Today I am sharing 3 ways to use the Glimmer Hot Foil kit of the month for May from Spellbinders. If you are not familiar with the Kit of the Month program from Spellbinders you can get all the details on all the kits right here. I love getting the Glimmer Kit of the Month, as I get a surprise Hot Foiling plate set and a roll of foil each month!!! This month there is a plate that hot foils a background of circles. And there is a die that cuts out circles to fit inside the hot foiling. That alone is so much fun , but there are also sentiments in this set and banner dies to cut them out as well. That is why this set is call the Spot On Background and Sentiments kit. The foil this month is Polished Brass and it is FABULOUS! I will be using it on all three of my cards today. You can also see these cards come together in this video.
The first card I am sharing is a Mini Slimline Card (6" x 6", scored at 3"). I am using the background plate to hot foil the circles diagonally across the card front panel.
This plate set comes with a die that cuts out circles that fit inside these hot foiled circles. I chose to use pink card stock and gold glitter paper for my circles and place them randomly on this card. It creates a fun whimsical look.
The stamp sentiment is from the Clear Stamp of the Month set and says Hello Sweet Friend. I hot foiled an additional sentiment from the Glimmer Kit.
It says, You Are One In A Million.
Here you can see all the plates and dies that come in this set.
The two rows on the left are Hot Foil Plates, the Large background plate of circles and the 9 sentiment plates. On the right we have dies; on that cuts out 6 circles and two that cut sentiment banners that fit the sentiments in this set. And here you can also see the Polished Brass foil that comes with this kit.
Now let's take a look at the second way I used this set on a Slimline card (8-1/2" x 7", scored at 3-1/2").
For this card I hot foiled the circles twice on this 8-1/4" x 3-1/4" navy card stock panel. Then I die cut some circles from the same navy card stock and adhered them down for a tone on tone look. I placed the circles in a linear pattern this time for a more elegant look.
The Happy Birthday sentiment is from the Clear Stamp of the Month. I added to that, This Card is Full of Paper Hugs, hot foiled for an added touch of elegance.
For my final card I did not use the die cut circles at all, but decided to add some doodling, since I enjoyed it so much when making these cards.
After hot foiling the circles in the Polished Brass Foil, I used a metallic gel pen to add a cross hatch pattern to each circle.
For the glimmer hot foiled sentiment I lined up the three plates to make a long sentiment that says, Hope This Card Finds You Well. I love all the hot foil sentiments in this set! And they do pair really well with the sentiments in the Clear Set of the Month. I Hug You with my Heart Everyday, what a perfect sentiment to send to someone who you can not see in person very often! With that sentiment I had to embellish this card with some hearts.
Those are the three cards I made with this set, if you want a couple BONUS ideas with this set be sure to check out this video where I make these three cards. You can see Glimmer Hot Foiling in action and get my tips and tricks too.
