I can't put it down! I am in love with the Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the month for August! It's such a fun crafty themed plate set, and is named Have a Crafty Day! This month's kit comes with my favorite foil color, Aura!
With this month's kit you can make the cutest cards for all your crafty friends. It included a background plate and 3 sentiments too! There are also add ons that coordinate with this plate set; an additional Hot Foil plate set called Crafty Sentiments and a Stamp and Die set called Craft Happy.
Let's take a look at the six cards.
For all of the cards I used Gel Press prints that I had on hand, I have SO many that is feels so productive to use them up. Do you have a stash of background that you've made, waiting to be used?
Card One
It's a shaker card, you know they are my favorite! I use the background plate to foil over a gel press print in Aura Foil creating a stunning background for my sequins and shrinky dinks to glide across.
I did say shrinky dinks! I used the Craft Happy stamp and die set to create a paint brush, scissors and tube of pain to add a surprise to my shaker card. My friend Steph Williams has a few shaker cards that she made with shrink images and I have been dying to give it a go for so long now. I have made tons of shrink images but not for a shaker card and I am IN LOVE with it!
The Have a Crafty Birthday sentiment is from the GOM Kit.
Card Two
Look at this background, made using a print that my friend Cassie Trask sent me in a background swap we did. It's pretty yummy, thanks Cassie! So, I thought it fitting that this card would have the "Crafty Friend" sentiment on it! "Crafty Friend" is from the Crafty Sentiment plate set.
I used image from the Craft Happy stamp set to embellish this card, I LOVE that ruler image. I colored all my images, including the shrink plastic with Copic Markers.
The foil I used on this card is called Prism. The Aura and Prism foil are very much a like, they are both iridescent, the difference is that Aura has a gold tone and Prism has a silver tone.
Card Three
For this background strip on this card I used Opal foil. This foil is unlike any of the others. It is clear with an iridescent pearl finish! So, what ever color of card stock you foil it on the color of the card stock will show through and the images will be pearlized! It's magical, trust me!
The sentiment is another from the GOM kit, I foiled it using Magenta foil. This handmade for you sentiment would be great foiled on the back of every card I make, right?!
And I have to say the dauber image, perfect! I just think it is so cute.
Card Four
Again, I used Prism foil on this card, for the background and for the sentiment. I think this is my favorite of the sentiments from the GOM Kit! I die cut the sentiment using the Essentials Circle die set. It die cuts circles as well as the intricate dotted circle. It is the only circle die set I used to make these cards. I also used it to make the frame around the sentiment on card five, below.
Card Five
For this card I hot foiled the sentiment in two colors of foil because in the plate sets the script sentiment and the typed sentiment are separate plates, so you can have fun with it! I used Aura and Magenta foils on this light orange card stock. Let's Get Crafty is from the Crafty Sentiments Plate Set.
Card Six
Another shaker card with shrinky dinks! I was not sure the roll of twine would be easily recognizable in the shrunk down form. So the idea came to me to repeat the shrink images on the front of the card.
For my main shaker element I used Spakle Cuts, because a crafter who gets this card is going to appreciate the shrink image, glitter, foiling, a gel press background, a shaker, Copic colored images and all the love that went into this card.
Take a close look at the sentiment on this card, from the Crafty Sentiments plate set, I used Rainbow Foil!!! Another fave of mine.
