This past weekend I got to be part of the first ever Not 2 Shabby Fall Virtual Retreat. I taught a class on DIY Pattern Paper. This was a free event. If you missed out on this don't fret, it is now available on YouTube for rewatch. AND, you can easily craft along with me and 7 other amazing designers teaching classes there as well. The great thing about these classes is that you do not have to have the kit for the retreat to make along with us. The techniques, ideas and layouts can be translated easily with products you already own!

If you are going to craft along with me you will want to watch my HOMEWORK VIDEO first. In this video I give you all the prep work measurements so after making backgrounds with me you can turn them in to 6 cards!
Let's take a look at the pattern papers we are going to DIY!
This is the first background of 3. It involves, stenciling, stamping, coloring and splattering. Here are the two cards I designed with this paper.
You can see how you can easily used this idea and create a card with stamps that you own.
I think you are going to love the technique of making this paper so much and will find lots of different stamp and stencil combos to create it with.
Here is the second DIY Pattern Paper of 3.
This paper has to be my favorite! Let's take a look at the cards made with it.
This is a gate fold card and uses a darling little ephemera bird as the focal image.
For this car we just use a strip of the paper that can be seen from the outside and inside of the card, you'll have to take the class to see how.
THIRD and final background.
This is a great background to make if you want to use up ephemera pieces that you have been saving, but not used!!!
Then pair it up with larger ephemera pieces to make a card.
And this last card I turned into a shaker card.
