Hello there, crafty friends! I am guest designing for iCrafter. I just had to try out their new Slimline Knit, Knots and Stitches die set! I am newbie crocheter and the look of the knit die is so super cool to me. And I am a big time slimline card fanatic too, as you probably already know, so this die set had my name all over it.
I challenged my self to use all three of the dies in this set on ONE slimline card. I knew I wanted to have the knitting die cuts be the focus of this card as they are are show stopper! I also had to trying out the stitching die as I have done stitching on cards several times and a die that let's you stitch whatever you want seemed very exciting. I was not sure how I was going to incorporate the knots die, but it ended up being the perfect accent for the inside of my card. I am working on a goal to always add a little something cute to the inside of my cards, the fun should not end when you open the card!!!
So, let's take a look at what I came up with in this video.
If you can not see the video up on this screen, you can also view it on my YouTube channel.
I decided to go with purple for this card because I wanted to do an ombre pattern with my knit die and I had the most card stock in purple to do this with. It took me a minute to figure out and get the hang of knitting these die cuts together, but by row two I had it down. You have to bend a loop to insert it into the other row of loops and then pull it through. Once I had the feel of it I busted out my knit background pretty quick.
Gluing this knit piece down to my card front might take a bit more practice. You need to pull the knit piece out, or taught and then adhere it. In trying to do so with liquid glue on the back some of my pieces are a little wonky. BUT, it kinda gives it more of a hand made knit look that why. At least that's what comforts me!
All in all I love the look of this piece and am looking forward to giving it another go.
Next, I added a hand stitched sentiment using the Stitches die from this set.
I die cut a 4" strip of white card stock and used a fine liner pen to write out the word smile in cursive. I used that as my guide to stitch the word on to the card stock. I use black embroidery thread, pulling a strand apart to be only 2 threads thick. I love how this element turned out. How cool is this die that you can custom stitch an element to coordinate with your card.
My second sentiment is Hot Foiled. I like a lot of textures on one card and adding a bit of shine seemed like the perfect addition to this card. I used Black foil on purple card stock to bring out more of the purple and black color scheme of this card.
And let's not forget about the knot die...
It was the perfect touch for the inside of the card. But does this also look like a row of donuts to anyone else, or is it just my sweet tooth talking???
I had so much fun making this card and am so happy to be sharing it with you.
