Hello my crafty friends. I am getting messy in the craft room today. My inner kindergartener is coming out to play. I am doing some finger painting on the Gel Press! No surprise, it was tons of fun!
Since I am showing off the Whimsical and Wild stamp sets today, which are designed by Jane Davenport for Spellbinders, I wanted to combine mixed media with my card making style. When I saw a finger painting video by Gel Press I knew I needed to do that for these cards.
I started by making a swirly background that I could stamp my elephant on from the Elephant Dreams stamp set. Then I would be able to do a bit of paper piecing and not color my elephant the traditional way. You can see the making of the print and cards as well in the video below.
I'd love to know what you think of my elephant, cause I think it's fabulous. Using a Gel Press print give is so much texture, depth and interest that you can not get any other way.
For my second card and the Giraffe Wisdom stamp set, I wanted to make a more intensional print, a giraffe print background. I started by making organic shapes with my finger and brown paint on my Gel Press. I let that dry and brayered over the dried paint with a golden yellow color to pick up the paint. I am so tickled with how it turned out.
To color my giraffe and the girl on the elephant card I used my Journey Color Burst pencils. I like the look of colored pencils with a gel press print.
If you would like to see me finger painting and making these cards you can watch it all in the video below.

Don't you love it when a project in the works gets completed! Today I am sharing my finished letter board. It stared with the Let's Toast stamp set by Lawn Fawn and a banner to go across the top of my Letter Board. I love this set so much it is my January Stamp Set of the month, a set that I pick to feature each Monday night LIVE on my Facebook page. AND, every month I have a PDF tutorial and video featuring 4 WOW projects with the Stamp Set of the Month. The Let's Toast tutorial is available HERE. Now, let's take a look at my completed letter board, decked out with images from the Let's Toast stamp set.
To dress up the large open space at the bottom of the Letter Board, I knew I wanted to fill it in with a little scene. I also knew I wanted to add in images from the Thanks A Latte set, also by Lawn Fawn. What I had to figure how it is how I was going to attach these to the letter board.
I thought about using the scratchy part of velcro, but was afraid that it make make the felt of the letter board get fuzzy. I knew I was going to have to create something to go on the back of each piece so it would insert into the spaces on the letter board, just at the letters do.
So, I took a piece of card stock and created a T shape, it has a flat spot to adhere to the back of an image and a straight piece that fits right into the slits on the letter board.
Here are the measurements to create these:
Start with a strip of sturdy card stock that measures: 1/2" x 1-1/2"
Score this at: 1/4", 1/2", 1" and 1-1/4"
Fold the ends in like z shape and glue the two end tabs together, press them down, creating a T shape. You can see what they look like when glued together in the photo above. I show you how to make them in the video below. You can also see the creation of each of the stamped elements.
You can see the making of the banner or part 1 of this letter board HERE.
If you love the Let's Toast stamp set, you can find it HERE as well at the matching die set and the Thanks A Latte stamp and die set, infact, Scrapbookpal.com is my favorite online store to shop for Lawn Fawn.
And, if you LOVE this stamp set, you will also LOVE my Let's Toast Tutorial.
This tutorial features 4 WOW cards with the Let's Toast stamp and die set. The cost is just $5 and you get a full color PDF with directions on how to cut and make each card. You also get a link to a private video tutorial with the making of each card. Get your by clicking the link below.
Today I want to share a fun project made with my Stamp Set of the Month, Let's Toast. I picked this stamp set by Lawn Fawn as my stamp set of the month because it is so cute and versatile. So, each Monday night on my Facebook page I will be sharing a live demonstration with this set during the month of January. I also have a tutorial available with this stamp set, showing you how to make 4 WOW cards and it's available at the bottom of this post.
This past Monday night I shared this cute banner for my letter board.
Doesn't that just make you smile, To a Butter Year!!!
Let's take a look at each of the banner pieces up close.
I love that the coordinating die set has two different dies that cut slits in the toaster. There's a die to cut one slit and a die to cut 2 slits. This die does not remove any paper, it just creates an opening in the toaster, so cool!
For the Pop Tart Toasters on this banner I used the die to make two slits, and on this toaster I used the die to make one slit.
All the images were colored in using colored pencils, as per popular vote. My facebook followers voted on what I should use to color these images in and colored pencils won. And I am so glad they did, because I tend to reach for markers for these images, but I love the look of the toaster with the colored pencils. And the other images have a great look as well.
I love the chocolate pop tart, and how cute they look popping up out of the toaster. The patterned paper is a great match for this project with the two shades of yellow, it is from the Playful Prints pack by FSJ.
If you watched the live video on facebook when I made this banner you might notice some changes, in this banner. I added a few things and changes a few things. If you did not catch me live I have included the video for you to watch below.
Be sure to tune in for my live video on Monday night so you can see what I make for the bottom of the letter board.
Want more ideas with the Let's Toast stamp and die sets?
Consider my Let's Toast Tutorial. Inside the PDF you will find 4 WOW cards with color pictures and step by step directions to make all 4 cards. You will also get a link to an exclusive video tutorial.
When I first saw the DIY Hoops from FSJ I knew I was going to have a lot of fun making ornaments. And since I LOVE to make shaker cards I knew I wanted to try to make a shaker ornament with these hoops.
To make these shakers you will need two hoops. The ornaments I am making today are with the medium hoops in a package, They measure about 3-1/4" in diameter.
I pared the Cozy Prints paper pack with the It's Cold Outside stamp set. All the coloring was done with Color Burst pencils.
I added the sentiment to the back of these ornaments so that if they get turned around on the tree there is something else to see.
Making these ornaments are easier to make than you might think, but there are a few key steps, so I have a video for you to watch to see how to make them.
You can find all the fun things I used to make these ornaments below.

The It's Cold Outside is my November stamp set of the month. If you purchase this set through the link above, email me your order number and I will send you an exclusive card kit to make your first card with your new stamp set on me!
Thank you for stopping by! Tune in tomorrow to see the gift box I made to put these ornaments in and the matching gift tag.
It is very similar to yesterday's Fall themed card. I also made this background on my Gel Press with the Buffalo Check Stencil. I love the matte look of the acrylic paint on my card stock and it has a bit of texture that you can not get with ink.
I added some snowflake elements to this card by stamping a snowflake background on the green circle using the Cold Snap stamp by Spellbinders.
The black snowflake element is 3 die cut snowflakes from the Snow Flowers die set by FSJ. I just glued the three snowflake together to make it a thicker element. Once in place on the card I covered it with Journey Glaze.
On the LIVE demonstration (see video below) I said that this month I would be making a card and matching tag each week with this Stamp Set of the Month. So, here is the matching tag for this card.
It's very similar to the card. Take a close look at the sentiment. I added a shadow to the stamped image with a light gray colored pencil. Giving it a shadow and a bit of a vintage feel.
This tag was die cut from the Special Day Tag Die set. After die cutting the tag, I added a hole in the top of the tag for my twine and a hole in each of the scallops at the bottom.
What a cute set, I so enjoyed making a tag to match my card. Below you will find all the things I used to make these projects as well as the video to the Live demonstration of this card and the fall card. You will want to see how I made the background for these on a Gel Press.

Wanna bring a smile to your neighbors face? Why not leave them something cute on their door knob?
The DIY hoops are the perfect thing to make a cute door knob hanger. I have dressed this hoop up with the Happy Harvest stamp set.
This project is from Episode #2 of the Happy Harvest series. Each Monday in October I will be sharing a project with the Happy Harvest stamp set on my Facebook page in a LIVE video. So, be sure to follow my page so that you don't miss out on the fun. And I will be giving away one of these exact door knob hangers on that page, all you have to do is leave a comment on the post to be entered to win. You can find my Facebook Page Here.
My favorite part of this project was coloring in the scarecrow. It is true that coloring is a calming activity. And I love the professional look I get with a good set of colored pencils.
If you missed the live video demonstration you can watch it below to see how I made this. And I'll show you how to use colored pencils to get this soft shaded look.
I have linked all the supplies I used to make this for you below:
I hope you have enjoyed this project and are inspired to make something that will bring a smile to someone. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Hello Stamping Friends, coming to you today with Part 2 of the Bestie Swaptacular!
Today Georgie and I are sharing our cards made with the goodies that I selected and sent her.
I sent a piece of background paper that I made using shaving cream, buttons and a nice long piece of Lemon Drop Satin Ribbon.
First up I will share what I made.
The swirls in the shaving cream made me think of ice-cream. And I had just ordered the Sweet Life stamp set and was anxious to play with it.
I really enjoyed coloring in my image with Color Burst Pencils. I love taking multiple shades of one color and getting that shaded look on my images.
I did not stop there, I actually decorated the inside of the card. Not something I do very often, but I working on it.
First let's talk about the little ice-cream on a stick that I made out of Pearler Beads. It is a craft my daughters like to do and I was making some cute things with my daughter the other night and I asked her if I could make an ice-cream cone to match my card. So we came up with this. She ironed it for me and hot glued it to the stick.
Second, this card obviously needed a place to put a gift card, which is what the bow at the bottom of the card is for, you slide a gift card behind it. I think a Baskin Robbins card would do nicely.
I am sharing the video on how I made the Rainbow Shaving Cream backgrounds for you below. After you watch it make sure you click over and subscribe to my YouTube Channel.
Now I want you to brace yourself for Georgie's card that she made with the Rainbow Shaving Cream background that I sent her. It is so very clever!
It's seriously amazing, a rainbow Christmas card, WOW, it's really fun! And I love how she added the Rainbow Drops, the colored gems! Which you can get in a discounted bundle until 9/23/18, check it out HERE. Be sure to click over to her blog and catch the making of this card video, she did a cool thing with her ribbon.
Below I have listed all the products I have used to make my card, click on any image to view it in my online store.
Thank you for taking time out of your day to stop and check out my creations. I hope you are inspired. I'd love to hear from you feel free to leave a comment or question below.
I am excited to be sharing with you one of the projects that I got to demonstrate at the Fun Stampers Journey convention in June. It is a new way to use the Card Carrier Die. Just using one panel, I turned it into a pencil holder. The one I am sharing with you today, I decorated for my 10 year old daughters friends. So, Unicorns, of course!
First up you should see the bag that the Card Carrier Bag is intended to make. See it HERE.
I have also shared with you how to make a Flat Card Carrier Bag. See that HERE.
An on this post I show you how to make the bag wider. See how HERE.
Now, let me show you how to make this pencil holder.
You need to die cut just one of the large die pieces from the Card Carrie Die set.
Next you need to cut off the gusset, we do not need that to make this bag.
Now we need to fold this piece in half, well, almost half, up to the score line, like this...
Open this up and cut away half of the bottom flap.
If you want to stamp it, now is the time to do so, Then flip it over and glue it closed.
First glue the two flaps together, then glue it closed.
The are easy to make, therefore why not make several, right!
Below you can watch the making of the Card Carrier Pencil Holder, and as a BONUS I show you how to make Clear Sparkle embossing powder with items you might just have on hand! It's what I used to make the unicorn circle sparkle!
NOTE: In the video I used Bubble Gum Silk and in the project pictures on this post I used Sparkle Silk, I felt like that looked better with the end result.
Here is a list of all the products I used to make the Card Carrier Pencil Holder. Click on any image to shop it in my online store.
Be sure to check back tomorrow when I share with you something else you can do with the Card Carrier Pencil Holder!
Thank you so much for stopping by. Please let me know if I can help you out with anything or if you have any questions.
I love to combine two convenient things into one, it makes me feel so smart. This card does just that. It combines a Birthday card with a gift card holder. Now I have a cute birthday card on hand ready to give and it has a fun gift card holder on the inside. It's the card and gift all in one. And it fills in a space if you are are one of those people who just want to say Happy Birthday and sign your name. There's nothing wrong with that, you gave a card and that says a lot, right? But if it is a time when you have a lot to say, there are two sides to the inside of a card.
Its a fun and easy card, I am a huge fan of white on white cards. It's simple and pretty.
On this card I made my own Epoxy accents using hand held punches and Journey Glaze. The star and heart hand held punches are currently 20% off! And under $6 bucks is a GREAT deal for these cute punches, just thought you'd want to know! (LINK BELOW)
Did you happen to catch my BIG Virtual Stamp party on Saturday? Well, this was one of the cards I demonstrated, you can catch the video of the making of this card here...
Below is a link to all the products I used to make this card
Thank you for taking time to stop by my blog and check out my creations. Feel free to leave a comment or question below.
Hey stamping friends! This week I am going to be sharing with you the versatility of the Let's Eat Cake stamp set by Fun Stampers Journey. It is obvious that this stamp set makes for some CUTE birthday cards. But I also thought it would be fun to play around with it and see what other fun things I could do this this set.
Today's card is a Valentine card, because, well, it is 2/14. This is a card I made for a friend. I colored my macarons in pinks and red for the occasion using my Color Burst pencils.
The background paper for this card was made on my Gel Press, you can see the video of how I made it on my Facebook page. I'd love for you to follow me there, I do live video's every Friday night with exclusive projects just for my followers.
Be sure to check back here on Friday as well, when I share another idea with this same stamped image, you're gonna flip over it!
I hope you have a fabulous Valentines Day. Just enjoy the day no matter what it brings and find a way to show love to someone today.
When your nine year old daughter mentions "unicorn valentine", what do you do? If you are a card maker you have to make that card! That's what we do, when inspiration strikes we put everything else on the back burner while the creative juices are flowing and make that card. There really is no back burner in this scenario. All the burners are taken up with rubber stamps, ink pads, cut up paper, dies, glitter, punches, foam squares and all the things.
What can I say? Organza Ribbon, a heart rhinestone, Sparkle Silk and a UNICORN. It's magical.
To make this unicorn magical here is what I did:
1. I colored the unicorn with Journey Color Burst Pencils (#2, #6,#9,#46)
2. Covered all the colored areas with Sparkle Silk
3. Then covered all of that with Journey Glaze.
This is such a fun stamp set, great for Mom's and daughters! I loved unicorns as a little girl and now my daughter love them too.
I had the Serendipity books and the Unicorn and Pegasus books where my favorite. Did anyone else have these books?
You can shop the supplies used to make this card here:
Thank you for stopping by my blog. It brings me joy to share my love of card making with you and my hope is that you are inspired and found some new ideas.
Have you tried the Note Pocket die from Fun Stampers Journey yet? It is so versatile!
Today I am sharing another fun project using this die, a Thanksgiving Napkin Holder. But it really is much more, it can hold lots of things and then be a little gift or treat holder!
Look here, I put a Pumpkin Spice Latte mix in this holder, how fun!
This project is pretty quick and easy to make. And it would be really easy to dress this up for any occasion. I have made a video for you to show you how I made the "Napkin Holder" as I have named it. But think it could have a much better name, any thought, suggestions or ideas for me?
Here are all the fun things I used to make today's project:

Does woodgrain bring you joy? That's crazy right! That a little texture and varying colors of brown would bring a person joy. Well it does for me! I love all things woodgrain! And when my bestie Georgie told me she had created a print on her Gel Press that had the look of woodgrain I was like WHAT, STOP IT, tell me more. And this sparked a swap. Georgie and I both are Gel Press obsessed. Making our own background papers makes us giddy and when your in your forties and something makes you feel giddy again, it's kinda a big deal! We now have so many prints that we created, we decided to swap some with each other. For this swap, we cut our 8-1/2" x 11 prints into card front size and sent each other 15 mystery prints. I picked two of hers that I wanted us to make cards with. This print is one of the, the WOODGRAIN print. Georgie is also making a card with this print. So today you get to see BOTH of our creations.
This is what the print started out like, this is a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece. To give it more of a woodgrain look I took a few of my brown toned ink pads and used a dragging motion to create more streaks and lines over the paper. Here's the result.
Joy and giddiness collided when I saw this! Gel Press Woodgrain!
When came to making my card I decided to pair it with another of my faves, Cool Pool card stock.
I hope that my card has brought you some joy. I would love to share with you how to make Gel Press Woodgrain plus how to make the reverse image of the beaver on Facebook live tonight. So, click over to my Facebook page, like it, follow it, leave me a comment and then come back tonight at 9:30pm MST and I'll show you how you can recreate this look!
Now, you should really click over to Georgeann Manning's blog, Stamping Everything, and check out her creation with this print.
And if you did not catch the bubble wrap print post from our swap you can find that one HERE.

If you follow my blog at all and have read any of my posts in the last month then you know, I am in love with the Gel Press!
I have made hundreds of prints with it now and am currently working on using fabric to create texture in my prints. But, today I am going to share with you one of my FAVORITE prints I have made to date. First of all you should know that dried paint on the Gel Press makes me so happy. I love when I make a print on top of dried paint, left over from a previous print, I get a glorious surprise! In this video I will show you how to pick up some of that dried on paint using a stencil.
Here is a piece of the first print and the card I made with it.
I did not take a picture of the entire print before I cut it up, WHY!?! But, here is the piece I used to make my Viva Los Muertos card. Isn't it so amazing! I love the specks of black, the wash of light color underneath, and the streaking in the stencil print! I knew right away that this would be a great piece of paper to make a Day of the Dead card.
I do find this card somewhat busy, but then again, I think it captures the feel of the holiday. I stamped the skull image and then the flower image repeatedly with Black Licorice ink in a pattern around the edge of a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whip Cream card stock. Then I cut out the center of the card stock, creating a frame. I sponged the edges of the frame with Rock Candy ink, giving it a softer look.
I also randomly stamped the sentiment "DIA DE LOS MUERTOS" in Black Licorice ink on my print. I purposely did not ink the stamp very good, so I could get a more distressed look.
My dancing Catrina is stamped with Black Licorice ink on Whip Cream card stock. Then I colored her in using my Journey Color Burst Pencils. To cut her out I used my Details Pro Shears. I sponged around her as well with the Rock Candy ink. To finish her off I covered the entire image with Journey Glaze and while the glaze was still wet I sprinkled on some Journey Sparkle Cuts.
The fringed flowers were made with a retired Bloom Benefit that I got for free with an order from Fun Stampers Journey. You could use tissue paper to make a flower or a die cut flower in place of these.
Now onto my second card, this one really showcases the print. So, lets start off with the print, this is the second print I made in the video.
I cut this print in and used one of the pieces to make this card.
I mounted the piece onto a Sweet Berry card (size 4-1/4" x 11" score at 5-1/2"). The sentiment is stamped with Clear Pigment Ink and embossed with Gold Powder.
I added this to the card with foam squares, popping it up off the card. To dress it up I added some Fashion Gold Pearls and a strip of Sweet Romance Tape. The tape is a Bloom Benefit, you can get for free with purchase. See page 13 in the catalog.
Today, this card is going out in the mail to share some love with a friend. I love that I can send a little hug in the mail with my cards!
