Today I was on the Trinity Stamps Instagram doing a live video where I shared the Summer Blooms Kit and how to do loose watercoloring.
I stamped all of the line images from the Summer Blooms stamp set as well as the First Blooms stamp set (both of these sets were designed by Melanie of Paper Starr) on to watercolor card stock with clear ink and embossed them with clear embossing powder.
Then I was able to watercolor these flowers, but before I explain the technique I used take a look at the finished card.
For this loose watercolor look I started by spraying the paper with water. I used the Atelier inks show in the photo, Petunia Pink, Goddess Green and Marigold Orange. I pressed them down onto my glass mat and watered them down a bit with my water brush. I added the ink to my wet and embossed panel. I let the ink flow outside the lines of the images. One that was done I dried the piece a bit with a heat tool. Then I went back in with more ink, less watered down to give the images more depth and dimension. The last step was to splatter on some of the ink to finish off the look.
You can watch it come together in the Instagram video right here:
