Today I am sharing a fun new slimline die set by Spellbinders! It's the Slimline Hemstitch die set. It has 6 dies in it. Three of these dies cut rectangles that nest with each other. The other three cut a hemstitch into each of the three rectangles.
I love to have fun details on my slimline dies and the hemstitch is very unique, I love that you can put colored card stock behind it and it will show through the hem stitch. In my video I give you a close up look at this die set and make 2 cards using the set.
If you can not see the video up on this screen, you can also view it on my YouTube channel.
Here are the sizes of each of the dies in the Slimline Hemstitch die set:
Large Rectangle Rim: 8.50 x 3.50 in./21.60 x 8.90 cm
Large Hemstitch Insert: 8.10 x 3.05 in./20.60 x 7.80 cm
Medium Rectangle Rim: 7.50 x 2.50 in./19.10 x 6.40 cm
Medium Hemstitch Insert: 7.10 x 2.05 in./18.00 x 5.20 cm
Small Rectangle Rim: 6.50 x 1.50 in./16.50 x 3.80 cm
Small Hemstitch Insert: 6.10 x 1.05 in./15.50 x 2.70 cm
Now let's look at the two cards I made with these cool dies.
Here you can see the hemstitch showing through the die cuts and how cool it looks, I love that detail.
Here is a close up look at the first card I made, which uses the largest and the smallest rectangles from this die set. The stamp set I used it Hello Sunflower, a new clear stamp set by Spellbinders.
The second card is a shaker card, I had to make one, because these dies are so great for making frames.
To make the frame for the shaker I used the medium die and medium hemstitch die. Then I die cut the center of this die with the small rectangle die. Resulting in a perfect shaker frame! The window sheet behind the frame covers up the the hemstitch detail, so when I add the foam tape to the back the holes are not sticky. Then I added my shaker elements a mix of sequins from Hero Arts and some gold seed beads from Craft Supplies by CC. To finish off the shaker I added a second window sheet to seal up my shaker and then was able to easily add that to my card. My card base is the large hemstitch rectangle stamped the the largest sunflower. I am LOVING this background. I adhered this background to a dark brown slimline card base (8-1/2" x 7", scored at 3-1/2"). I love how the dark brown card stock look showing throw the stitch for this panel!
I think it would also look really cool to stitch on these panels. I have yet to try it, but I hope to do that soon.
Thank you for stopping by and spending a bit of your day with me!
