I have been changing out my home decor to all things Fall with a little touch of Halloween too. I always like to make some of my own decor pieces. Today I am sharing two pieces that created for just that.
I made a piece to attach to an easel clipboard that I have had for years. I like to make new pieces to hang on it for different seasons.
The second piece is a small frame that I found at the thrift store and did a little DIY with. Inserted into the frame is a hand stamped watercolored image.
Watch it all come together in this video. If you can not see the video up on your screen you can watch it here.
I'd love to know, do you use your paper crafting supplies to make home decor?
Here is another look at the clipboard piece.
The background turned out so good on this project. I am loving the dark moodiness of the top background lined up with the clean background underneath.
Watercoloring in these images was very relaxing. This piece could easily be translated into a card as well.
I am totally giddy at how this frame turned out that use to be black. Painting this was so much fun! And the insert turned out better than I could have imagined with the ink smooshing in the background and the watercolored image over the top.
The stamps I used to make todays projects are from the Trinity Stamps shop. I am loving all the fun stuff they have for Fall and Halloween this year.
Here are all the supplies I used to make these projects.

I have another FUN video for you today! These cards were made using the backgrounds I made last week with Arteza's Iridescent Acrylic Paints. In that video, I shared with your 10 ways to use these acrylic paints for card making. Not only I am using these super shiny backgrounds for my cards, I am bringing in the Black and White Glitter Card stock from Arteza for another shiny fun accent.
The background on this card is the Fancy Black Iridescent Acrylic Paint stenciled onto black card stock. I LOVE IT!
I also used black and white glitter card stock on this card. The black glitter is on the right hand side of the card. I colored the white glitter paper with Copic Markers to be two toned. I love that the white glitter paper can be custom colored!
CARD THREE
I hand painted this background with three different colors of the Iridescent Acrylic paint. I love doing this so much, I am sure it will make something like it again.
Here is another tone on tone background with the Pretty Pink Iridescent Acrylic paint, that looks white on white paper, until you turn it in the light and then you get a glimpse of the pink.
I put black glitter card stock behind the heart cut out, it's the perfect back drop for this love struck skunk.
CARD FIVE
This background was painted on white card stock to create a rainbow with several of the Iridescent Acrylic paints.
All of the black hearts on this card are black glitter paper. The smaller hearts are covered with glaze to create a DIY embellishment.
CARD SIX
This background was created on my gel press. I loved using this panel to make a slimline card.
I used black glitter paper as the layer behind my card front and white glitter paper as the floor that my little scene is on. I love using glitter paper in place of traditional card stock to add a special element to a card.
CARD SEVEN
Here's another card using a Gel Press background. This print was made on black paper, I just love how the Iridescent Acrylic paint look on black card stock.
I also colored some white glitter card stock for this card, the strip across the bottom of this card was tinted using the Electric Plum Iridescent paint.
CARD EIGHT
This card has a watercolored background that I made by watering down the Iridescent Acrylic paints. I also painted the wooden snowflakes with the same paints. And splattered the blue hill as well.
I have to say, I am very impressed with the Glitter card stock by Arteza! It is heavy weight. The glitter does not rub off. I cuts easily. And, it has great shine!
Thank you so much for stopping by and letting me share these card with you. I wish the pictures could do this cards just a bit of justice as to the amount of shine and sparkle. But if you want to add these elements to your card making the Iridescent Acrylic Paints and Glitter Card Stock from Arteza are a good what to do just that. This kit has 15 pieces; 6 Glimmer Hot Foil Plates and 9 dies. There are dies to cut out all of the glimmer hot foiled images, plus dies that cut out supporting images. I have used them all on the card I made so you can really get a feel for this kit. This month's kit also comes with a roll of Copper Foil. It is a gorgeous color!
You can see this kit in action and watch this card come together in the video below.
In this months Kit you are going to get plates to hot foil a mushroom, maple leaf, oak leaf, acorn, a flower and a sentiment (thankful for you). There are dies to cut out each of the images, but not the sentiment. The dies cut on the hot foil line, leaving no white border. The Copper foil that comes in this kit is a gorgeous metallic brownish orange gold color that I am just in love with!
The other dies in this kit cut out a branch, flowers for this branch, leaves and a flower to layer on top of the hot foiled flower. It's really fun to mix and match all the foiled images with the die cut images as I have done on this card. It make it all fit how I wanted I made an A7 card, 10" x 7", scored at 5".
If you have any questions about hot foiling or the kits of the month from Spellbinder please let me know I am glad to help.

Hello Friends! What is your favorite medium to color with? Are you an alcohol marker user? Do you love water brush pens? Or how about colored pencils?
Today I am coloring in the same image with all three of these mediums. It seems to me that images of hands are very popular in the stamp industry right now. So, I thought I'd share my favorite stamp set of hands, Happy Together from the Not 2 Shabby shop, and show my 3 favorite coloring mediums and make 3 cards. Sounds fun right???
Watch the fun right here...
If you can not see the video on this screen you can also watch it right here.
The first medium I used is Copic Markers, my go to and favorite coloring medium right now.
I stamped my image on Accent Opaque Super Smooth 80lb. White card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
For the hand on the right I used the following markers:
E27, E25, E25
For the hand on the left I used:
E35, E33
The purpose of today's post is not to share expert tips on coloring techniques. I do not claim to be an expert at coloring. I just love to color. I love to use and try different things. I wanted to share with you how this image looks colored 3 different ways. And I want to encourage you to just play and have fun with your coloring. You do not have to be an expert to enjoy coloring with any of these mediums.
For each of my cards I used the Frosted and Tufted paper pad from Not 2 Shabby to pick a background paper that I liked for each of the colored hands. This one has a Swiss dots pattern on light pink. I then used my Conversation Hearts stencil from Lawn Fawn to stencil on some Glitz Glitter Gel love the top fo that. This made for a fun background on each of the cards.
For my second card I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens.
These are a waterbed marker with a brush tip, These markers blend with each other and with water.
I used Bristol Smooth paper and Versafine Onyx Black ink.
For the right on the left I used the following markers:
Dark Brown #062
Mid Brown #065
For the hand on the left I used:
Oatmeal #064
Natural Beige #107
If I was to redo on of set of hands it would be this one. The two dark browns I used had different under tones. One being more of a pink undertone and the other yellow. So I did not get the blend I was hoping for and so I kept trying to fix it by adding more. I feel okay with how it turned out but would be happy to give it another go.
To cut out the hands and sentiments for these cards I used my Pix Scan Mat and my Cameo Silhouette. I have a quick tutorial of this in the video if you are interested.
For my third cards I pulled out my Arteza Colored Pencils.
I used Accent Opaque Super Smooth White card stock and Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
The pencils I used for the hand on the right are:
Dark Chocolate #A118
Sienna Brown #A048
The pencils I used for the hand on the left are:
Burnt Ochre #A113
Peaches & Cream #A022
The Glitz Glitter Gel really shows up on this dark brown patterned paper. In some lights is reflects a little green.
I really love how the colored pencil looks. I don't color with them as much as I used to. How about you, do you use colored pencils or markers more?
Here is a look at all three cards together. I would love to know which of the three you like best. I enjoyed coloring all of them and finding so many different skin tones to bring to life.

Today is all about slimline, rainbows, unicorns and watercoloring! Sounds like fun to me!
In Episode 4 I am making slimline cards! My current favorite thing to make! So, you knew there would be an episode with slimlines.
I made two different cards, like I like to do, both using watercoloring to color in my images. And it was so fun playing with watercolors!
Take a look at today's cards.
I pulled out a couple other Avery Elle sets for todays cards, Rainbows stamp set and die set and Peek-a-Boo Balloon stamp and die set as well. I really wanted to make a "somewhere over the rainbow" card. And there is where the unicorn is going in his hot air balloon.
I used my Arteza watercolors to paint all of my images and the sky background as well.
To give them a bit of shimmer I sprayed the sky and rainbow with Avery Elle Clear Shimmer Spray. A pretty easy card to make.
These slimline cards measure: 9" x 8" scored at 4"
The card front layer is 3-3/4" x 8-3/4"
For card two I used the Rainbows die set to make a shaker for the front of the card.
Each of the rainbow strips were die cut from a watercolored panel to give character to each piece. I also used those watercolored panels to stamp my rain drops on.
My shaker elements are from Nuvo, Rainbow Quartz Triangles. I might just adore these little iridescent triangles! I used them in Episode 3 for both of my shaker cards.

Thank you for taking time out of your day with me!
Hey there stamping friends. I am back with Episode 3 of my January Stamp Set of the month series. Featuring the Peek A Boo Balloon stamp and die set by Avery Elle.
Each week I will be bringing you new ideas with this set! Today's card is a slimline card, I know I did that last week. But it seems to be the perfect card size for this stamp set. This week I knew I wanted to include two balloons on one card, and slimline is the perfect fit for this.
This card was inspired by the night glow event that we have in Boise, Idaho. At this event hot air balloons fire up at night but are tethered to the ground. It is a sight to see with hundreds of balloons a glow.
To set the night time scene, I used Arteza watercolors. And made a gradient of blues down the watercolor paper panel that would become my card front. For a slimline card (a card that fits a business size envelope) I cut my card front down to 9-1/8" x 3-3/4" to fit my card that is 9-1/4" x 7-3/4" scored at 3-7/8".
To make the balloon look as if they are glowing I chose to color them with a single color scheme; one yellow and one orange. I chose two shades of yellow from my Arteza Real Brush pens and colored in a circular motion, so that the color was darker around the outer edge and light as you get to the center. The gave the look of the fire glowing on the inside of the balloon.
Since the Arteza Real Brush pens are a water based ink I was able to blend them out further with the use of a water brush pen. To finish off the look I added some highlights with a white gel pen.
To see this card come to life check out the video below.

This is the last one, the last episode featuring the Cocoa Stand stamp and die set by Avery Elle.
This is the card I have been waiting to make! I combined all three kinds of stands, Cocoa Stand, Tree Farm, Sledding Stand into one card. One long card. The finished card is 4" x 9-1/2" and fits in a legal size envelope.
I just adore this stamp set and had to much fun making this card. One of the reasons I love it is because I had so much fun coloring in the images. Every week I have shown you a different medium to color these images in with . This week I used Watercolor pencils. And I AM IN LOVE with watercolor pencils now. I have used them in the past but this time something clicked and I was lost in coloring. I think it is because I have been watching Sandy Allnock, the colorist extordinare, color with watercolor pencils and not only was I inspired but I learned a few things.
So what did I learn about coloring with watercolor pencils?
1.Coloring with watercolor pencils is not like coloring with colored pencils. Think of watercolor pencils as a way of laying down paint. You do not need to worry about blending, about it being neat and smooth. Use the watercolor pencils as a tool to put color in an area. The blending and magic happen when you wet this color and paint with it.
2. Paper matters. I had been using my watercolor pencils on white card stock. And the results were fine. But nothing to get excited about. So I did what seems obvious now and used watercolor paper. The difference was big enough that I started to love watercolor pencils. It was a way for me to get a watercolor look with more control than using straight up watercolor paints.
3. Light to Dark. When I paint out watercolor pencil I want to start with the darkest color I have laid down, but I found the opposite to be best. The reason I start with the light is so that the dark does not over take the light color. When you wet watercolor pencil coloring you are able to pick up that color and move it. I dont want to darken my lightest areas. So, I start with the light and work my way into the dark.
4. Go towards the line. I also found that when I paint I need to paint going towards the outline of the image. Otherwise I am removing the paint at the line. But when I paint moving towards the line I a moving color in that direction and am able to blend the lighter color with the dark.
5. Clean your brush often. Went painting over watercolor pencils the water with the pencil makes paint and your brush is picking up that paint. You can easily transfer that to another section of one image. Now an area that you want to be light could be contaminated with the paint on your brush. So, I clean my brush off even when painting one image that is the same color, so I can maintain the light areas. For example, the strings of lights I painted for this card, each light bulb has a lighter area at the bottom, I was able to maintain that by cleaning off my brush in between each light bulb.
Be sure to watch the video below to see the making of this card so you can see the things I learned about watercolor pencils in action. I will be using Arteza Expert Watercolor Pencils, set of 72. I love how nicely these pencils blend out with water and the price for 72 pencils is perfect for a novice watercolor pencils user.

It's a brand new month and that means its time for a new stamp set of the month! This month my daughter Hannah picked my stamp set! She chose the Avery Elle stamp set, Cocoa Stand. It is a super cute stamp set that you can make a Hot Cocoa Stand, Tree Stand and Sledding Stand. Hannah also gave me some rules for this week's card. She challenged me to use Colored Pencils to color with, and to use only one color of card stock beside white and I was only allowed to use one pen.
I love challenges like this, it helps me make something I might not think of on my own. If you have an idea to challenge me with for next week's card leave a comment below.
All the coloring was done with colored pencils! And the only pen I used was a white gel pen for some hightlights. I am very happy with the texture I was able to get with the colored pencils on the wood of the tree stand and on the trees themselves. You can see how I did this in the video below. But it is just a matter of adding in lines with a heavy hand and then coloring over them with a light hand and a few shades of your choice of colors.
I really had fun with the colored pencils, it had been a while since I colored with them. I was very happy that I was able to get texture for the wood planks, it turned out better than I thought.
And here are the cute gift tags to go with today's card. I kept them simple because gift tags are usually tossed but you still want them to make a package super cute!
Check out the video here, and be sure to watch it on YouTube and leave a comment for a chance to win today's card.

Today is Part 4 of my June Stamp Set of the Month series! It is the last Monday that I will be bringing you creations with the Rawrsome stamp set. Not to say that I will not be using this stamp set again, because I certainly will, it is so cute. In fact I'd love to ask Lawn Fawn to make a mini stamp set to go with it that has a T-Rex!
I have loved all the cards and boxes that I have made this month, and have made some really fun masculine cards. But today's creation might be my favorite! Because it was inspired by a sweatshirt that my daughter Hannah has. Every time she wears it she gets compliments on it from people of all ages.
Do you love the pink and green? I LOVE IT SO MUCH. Here is the sweatshirt that inspired this card.
And now you know why I need a Lawn Fawn T-Rex stamp!
Now let's chat about coloring on White Card stock vs. Colored card stock.
Colored Card stock is not as smooth as white card stocks. Which means you will have different results even when using the same pencils and same techniques as on white paper.
To use or not to use Gamsol. For this card I did not use Gamsol on the focal image, the dinosaur colored on white card stock. I don't find it necessary to do so on white. I like just using my pencils in light layers and blending them with each other. Then I come in with a Blending Nub and burnish the pencil in to the paper. Doing this with our the Gamsol will soften the pencil lines, and blend out the colors even more. BUT, I did use the Gamsol on the colored card stock. It is very hard to get a blended soft look on colored card stock. With the use of Gamsol I am able to soften those pencil lines out so that my image does not have the scratchy pencil look. I find Gamsol is a must on colored card stock.
Pencils are the way to go on colored card stock! If you want an image colored in on colored card stock, then colored pencils should be one of the first things you reach for. They will stay most true to color on colored card stock. This medium sits on top of the paper and does not soak in like a marker will. When I colored in my dinosaurs on my background I used a different technique than with the white card stock. I first colored side to side and then added a second layer, coloring the image up and down. It's like going with the grain of the paper and then against it. This helps to fill in all the area with color. But to completely do this with a clean look Gamsol and a blending nub are the trick.
Blending Nub is the last step. On both papers, with or with out Gamsol, make sure all your coloring is done before you blend it out with the blending nub. Very little can be done to add color once you take this step. On the pink card stock, I also used a heavier hand to outline the edge of the dinos before adding the Gamsol. Gamsol helps fill in the tooth of the card stock as does burnishing the color with just the blending nub. Once that is done color can not be added.
Are you a colored pencil user? I'd love to hear if you like to use Gamsol or not when finishing up an image.

Happy Monday! Today I am bringing you Part 2 of my June Stamp Set of the Month series. That means a video and creations using the Rawrsome stamp and die set by Lawn Fawn. It's a stamp set that I picked to feature this month because it is versatile, has cute images and sentiments and, of course, a matching die set.
If you missed Part 1 you have to check it out, I made the cutest volcano card! Today I have created a card and matching gift box for Dad! You can check out the video below, but make sure you click over to YouTube and like as well a comment on the video so that you can be entered to win the card I made!
Now let's take a closer look at the Rawrsome Dad card made in this video.
These two dinosaur images are so cute! Seriously a Papa and baby dinosaur! I colored my images in using my Arteza Real Brush markers. Look at the blend! It's one of those things that we card maker's get excited about, because it was so easy and it turned out so good! Below I have linked the set that I have, the set of 48. But they also have a larger set of 96, if you love having ALL THE COLORS. Which I do and am so tempted to get, which is a real possibility because Arteza's products are so reasonably priced, and I am digging how this markers color. When I say they are a REAL BRUSH marker, I mean that the tip of the marker is not a felt tip like you might be used to, it is a brush. A brush like a paint brush. When you press down on the tip if fans out. That also means that the tip comes to a very fine point. So, you can going to use these a little different than you would a felt tip marker. These markers are water-based. Which means you can blend them! Blend them out with water, a blender pen, or with each other, like I did coloring in my dinos.
Now let's take a look at the coordinating gift box, made using the Popcorn Box die by Fun Stampers Journey.
For this dinosaur I reversed a coloring. Which do you like better, the blue dinosaur or the orange? Leave a comment below to let me know your pick.
In the video I show you how to make this box, which is large and best suited for a piece of 12x12 paper, using an 8-1/2" x 11" piece of card stock. The trick is to cut the card stock in half, so you have two pieces that are 5-1/2" x 8-1/2". Then on each piece cut one half of the box. Watch the video for my pointers and how to create a second tab to put this box together. It's pretty easy.
The oval on the front of the box was saved from the I Lava You card from last week. And, I used the Modern Frame die set to cut the two leafy branches from the same Gel Press print used to make today's card. I put some Cracker Jacks in the box for this picture, but I am going to be making some Almond Rocca for Dad for Father's Day.
Thank you so much for stopping by, taking time out of your day to let me share my creations with you! Below I have listed and linked all the products I used for these projects. If you have any questions just let me know, I love to chat with you.
