EASY Gift Card Holders with out DIES!

Hello there my stamping friends. Today I am going to share with you 5 Quick and Easy gift card holders that you can whip up that do not require a die! 

Each gift card holder is a little different and can be dressed up as much as you like with stamped images and embellishments. And you can make these gift card holders for any occasion, not just Christmas. 

Watch the video below to see how they are made and then below I have two pictures of each of the gift card holders with all of the measurements for you to refer back to when you are ready to make them.

Now let's take a look at each of the gift card holders up close, and I'll share all the measurements you need to recreate these. Make sure to watch the video on how to assemble each of the gift card holders. 

First up is the Tri-Fold Gift Card Holder with Belly Band.

Woven Snowflake Banner

Hello my crafty friends. I hope you are enjoying your holiday season. I have been decorating, shopping, wrapping. AND of course Making!  I just finished a project that I have been wanting to do for a while. A banner for my fireplace. One of my favorite things to make each year is a Woven Star ornament, which I have now started calling a Woven Snowflake. I make a version of it each year and this year I decided to take my love of this ornament and pair it with another love, banners. I made eight woven snowflakes, strung them together and created a banner. I am quite in love with it too!

In today's video I will also show you how to make the Woven Snowflake (formerly known as Star) and also how to make this banner.

Let's take a closer look at this banner. 

I use the Jingle All the Way paper pack by Echo Park for this banner. I chose 4 patterns of paper and made two of each Snowflake out of the four designs.

It only takes 1 piece of 6x6 paper to make one of these snowflakes.

They are not that hard to make. But they are so beautiful. These snowflakes make a great ornament and topper for a gift or gift bag. Making one and adding something special to the center is a stunning ornament. You can see the ornaments I made last year in THIS VIDEO.

I have even used one of these snowflakes on a wreath I made as a gift one year. 

I have added a hanger to the top of these snowflakes making them easier to string on the twine and create this banner. 

You can see how you can easily customize these snowflakes to fit any decor by the paper you use and what you decide to add to the center of the snowflake. 

The doily shape I am using for today's snowflakes is a cut file I got from the Silhouette Design Store. It is designed by Lori Whitlock and is called Round Doily. I love using a digital cut file for this banner, it allowed me to make the doily as big as I wanted to accommodate the letter in the center. This doily is about 2-1/4" in diameter. Another great option for the center of these snowflakes is the Crochet Doily die set by Echo Park. The doilies in this die set are closer in size to the original doily that I used on my first snowflakes at approximately 1-3/4" around. I mention this because that is the most asked question that I get from my orginal video that first aired in 2015, "where I can I find the doilies that you used". The ones I used in 2015 has since retired. But the sky is the limit as to what you can add to the center of this snowflake. 

The letters I used for my banner are from the Classic Type Alphabet die set by Scrapbook.com. And the circle die cut between my letter and doily is from Trinity Stamps, I have to mention it because when you die cut these circles they leave a beveled edge, love that!

Large Die of the Month - 2 Ways

Happy December my friends. One of the things I love about a new month is the arrival of the Spellbinders kits of the Month. Today I am sharing the December 2021 Large Die of the Month. I'll share the die set and all it's pieces, a sort of review and then make two different cards using this die set. 

If you are not familiar with the Kit of the Month program from Spellbinders you should take a second to check it out. They have three different kit of the month that are die sets, a Glimmer Hot Foil kit of the month, Clear Stamp of the Month, Card Kit of the Month and bundles of the different kits you can get as well. They are priced right and come to you each month that you want to continue getting them. 

This month's kit, Stitched Layered Background, has 6 dies in it. They layer together for a stunning look and one of the layers you are able to stitch on, or if you are not into stitching it looks great just die cut. Take a look at the two cards I made with this set, one has stitching and the other does not.

First let's look at the card I made without stitching. 

For this card I used all four of the largest dies to create this layered white panel. I die cut all the layers from White card stock for an elegant look and backed it with red for a pop of color. 

This elegant background paired beautifully with my Christmas Florals, a Glimmer Hot Foil set. 

For my second card I used the stitched panel to create the look of a Christmas sweater. 

First I stitched all the Red diamond shapes and thought I'd then layer the other die cuts over it like on the last card. BUT, the idea came to me to stitch in the open spaces connecting it all with green thread. Inspired by the Ugly (but not too ugly) Christmas sweater, I went for it.

That is not what that die is for

When first saw the Bottle Gift Tag die set from Trinity Stamps I thought it was a door knob hanger die! So, when I got it I just had to see if it would work for a door knob hanger. I love having dies that I can use multiple ways. And this die does make great bottle tags for bottles of wine or champagne. 

I wanted to make a holiday door knob hanger. One that I could use to hang on the door of our Den, which has become the dedicated wrapping room each holiday season. The door knob hanger could indicate that wrapping is happening and not to enter. So here is what I made for this purpose. 

This Stuck Santa die set is one of my favorites this holiday season, So, I created a very snowy scene for Santa and added No Peeking to the top of the hanger using the Graham Cracker alphabet, which fit perfectly at the top. 

But what happens when no wrapping is happening in the Den?  This question gave me the idea to make this door knob hanger reversible like many I have seen in hotels. 

Side two, has a die cut snowman from the Slimline Series Snowman die set, also from Trinity Stamps. 

Isn't he so super cute?  Now let's take a look at how this reversible door knob hanger came together.

Did you see all the different ways I added texture to this hanger??? 

It was hard to capture in photos all the texture here. But I added Snowfall Grit paste to the snow on the top of the chimney and the snow the chimney is sitting in. 

To make sure Santa's boot stand out from the background I added some glaze to them, the shine sets them apart just enough from the night sky. 

For the white trimming on Santa's suit I added Cotton Tail flock from Pink & Main. Flock is so super easy to use. I added glue where I wanted flocking and then sprinkled the flock on over the glue. EASY!  And having the soft fuzziness on his suit really helps to bring Santa to life. 

I did cut a slit in the side of the circle at the top of the hanger making it easier to get on and off the door knob. 

Now let's take a look at the flip side. 

You can see the Snowfall Grit paste on the snow that he is sitting in much better in this picture. That paste really looks like snow, I am in love with it! 

His eyes, nose and buttons are covered with glaze. 

THE HAT!!! I am in love with it. I covered the hat itself with Grandpa's Slippers Flock, which is Black. And the hat band is covered with Sparkling Santa's Hat Flocking, which is red flock with red glitter in it!!! 

I am in love with this double sided door hanger! It is very sturdy with a layer of light weight chip board in the center, so I am planning on using this for several years to come.

Trying Iron On Ink with Artesprix

Hello there! Today's post is totally different! I got to be a crafty scientist and create with Iron On Ink by Artesprix. They specialize in Sublimation products for crafting. Sublimation is basically ink that you can iron on to a hard surface. There is a science behind it all and I show you how to do it with a home iron in today's video.  I will be ironing my stamped images on to hard surfaces like wood, plastic and metal. All of these blank pieces are from Artesprix and have a polyester coating on them that allows them to take the sublimation ink. Look how gorgeous they came out using a sublimation ink pad and markers.

Now let's take a look at each of the projects I made. 

This is a wooden travel tag. The Poinsettia stamp is from Trinity Stamps and it is the image I used on all of the makes. To get this image in such bright colors onto this wooden tag I stamped it with sublimation ink on to a piece of printer paper. Then I used the Bright set of sublimation markers to color in the image. I use Pink, Red and Orange for the flower petals, to give them a bit of variation. The sentiment is from the Artesprix stamp set, it stamped with word backwards so that when you transfer the image to the blank it read correctly. Once all your stamping and inking is done on the printer paper you tape your blank to this with heat tape, sandwich it in-between the specialty heat paper and iron it. Artesprix does have a very nice silicone mat to use to protect your surface from a very hot home iron. After 3 minutes under a home iron your image will have transferred to the blank. 

Here is another I created on the wood tag. 

I dressed both of my tags up with my own ribbon at the top, turning them into some fun gift tags, but these travel tags do come with a rubber attacher that works great for adding this to luggage. 

Here is another blank surface that Artesprix sells, the keychain. I completely covered the surface of this keychain, coloring around the poinsettia with a light blue marker. I love the look and I added a couple beaded charms to it for fun.  The hardware for this key chain comes with it but is not attached making it easier for you to transfer your image. And the hardware snaps in place very easily. 

Last but not least I made a metal bookmark, also available at the Artesprix shop. This is metal and again, coated with a polyester coating, which is key to the sublimation process working. I share how I was able to get my hand written sentiment on the tag in the video, although I do not love how my handwriting turned out, it was sure fun seeing if I could do it. Which brings me to another idea for you. You can draw and transfer your own art work to any of these blanks!
