  I do try not to color over the lines, however. 
2. Paper - To print my images off I use a "cheap" card stock that I purchased at Walmart, Georgia-Pacific 110lb. It is light weight and easily goes through my printer. It also is excellent with buy Copic Markers!  I have also used Neenah 80lb card stock for digital stamps as well with the same great results. 
3. Cutting digital images out - Fussing cutting is always an option but once we all started die cutting out we all of a sudden couldn't bear the thought of putting ourselves through that kind of tourture again. So, besides the gruesome scissors, there are electronic cutting machines. I use a Silhouette Cameo with the PixScan mat. All I have to do is take a picture of my images on the PixScan mat, open that picture in the Silhouette Design Studio. Then I am able to trace the images and then I do an offset line around the trace. I can adjust that line to be as close or as far away from my image as I like. Then I run the PixScan mat through my Silhouette and it cuts the images out for me.  There are several other applications you can use this mat for, so it is a great addition to the Silhouette. 
4. Coloring - I love Copic Markers, so that is what I use most of the time to color in my digital stamps. My printer and the card stock I have chosen work great for this. But, if you have issues with your printer here are my other suggestions. First, try heat setting your printed images. Second, try different card stocks, a more porous card stock vs. a smooth one seems to work best for me. Third, play around with other mediums Like colored pencils. I made a gorgeous watermelon card, coloring my digital image in with colored pencils, you can see the video of that card right here.

Unicorn Picnic Episode 2

Hey there, it's time for Episode 2 of my Unicorn Picnic stamp set of the month series. Today is all about glitter! 

They say.... "You can never have too much glitter". I am sure I have said that, and I believe that, whole heartedly!  But is it true? Can I reach my glitter max. How much glitter can I put on a card before I tap out? In this episode and the making of these cards I set out to find out. 

First we start out with a little bit of glitter, shine and shimmer. 

For all of the card and all of the backgrounds I used the Starry Sky Stencil over an ink blended background.

For this background I used Spun Sugar Distress Oxide ink and the Cloudy Stencil.  Over that I used the Starry Sky Stencils and Deco Foil Metallix Gel in White Pearl.  It has a very nice iridescent shine to it. I added some die cut glitter paper cloud for some more glitter. The stamped images are from the Unicorn Picnic set and the Winter Unicorn set. All the stamped image have clear Wink of Stella on them for shimmer.

Below you can see the inside of this card. With another cute unicorn. 

For the second card I took things up a notch, adding more glitter. 

The background on this card starts with the Cloudy stencil and Salty Ocean ink.  The Starry Sky stencil was used again, with Glitz Glitter gel in Iridescent by Gina K.  

I used a two way glue pen and Sparkle Dust glitter around all of the stamped images. 

For the sparkle, or fairy dust around the unicorn I used the Lawn Fawn Glitter Pen to add to glimmer to them. 

This is also a pull tab card. Because the pixie dust is causing the unicorn to fly.  This card I idea was born when my daughter informed me that unicorns do not fly. Only pegasus do.  Hmmm. I said my card has it's own story and so they do fly on my card.  It all comes down to pixie dust!!! And when you pull the tab, up flies the unicorn!

See the inside of this card... I love using all different colors for my unicorns. 

For the third card, I might have found my limit with glitter. 

This background is Spun Sugar and Salty Ocean blended together on the card front, meeting in the middle for a blend, resulting in light purple. 

I stenciled the Starry Sky stencil with Stickles Glitter Gel in Moon Dust. 

I used the new Stitched Rainbow die set to make the rainbow for the front of this card. And to glitter it up, I used Lawn Fawn's chunky glitter. I ti show shiny and catches the light so well. 

But is it too much???? 

I used the Reveal Wheel on this card so that this unicorn could fly over the rainbow. Moving the wheel caused the unicorn, who's attached to the wheel with a foam square, to move back and forth. 

I left all the insides of these cards blank, so that at the appropriate time I could then add an additional sentiment.

YouTube Mystery Swap 3

Hey there!  I am so excited to back with another YouTube Mystery Swap, a collaboration that I do with my friend Jen Hartsgrove of Katahdin Krafts 

For our Mystery Swaps we decide on a theme, this month it's Black and White with a Pop of Color. 

Then we each send each other mystery items that we have to use in our project. 

We will each create with the same items and the same theme.  You will see me make a project using the things that Jen sent me and I will then make a card using the things that I sent to Jen. It's so much fun. Then, you can watch and see Jen do the same thing. It is so much fun to see what each of us will make with the same things!  

For both of my projects I am using the Pup in A Cup stamp set from the Not 2 Shabby shop.  I have been dying to play with this stamp set and decided to included that as part of my challenge for this Mystery Swap. 

Here is the card/project I made using the papers, accordion tag card and embellishments that Jen sent to me. 

I know that this card is more of color with a touch of black. But I had so much fun playing with all the papers that Jen sent to me. And this accordion tag is so cool. I loved decorating each of the panels a little differently. 

Let's take a closer look at each of the tags that make up this card. 

Tag one. 

I created the background for this tag using Distress Oxide ink and the Slimline Lots of Dots Stencil set by Trinity Stamps. It has four stencils in the set that make different polka dot patterns and these stencils are sized to fit on a slimline card! 

Let's talk about Pup in a Cup, a cute stamp set designed by Jamie of Not 2 Shabby. It's adorable!  This stamp set does not have a coordinating die. So I used my PixScan mat and my Cameo Silhouette to cut this cutie out. And while I was at it I cut out several. You can watch my video to see how exactly I did that. For the cup I used some of the cool papers that Jen sent me in my Mystery Box to paper piece it together. The gems and ribbon were also in that mystery box! 

Tag Two. 

For this background I used the darling printed paper from the mystery box from Jen, same with the papers on the cup. 
Actually all the cups on this accordion card are paper pieced with printed paper from the mystery box. 

As far as coloring in my pups, I found inspiration on the Not 2 Shabby Shop and Not 2 Shabby YouTube videos.  I used Copic Markers to color in all of the pups. 

Tag Three.

Another background with the Slimline Lots of Dots Stencils. 

Each of the tags has a sentiment stamped under the cup that is from the Pup in a Cup stamp set, the saying builds on each tag to say... "it's a pup in a cup sending you pugs and kisses".  I love it!  All of the sentiments are embossed so they stand out on their tag. 

Tag Four. 

And here is the pug!  You can see this one holds a gift card behind the cup. It's just strategic placement of foam squares. The accordion tag card folds up and fits into and A2 sized envelope. 

I had so much fun playing with all the pretty things that Jen sent me, it's always fun to open up the mystery package and see what she sent me to play with. 

Now let's take a look at the card I made with the things that I sent to Jen. 

As you can see the pop of color I chose is Electic Lime. I LOVE this color combo! Electric Lime is such a fun color!  I colored this cup and only paper pieced the wrap around the cup and added in a straw!  I thought it was fun that Jen and I both sent each other pattered paper and black glitter paper!  

 

The background of this card is paper that I sent to Jen and the wrap and straw are made with paper that Jen sent to me. 

I wanted to continue the theme of having a gift card holder, so I added one to the inside of this card. 

The die that makes this gift card holder is the Gift Slider die set by FSJ. I love that the gift card slides under the bow and has the look of a present!

The sentiment carries over to the inside as well, saying "A puppy latte a day keeps the grumpy away".  So sweet, right? And then you have a Starbucks give card to ensure some happiness!

Hey there my stamping friends. I am back with another Christmas/Winter card. It is July and so I want to throw in a few more Christmas cards, I love the Christmas in July idea! Getting me ahead in the game before the big day sneaks up on me!  

Today I am playing with a digital stamp set (which I love to call digi) from the Not 2 Shabby Shop.  It is the Coffee Cart set. I adore this set because it is so darn cute. Also, Jamie, who designed the set gave us options with the purchase of this set. You get a ready to print sheet of images and sentiments. And you have some premade coffee cart scenes that you can play with the size. For today's card I am using the ready to print images. 

I used my Copic Markers to color in all the images used to make this cute winter Coffee Cart. All the images, including the sentiment are from the Coffee Cart set. I love that it has so many images in it. I wanted to use them all! 

To cut out my images I used my PixScan mat and my Cameo Silhouette machine. Having a digital cutting machine makes easy work of digital stamp sets. But fussy cutting them out is always and option. 

My favorite thing about this card is the Candy Cane smoothie!  I'm not sure why, but food related images are just so darling to me!

I did not forget about the inside of the card, I am actually enjoying challenging myself to something on the inside of all my cards. 

 

I use the left over images ad the other half of the snow bank I used for the front of the card. And still plenty of room for a personalized note.

The Happy Place Project Kit Inspiration

Welcome back my stamping friends. Today I am over on the Spellbinders Blog and YouTube channel sharing projects I made with the newest release from FSJ, the Happy Place Collection. They have new summer themed stamp sets, die sets and stencils. You can also get a Happy Place project kit that comes with stamps, dies and card kits for a great price. 

I made 4 projects with these products to help inspire you. So when you've completed your kit projects you have more ideas with your stamps and dies. 

Here's a look at the 3 cards I made. I had so much fun with the background for these cards with Liquid Colors. And just look at these fun images. All the things we love to do in the summer; swim, camp and go to the fair! 

This card features the stamp set, Enjoy the Ride. I was going for a night time scene at the fair with a fireworks shaker in the background. 

Next up is the Summer Build-a-Scene stamp set. This is a great stamp set full of fun images for a camping scene, but this stamp set is only $8.95!  I made another night time scene with a fun galaxy background. And I just love the ant image for added detail!  You seriously will not believe all the images that you get in this set for such a great price, I am impressed!  

The sentiment for this card is another small or ATS size stamp set, any yet it has so many images in it!  It is the Share Your Smile stamp set, 10 images in the set for just $8.95!  I love that FSJ makes these ATS (Artist Trading Stamp) size sets and packs so many images into them for such a great value. 

This card was so much fun to make!!! It is a gel card, there is a pouch of gel behind the swimmers giving it the look of real water. You'll have to watch the video to see it!  I use the Make A Splash stamp set and Kaleidoscope background stamp for this card. 

I had so much fun with the gel in this card I made a gift bag with a gel insert too, but with a little twist on it! 

This gift bag has a gel insert and in that gel a put a few drops of Liquid Color, so the recipient can move the color around in the gel as they press on the gel. It a kind of interactive element. 

For the background on this card I use the new Sunny Day Stencil on the front of this Card Carrier die cut bag. The pool die cut, umbrella, and the foliage I used on these two projects is a new die set, Pool with a View. I am in love with it. The edge of the pool die also embossing lines into, making it have the look of tiles. 

This is such a fun new collection of products. There is one more die set to this collection that I did not share with you here today that you can use to make a sand castle, a castle. You die cut shapes and build what you want with it, so cool.  You can see the Happy Place die set right here.

Spellbinders Stylish Script Collection

Hey there my crafty friends. Today I am sharing some cool new Glimmer Hot Foil plates by Spellbinders, the Stylish Script Collection. I love the Glimmer Hot Foil system and was excited about these large sentiment plates. There are 4 sets in this new collection. Two of the set are just one sentiment and come with a very reasonable price point. The other two sets are sets of two sentiments and again, very reasonably priced. Which I love, because then I have funds to purchase other fun things, right!  

I am sharing the Beautiful Ride, More Than Chocolate and the Thank you and Happy Birthday plate sets. 

For these cards I tried Hot Foiling onto specialty papers, like Silver card stock and Printed paper. And it worked great on both. 

For the More Than Chocolate plate I immediately envisioned this slimline card!  It was a lot of fun to make and the slimline size was just perfect for a large chocolate bar! The finished card size is 9" x 8" scored at 4".  The rectangles of chocolate are 1-3/4" x 1-1/4".  The sentiment is hot foiled onto silver paper to make it look like the wrapper. I used Copper Foil to hot foil the sentiment onto the silver paper. I was not sure how hot foiling would take to this slick paper, but it turned out amazing. 

I really wanted to use the Espresso Bean hot foil, but realized I did not have it when I thought I did, but this Copper Foil did the trick!  

I also used the Thank you and Happy Birthday Stylish Script plates for the inside of my cards. Since this slimline card was on Cocoa Powder paper I felt it needed a liner on the inside and that is where I Hot Foiled  Happy Birthday in silver foil. 

Up next is the card I created with the Beautiful Ride plate. 

I decided to make another yummy card with some Frappuccinos!  I used the shaving cream technique to create these yummy cool beverages. Which I show you how to do in the video below. 

The sentiment was hot foiled on to printed paper, which I thought could be too thin to foil on, but it did great!  Again, I used the Copper foil and I just love the color of this foil!  

For the inside of this card I used Skybright foil to add Thank you to the inside panel.  

I know I will be using the Thank You and Happy Birthday Plates a lot. The script of these new plates is so versatile. It can be used on an elegant card or creations that are more simple. And watch for some holiday plates to join this collection very soon!

Unicorn Picnic Episode 1

Hello there my stamping friends!  It is the first Tuesday of the month of July! That means it is time for a new stamp set of the month!  My YouTube viewers voted and the stamp set they picked for me to use this month is the Unicorn Picnic stamp set, newly released from Lawn Fawn. 

The majority has spoked, but if you voted for the other stamp sets, not to worry, I will be making some projects with them soon! 

So let's take a look at the creations for Episode One. 

I added in the new Puffy Cloud Backdrop die plate for these cards, in the video I show you how to use it on a slimline card, like the on the left. 

 

This card is a look at the Unicorn village. It's in a magical place with fairies, pixie dust, sweets and bright colors. 

I used several of the Village sets by Lawn Fawn for this scene; Happy Village, Village Shops and Village Heros. I also use the A Little Sparkle stamps set for an additional unicorn, the one in pink is from that set. Which also has two fairies that are mirror images of the fairies in the Unicorn Picnic stamp set.

On the inside of this card, we have a little one who thinks she can find the land of unicorns, so she dresses up as a unicorn determined to find it and prove to the world they do exist. 

My second card is a closer look at just a part of Unicorn Village. 

This is where this unicorn family lives. 

One sweet unicorn has arrived home with ice cream. 

And I know if I lived in a land with fairies, I would definitely have a cleaning fairy! 

And a little something cute for the inside of the card too.

July 2020 Large Die of the month from Spellbinders

Hello there my crafty friends!  Today I am sharing the Large Die set of the month from Spellbinders, it is called How Does Your Garden Grow Alphabet. 

This is a complete alphabet die set with some foliage dies to accent the letters. 

The letters are tall and thin, but not too thin. The foliage pieces are designed to be added to the top of the letters. Let's take a look at my cards so you can see what I mean. 

For my first card I created a slimline card that says "Congratulations". This is a long word, but arranging the letters in rows of three letters each makes for a fun modern look. 

I die cut these letters from some Brushed Silver card stock. The stems might appear white in the photos but is actually Tin Pail card stock, a very light gray.  The  buds on each flower are die cut from Peaches and Cream card stock. Which is the same color I used to do ink blending on the background of this card. 

On each petal I painted some Sparkle Silk for shimmer and then added some glaze over the top so they would pop and have some shine. 

Since I made a long word on the first card I wanted to make a shorter word on the next card. 

This is an A2 sized card, 5-1/2" x 4-1/4". This may give you a better ideas of the scale of these letter dies. The approximate size of the letter dies are 3/4" x 1-3/4".  This makes them great for card making, perfect for scrapbooking and even fun to use in your planner projects. 

I used all of the same products I used on the first card to make this one. I love trying to make something different with all the same supplies still out. The hearts on both of the card were made using an 8-1/2" x 11" stencil called Heart Wall. I love that I can use it on my new favorite card, Slimlines!  

On this card I did set the flowers slightly to the side of the letters for a little different look.
