Painted Peonies and Background stamps

Hey there stamping friends. Today on the YouTube channel you will find Episode 2 of my May Stamp Set of the Month series. This month I am featuring the Painted Peony stamp set by Concord & 9th.  This is a beautiful layering stamp set, with stunning florals. I fell in love with this floral set and am excited to play with it and create different ideas with this set for you. If you missed the first episode you can view it here.

In this episode I am pairing layering background stamps with the Painted Peonies. I love background stamps and Concord & 9th have some of my faves!  Turnabout stamps allow you to stamp one background in multiple colors and I will be using another background stamp that layers!  

Take a look at today's cards. Both cards measure 5" x 5". I love a fun and different size for my cards!  

The first background I used is the Polka Dot Turnabout Stamp set. I used 4 shades of yellow on this stamp to create the background. And even splattered it a bit with purple metallic watercolor. 

And here you can see the peony with all it's layers in purple. For today's cards I used ink from Altenew. I love that their ink comes in collections of four that layer good together. Perfect for layered stamping like this. I have all the inks I used linked for you below. 

The second background I used is the Gingham background stamp set. It has two pieces in it so you can layer the stitched criscross image over the top. 

I love gingham and plaid, so this stamp is definitely one of my faves!  Even thought peonies are not blue I thought this color of flower would look great with a yellow background. I love that with stamps you can make the impossible, beautiful.  

I just love stamping the three stamps in this set and see the layers come together to create this beautiful flower.

3 Faves on the Gel Press

Hey there stamping friends. It is time for the last episode of my May Stamp Set of the Month series, featuring the Painted Peony stamp set by Concord & 9th. 

I love pairing florals with Gel Press Prints. There is something about adding soft pretty flowers to a bit grungy background that is so appealing to me. For my Gel Press prints I am sharing 3 of my favorite things to use on my Gel Press prints to create texture.

Now let's take a closer look at the three cards I made in this episode. 

I am sure by this photo you can tell what one of my favorite things to use on the Gel Press is, Burlap. Pressing Burlap into the paint on a Gel Press gives you such amazing texture on your print. And I love how it looks with these orange peonies. 

This print is more subtle, but it uses one of my other favorites to create texture in the paint, a potato produce bag. It creates an irregular pattern as it is such a fine material that it moves a little in the paint. I picked up my textured paint with a book page for this card, and I love the results. For this card I used only the small flower from the Painted Peony stamp set and it is stunning in this light purple color!  I used the Rose Petal collection of inks from Altenew on these flowers. 

This last card uses one of my all time faves for creating texture, bubble wrap!!! It is so much fun to use and press down on, you have to give it a try. If you are not that familiar with Gel Press print making or want to learn more about it please check out my other Gel Press videos HERE.

Coming back from and UGLY card

Hello my stamping friends, you are my people, you share the same struggles and joys when it comes to card making. And today I need my people!  I made an ugly card!  And I left it in the video!  Because I know you understand. And, I get beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but my eyes could not see the beauty in this card. Be sure to watch today's video and see what I did to turn this card around. How I saved it and reused parts destined for the trash. And ended up with a smile on my face too.

Now let's take a closer look at the vintage inspired card I made. 

This is the card and tag I ended up with, made from the ugly card. The ugly version is in the video. The one thing going wrong in the ugly card was that the background was too busy for the large flower arrangement I was going for. To combat that I use vellum over my hand stamped background, which is a lot less busy than the first background. Also, my sentiment was too small on the first card, it did not stand out much. So I aded a Hot Foiled sentiment to this card for a sentiment that can grab your attention.  

To give my projects a vintage feel I added touches of gold. These flower stamps are layering stamps, meaning you use 2 or 3 stamps, stamping them on top of each other in different colors to get more detail and dimension. I used a golden yellow and a light golden brown for my first two layers on these flowers. For the third layer I embossed with gold. I thought that was a very fun vintage touch. 

This coordinating tag actually used the background from the UGLY card and it works here because it is a small piece. My card today is a 5" x 7" card and it was just too big and too much for my card background. 

I love that I was able to use the elements I did not love together and make something I am happy with. I hope you are inspired to do the same thing. Thanks you so much for watching and letting me share my cards with you.

Botanical Turnabout with Concord & 9th

Hey there my stamping friends. Today is my last post as a December designer for Concord & 9th. What a fun month it as been. I have been waiting for this one!  I finally am sharing with you the Botanical Turnabout stamp and die set! 

It's gorgeous, it is one of the easiest turnabouts and it is versatile!  A must have in my opinion.

Now let's take a closer look at these two cards. 

For this card I used four amazing colors from the Concord & 9th collection;  Sea Glass, Oceanside, Peacock and Dove.  This turnabout is an easy one to use because there are not a lot of precision points that need to be lined up. 

The die set that coordinates with this stamp set is pretty cool with this diamond shape that cuts out a thin diamond outline and a solid diamond shape as well. I die cut this die once from Peacock card stock and once from Vellum paper to create the diamond on this card. 

For the die cut sentiment I used Mushroom card stock. I love this dark gray!  

Now let's take a look at the 6" x 6" card that I made with this stamp set. 

For this card I used Ballet Slippers, Honey Suckle, Parsley and Wheat ink.  I love the spring like feel of these colors together. 

I also love that this background looks so good on a large 6" x 6" card and on an A2 size card. 

I had so much fun playing with this turnabout, I made several other backgrounds while I had it out and now I have a few on hand for the next time I want to make a card. You can see these background and the color combinations I used in the video.

Weekender Handbag - Designer Edition

Welcome back to another Concord & 9th feature. Today I am share two Weekender Handbags I made, inspired by photos of designer handbags that my friend sent me.

First up is the pink and brown and gold purse. I am IN LOVE with this color combination.  Which was inspired by a photo of a designer purse a friend sent me.

I stamped this purse the the Weekender Handbag stamp set and gold ink for this fun designer look. And I added an accessory with the sunglasses die cut from the Bright Eyes die set. 

The brown purse is very similar, with gold stamping, but this time on the main body of the purse using the clover like image. The XO is stamped onto the Wheat card stock with Wheat ink. 

This Weekender Handbag has a fairly large capacity.  The inside of the purse is about 4" long, 2" wide and 3" tall. I love that you can fit a decent amount of things in this purse, making it perfect for giving a small gift. Great for Valentines, a birthday, Mother's Day or any occasion that you want.

Lovely Letters Concord & 9th Feature Friday

Today I get to share with you three brand new alphabet stamp sets by Concord & 9th. 

Lovely Letters Uppercase

Little Letters

The Lovely Letters Upper and Lower Case sets are unique in that they are designed to link together when stamped. I found them easier to link together than I thought they would be. I did not even use my MISTI for the stamping of these letters. Just and old fashioned acrylic block.  I thought it would be fun to make a Valentine's card with the Bright Eyes die set too. 

The design of these letters is such that you do not have to stamp them with perfection to get good results. But how fun to create a card with a completely customized sentiment like this. I used all three of the new alphabet stamp sets on this card. I really love adding the hashtag at the bottom. With that set, Little Letters, there are doubles of popular letters so you can spell out a word and stamp it at one time. 

 

Did you catch my slimline card last week that I made with these glasses?  I put hearts on the lenses, but they were die cut. So I thought I would stamp on the window sheet that I put behind these glasses with White Staz On ink. The heart is from the Lovely Letters Uppercase stamp set. And check out that tag that I stamped "eyes" on, the came from the Weekender Handbag die set. It's the piece that makes the bag closure and fits the letters from the Little Letters stamp set perfectly. 

For my second card I used the Lovely Letters Lowercase set to stamp hello in the upper left corner of my background. I just love that this stamp set has several double letter images in the set for easily stamping words like Hello!   I also used the Little Letters stamp set to add the bright eyes hashtag to the bottom right of my background. Both were stamped in black ink and embossed with clear embossing powder, so they would stand out more.

I used the glasses to make a shaker element for the front of this card. I die cut black fun foam with the outline die of the glasses to give it space for the shaker elements. I love how the tiny star elements look inside.

I know these alphabet die sets are going to be a great addition to my crafting. I love the look and they are easy to stamp together.

Weekender Handbag + Bright Eyes

Hello my stamping friends, today is an exciting day!  I am sharing with you my first creation with the Weekender Handbag from Concord & 9th, designed by my friend Becky Roberts from Inking Idaho. I fell in love with the first purse die set Becky designed, the Everyday Purse. So much so that I did and entire YouTube series on it. You can see those videos right here. 

What is even more fun is that all of us that are designing for Concord & 9th this month thought we would come together and link our projects in a hop. Giving you lots of inspiration with this new die set! You can find the complete hop list at the end of this post.

I thought it would be easiest for you to see this purse go together in a video, so you can watch the making of the Weekender Handbag in the video below as well as see the Bright Eyes die set in action.

Now let's take a closer look at the Weekender Handbag Bundle and what I made with it. 

To customize this handbag I used the Gingham background stamp, inked it up with Sorbet ink and stamped that onto my already die cut handbag panels. I love the tone on tone look with this pattern. Next I stamped the XO from the coordinating stamp set over this with Mushroom ink. 

This die set has amazing embellishments included that you can use to make this purse personalized and have a bit of bling. I just love the little heart locket and coordinating key!  

And speaking of embellishing, how about accessorizing you purse?!? With a pair of matching sunglasses!  Take a look at the die set that made these glasses, Bright Eyes !

Not only did I make a pair of glasses for my purse but I made a card with this die set as well. 

And it was so much fun to make all these glasses in rainbow on a slimline card. 

For the fun background on this 8-1/2" x 3-1/2" panel I used the ink cube direct to paper in rainbow order; Honey Suckle, Butter Cup, Parsley, Aqua Sky , and Eggplant.  These are the same colors of card stock I used for the glasses themselves. 

For fun I aded a die cut heart to each lease of each pair of glasses, which is a die from the Weekender Handbag die set. I added a bit of Shimmer to the glasses with a black wink of Stella. Pretty gorgeous I think!

I am very excited about the new release at Concord & 9th!  My friend Becky Roberts has designed another die set that creates an adorable purse!  It is the Weekender Handbag. Rainbow Turnabout Episode 4

It's the last episode of my May stamp set of the month series! The Rainbow Turnabout stamps set has been so much fun to play with. 

Today I am sharing some monochromatic creations as well as turnabout layering!  

For today's cards I made monochromatic backgrounds with the Rainbow Turnabout stamp. The best card to see this in the orange card in the center. I made an all orange rainbow panel using 4 different ink pads to create the background panel. 

I made panels in reds, yellow, greens, blues and purples as well.  I then cut these in to small rectangle to use to make multicolored backgrounds. 

I then cut up my monochromatic backgrounds and pieced them back together for this background.  But I did not stop there. Once pieced back together I used the Star Turnabout stamp set over the top to emboss some stars in Gold and Silver embossing powder. And this became the background for my shaker card. 

The sentiment is from the Joy Tiles stamp and die set. 

For the second card, I used the Star Turnabout die set over the top of my background. Once I die cut this turnabout 4 times I adhered gold card stock to the back. 

To add a bit more shine to this card I embossed the "joy" sentiment in gold. 

The puffy heart is one I had on hand left over from a Valentine kit I got years ago. I thought I was so fun for the dot on the "j". 

For card 3 I kept it simple using an orange monochromatic background by itself. 

I love that the Joyful Tiles stamp set has two additional images to change it up, like this, turning joy into enjoy. 

I think it would be so fun to make an entire monochromatic set of rainbow cards as a gift. And they would be great to give to a friend based on their favorite color. 

There are so many fun things you can do with the Rainbow Turnabout stamp set. I hope today's episode gave you another great idea with this set and even with other turnabout sets you may already own.

Rainbow Turnabout Episode 3

Hello my stamping friends. I am excited to bring you Episode 3 of my Rainbow Turnabout series!  Today is a fun one!  We are not making rainbows!  

When my daughter first saw this stamp set she thought it was to make watermelons. So, that is where this idea was born! 

Do you see watermelons???

Let's take a look at my watermelon card. 

To create the watermelon background I first stamped my Rainbow Turnabout image one time in Twisted Citron Distress Oxide ink and embossed it with clear powder. I wanted to set this ink so that I could watercolor in the fruit part of the watermelon with out watercoloring the rind. For the watercoloring I pressed my Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide ink down on my glass mat and used a water blending brush to water color in the fruit.  When that was dry I drew in the seeds with a black journaling pen. 

The large watermelon on the front of this card was made using the Brighter Days stamp set, also from Concord & 9th.  It was designed to work with the Rainbow Turnabout background and makes for a great watermelon too! The Brighter Days die set has a die for cutting out raindrops that is perfect for my watermelon seeds!!!  I love that you can get the Brighter Days stamp and die set in a bundle for a bit of savings, thanks Concord & 9th!!! 

Now it is time for another sweet treat, the Popsicle! 

This card was a little bit easier than the last. I stamped the Rainbow Turnabout one time with the Picked Raspberry ink and then watercolored the popsicles with that same ink.  The sticks I painted on using Tea Stain Distress Oxide ink.  

The large popsicle is also from the Brighter Days set. The drips are that same raindrop die!   I think the thing that makes these popsicles POP, is the addition of the white gel pen to give them the look of shine.

Rainbow Turnabout Episode 2

In this week's episode featuring the Rainbow Turnabout stamp set from Concord & 9th I am showing you two ways to emboss this image for some fun backgrounds. I'm taking those backgrounds and making 5" x 5" cards with the Oh, Shoot! stamp set, also from Concord & 9th.

Now let's take a closer look at the cards. 

For the first card I embossed the turnabout with clear ink on white paper with clear embossing powder. Then I used Distress Oxide Inks to ink blend over this for an emboss resist background. It is such a fun background that can be used for any stamp set you'd like to pair with it. 

I chose to use the new Oh, Shoot stamp set.  Look at that fun camera!  I love it and it has an interactive option. The picture image can pull in and out of the camera, I die, it is so cute!  

The die cut smile is also from the Oh, Shoot! die set. Doesn't it look good in glitter paper!  The addition of the large gems remind me of the old time flash cubes. 

CARD TWO

For this background I actually made 5 backgrounds, doing an entire 6"x 6" panel of each color. Stamping each with clear ink, clear powder and embossing it. The raised up shiny rainbows are so cool.  Then I cut them into 1" strips to make the background for this 5" x 5" card. 

I colored the camera the same and did an assortment of stamped instant picture images around the card, including one mini shaker. Which was easy to make the with coordinating die that cuts out the center of the instant picture image.  The hearts inside are from a die in this same set and were die cut from black glitter paper.

May Stamp Set of the Month

Hello my crafty friend and welcome to Episode One of my May Stamp Set of the Month Series. 

This month I am featuring the Rainbow Turnabout stamp set by Concord & 9th.  I am a huge turnabout fan. A background stamp that you can stamp in multiple colors, it's just awesome!  So, when they came out with a rainbow turnabout, I was giddy!  

Episode One is Bright vs. Pastel!  I love bright colors so I knew I would be inking this goody up with the brightest I have, but I thought it would also look good in pastels.  So, I am doing both!  Brights VS Pastels!  Who will win?  You be the judge.

The is the first of the bright cards.  I used Altenew inks for all my stamping. They sell their inks in sets of four colors that are the same, like 4 reds that range in shades. I love that, it's great for stamp layering and turnabout stamping too. Because for my pastel card I took the lightest shades of the same bright inks I used for this card! 

Also, on each of the cards, I incorporated the Sew Happy die set from Concord & 9th and added stitched elements. Like this hello in rainbow colors. 

The thread I used is also from Concord & 9th, the kit they have has great colors in it! 

Here is the first pastel card. 

Loving how the pastel came out, more than I thought I would. It's just so happy! 

Love how the stitched diamond looks on this card, the perfect frame for the tiny sentiment. All the sentiments I used are from the Rainbow Turnabout set. 

Next up is the second bright card. 

For this card I switched up my inks a little bit. I skipped orange and used a teal color.  I love how it turned out!  I like that the teal in the rainbow matches the teal clouds. It really helps to tie it all together. 

I am so in love with this hello with the ombre effect, using 3 different threads from the Concord & 9th pack. 

Next us we have our last card and the second pastel card. 

For this card I used thread I had on hand as it more closely matched this fun colors in this background. 

Each of these cards has their own look and feel with the different colors. Do you have a favorite?  I love them all and had such a fun time making them. I even got my daughter stitching!

Everyday Purse Cards

It's already time for Episode 4 of my Everyday Purse series!  For today's episode I am showing you how to make cards with the Everyday Purse Builder die set. 

First, I have some purse shaped cards. Then I have a card with a purse on it. But this is a special card because the purse has a surprise on the inside. 

Take a look at all three of the cards I made in this episode and then we will talk about each of them. 

I love that this die is so versatile. I can make a purse to put a present in, or easily alter it to create a card. 

For this first purse shaped card I die cut two purse pieces and cut the flap off one and all but 1/4" of the flap of the other. This created a hinge to adhere the two pieces together. Using this technique is great if you are using patterned paper that has a directional design on it. 

When opened this purse has a die cut circle to add a sentiment and personalize message on, as well as a gift card. 

For this purse, I folded a piece of printed paper in half and die cut the purse so that the edge of the die was just below the fold. Ran it though my die cutting machine. Then I had a purse card that is one piece. This is so easy and all I needed to do was then decorate it.  But if you have a print on your paper that goes one direction you will want to use the first method for creating your purse card. 

This patterned paper is very simple on this inside, it could be written on or I may still add a die cut when I am ready to give it away. 

This card is so much fun. I added a pocket to the front of this card, when you open it, you can see money inside. 

There is a window sheet covering this opening, so the recipient has to get the money from the inside of the card. 

The rip strip die set from My Favorite Things is the perfect thing to use on this card. If you do not have this die you can always leave the pocket open, don't use the window sheet and the money could be removed there.

Altered Everyday Purse

Hello my crafty friends!  Today is episode 3 of my Everyday Purse series. 

Today I am going to be altering the purses. Making the purse wider, or thiner and able to accommodate items that are longer than the purse. 

Here you can see both the wider version and the thinner version. 

You are going to want to watch the video to see how it's done. You are going to love how easy it is! 

 

 

 

 

To alter the purse only takes a few easy steps. For either widening the purse or making it more narrow, you are going to want to cut off the side flaps. 

You can see here that the chocolate I used is hanging out the sides of the purse. Removing the side pieces allows you to accommodate larger sized objects. 

The chocolate I used is also wider than this purse. So, when adhering the bottom flaps of this purse together I widen the base by not completely overlapping the base flaps. This widened the base about 1/4"- 1/2". You can change the width of your purse by measuring the item you want it to hold and then adhere the base flaps together with the added width you need. 

And can we talk about the pattern on this wider purse!!! I am in love with it. I used the To The Point Turnabout stamp set to create it. If you are not familiar with turnabout stamps, you are in for a treat. Imagine being able to stamp and background stamp in multiple colors, quickly and easily creating your own printed paper!  That is what turnabout stamps do!  This unique method and design of turnabout stamps allows you to take one image stamp it in one color, turn your paper stamp it in another color, for a total of four turns and four colors!  I am in love with them!  And with the To The Point turnabout you can actually put down 8 colors on your stamped panel!!! I'll show you how in the video that goes with this blog post. 

Take a look at the thinner Everyday purse. 

This purse is great for using up your printed papers. I decided to do some pattern mixing on this one for a fun look. And since the candy I wanted to put in this purse was thin, I needed to make this purse fit it, so there was not too much room around the candy bar. 

To make this purse thiner I just cut the bottom flaps of the purse down to about 1/2". With the sides already removed, this makes the purse the perfect size for this thin candy bar. 

This purses will make a great little gift, or add a gift card inside to take it up a notch. I also love the idea of these purses being party favors. Which makes me want to throw a party just so these can be the party favors!

Everyday Purse Leather Clutch

Hey there stamping friends, I am back with Episode 2 of my February Stamp Set of the Month series. This month's featured set is the Everyday Purse bundle from Concord & 9th, a collaboration set with my friend, Becky Roberts of Inking Idaho. I am in love with this die set and am excited to be sharing new ideas with this bundle for you each week. 

This week, I wanted to use some specialty papers by Tonic for a leather look for my purses. And I decided to turn them into clutches. 

The paper that I used to make these clutches is from Tonic's Specialty paper line. The red purse is die cut from the Red Berries paper and the silver from Pewter Slates. Both of these papers are Hand Crafted Cotton Papers. They are very soft and delicate. So when using this paper for these purses be sure to treat them with care. Because the end result is stunning! 

Because this paper is delicate it gave me the idea to line it with patterned paper.  You can get a glimpse of it the picture above and see it being made in the video below. 

For the red purse, I used some fun black and white patterned paper that I had in my stash for the liner. 

Also, the liner helps hid the end of the clutch handle. 

The tassels on both purses were made with the Playful Lightweight Paper pack that Concord & 9th carries. With 10 colors in this pack it is easy to find one that will coordinate with your project. But if not, one of the colors is white, so you can always add ink to that one so that it matches your project exactly.

Everyday Purse Builder Die Set

Hello my stamping friends!  Today I am here with Episode 1 of my February Stamp Set of the Month series. Which is actually more like at Die and Stamp Set series.  This month I am featuring the Everyday Purse builder die set and coordinating stamp set. I love it when a die set gets a coordinating stamp set instead of the other way around. And this die set deserves a coordinating stamp set cause it is soooooo good. 

Concord & 9th collaborated with Becky Roberts of Inking Idaho to bring us this die set. My friend Becky designed this purse several years ago as a printable pattern and now has brought it to use in the form of a die set, I am so thrilled for her to have accomplished this goal. AND, I am so excited to have the die set, because of the recent computer crash at my house I lost my PDF of this purse. Plus, die cutting it is so much easier! 

For Episode 1 I wanted to use my Concord & 9th background stamps give pattern to my purses. 

The plaid purse gets it's pattern from the Gingham background stamp and the second purse get's it's dots from the Polka Dot Turnabout background stamp.  

Look at all the fun details on each of these purses, all are die cut using dies from this 17 piece die set. 

This finished purse is big enough to hold a gift card and wide enough to put some candy in with it. 

I am in love with the pink and gray purse. I love that this gingham stamp set has two images so you can use the gingham on it's own or with this stitched detail image. 

For the Polka Dot purse, I was able to get the multiple colors by using the Polka Dot turnabout stamp set. I use the Rose Petals ink collections by Altenew. 

These purses make the perfect little gift to give a friend. Think Galentine's day, party favors, birthday gift with a gift card in it, Mother's Day, teacher gifts, neighbor gifts, a little something for your favorite beauty stylist, an no occasion gift for your bestie. The list goes on and on. You can see the making of these purses in my video below.

Fast Fringe

Hey there, it's Tuesday, that means time for another stamp set of the month share. Today I have Episode 4 in my Fringe Frenzy series! 

Today is jam pack with cool things! 

First up I have 3 tips to help you fringe FAST!

Second I have a hidden gift card pocket on the front of my card.

Third we are decorating the front of a gift bag with the card in a clear pocket.

You are going to want to check out the video for this one for sure. AND, when you do make sure you leave a comment over on my YouTube channel for a chance to win this project!

First let's talk about Fringe.

There is a lot of fringe on this card. But I have 3 tips on how you can fringe faster!

1. Use the Playful Lightweight paper from Concord & 9th and the Fringe Frenzy die set. Stack two layers of paper and die cut them at once. Since this paper is lightweight you can easily die cut two strips of fringe at once. That cuts your die cutting time in HALF!
2. If you are not going to die cut your fringe, use a tape runner that rolls easily and is strong. This is faster than using a double stick tape. NOTE: I do not recommend this if you will be die cutting your fringed piece.
3. Line up your fringe by lining up the bottom of the fringe with the top of the fringe on the piece you previously stuck down. The fringe frenzy kit does have a spacing guide. But if you are doing a piece like I did here and precision is not key this method is quick and easy. And works if you misplace or forget your guide.

I hope you found these tips helpful and know that you can make quick fringe for your projects.

Now let's check out the hidden gift card on the front of this card.

It's simple. The fringed panel (4-1/4" x 4-1/4") is a pocket. I adhered it to the front of the card with foam tape on three sides, leaving the top open. The insert that holds the gift card is 3-3/4" x 3-1/2". You will want your insert to fit the size of the pocket.  Measure the opening after applying foam tape to know how big to cut your insert.

Since this card ended up being taller than your standard A2 card I needed a creative solution to put this card into.

Take a look at the Gift Bag with Clear Card Pocket.

I modified a Card Cello Bag from Spellbinders/FSJ by cutting the top flap off and die cutting a notch in the top of the cello. It makes the perfect pocket for my card!

AND, it decorates this plain green gift bag that I repurposed very nicely.

I adhered a piece of Sweet Berry card stock that measured 6-1/4" x 4-3/4" to the green gift bag, covering up the previous decoration. This made a nice sturdy spot to adhere the cello bag too.

To give the cello bag some interest I stamped some images from the Toucan Paradise stamp set with White Staz On ink. I love how it looks.

Now I have an envelope that is a gift bag, it's like a two for one!

Really a three for one, because of the hidden gift card pocket!

She's Wonderful

Hello there my stamping friends!

Today's post is about two of my favorite things.

1. Background stamps! I have a weakness for background stamps!  Especially if they are woodgrain, polkadot or any kind of plaid. And I love all variations of staple images; stripes, dots, hearts, stars, script, etc. I LOVE them all really. So turnabout background stamps are just about the coolest thing!  A background stamp that you can easily make multicolored!  If you have not done turnabout stamping before, stay tuned I am featuring it in this post and video. Specifically the Star Turnabout stamp set and coordinating die by Concord & 9th.

2. My second favorite thing I am featuring today, WONDER WOMAN!  A friend of mine came over the a load of stamp sets that I do not have and we had fun stamping, but that was it. I never actually got a card made.  One of the stamp sets that she brought was the She's Wonderful stamp set by Kindred Stamps. It's a super hero woman image that you can make look like Wonder Woman!!! And she has been my fave since I can remember! Since this....
But I do love the new Wonder Woman too!

So, let's get into these star background Wonder Woman inspired cards!

Such a cute image right!!!

You can see the stars in the background are stamped with 3 different colors and there are some die cut as well. Behind this panel I put a layer of Gold paper. So when you turn this card the gold shines through.

I also LOVE the sentiments in this stamp set, "fight like a girl". So many occasions could be made better with this sentiment on a card for a friend!

I colored the image in with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. You can see the making of this card in the video below.

Let's not forget about the inside of this card. 

This panel uses only the outside portion of the Star Turnabout stamp set. And features another great sentiment from the She's Wonderful stamp set.

Now card 2 with an ink blended background with the Star Turnabout on top.

Similar to the first card but with it's own special touches.  You can see how I got the star background on this card in the video below. Here are the four mediums I used to stamp the background; water, white pigment ink, salty ocean distress oxide ink, and clear pigment ink with gold embossing powder. I love that this background is more subtle with a pop of gold.

I did not forget about the inside of this card.

This background was created by using just the inner portion of the Star Turnabout stamp set.

Fringe Frenzy - Episode 3

Hey there stamping friends, I am back with another Fringe Frenzy episode!

In Episode 3 I am using the Pinata Party stamp and die set again, to create a unicorn. I am also showing you how to make scalloped fringe with the Fringe Frenzy Kit. And, if you are in a rush and want a fringed look you can stamp faux fringe with the Pinata Party stamp set.

Each week in this series I am making a card and something cute to go with it. This time the something cute came first and the card was inspired by the gift box.

The gift box is the Gable Favor die from Spellbinders/FSJ. You can create this box with just one piece of 8-1/2" x 11"piece of paper!

I made the scalloped rainbow fringe for the background using the Fringe Frenzy die cut. To make scalloped fringe you will use two dies from the Fringe Frenzy die set. First, die cut the fringe piece from the lightweight paper that comes in the kit. Then, lay the scallop die on the fringed edge of this strip and die cut it again, giving your fringe a scalloped edge. I love it! 

The clouds are a great example of how you can use the dies you already have to create fringed elements.

The unicorn is die cut from glittered card stock, but you can make a fringed unicorn too! All the elements to finish this unicorn off are die cut with dies from the Pinata Party stamp set. I love that you can make a pinata or unicorn with this die set!

Now let's take a look at the coordinating gift card with hand made envelope.

I knew I wanted to make a mini shaker card, which would mean I would have very little of my fringe showing up on the frame if that is they way I went with the card. So, instead I used the fringe stamp from the Pinata Party stamp set for the background of my card.  This gave me the look I wanted and was quick and easy. I use that same stamp on my envelope. Playing with the Fringe Frenzy kit so much I realized that the lightweight paper was perfect for creating envelopes. And at 6" x 6" the perfect size for a 3-1/2" x 3-1/2" card.

I filled my shaker card with Diamond Dust, it is clear glass product similar to chunky glitter, but it actual cut glass so it has some weight to it. I love how it moves around in a shaker card.  The stamped and die cut sentiment are from the Fringe Frenzy Kit, it's so nice that this set has a banner die to cut out the long sentiments and I don't have to hunt for another die set to do this!  The ink colors I used for my faux fringe are all form Altenew, I linked all the colors for you below.

Fringe Frenzy - Episode 2

Hey there stamping friends. I know I am a day late in getting this out to you but, the old computer had other plans, so here we are on Wednesday with Episode 2 of Fringe Frenzy!

Today I am bringing you two more ideas with the Concord & 9th kit, Fringe Frenzy. This kit has a stamp set, a die set and specialty paper for die cutting fringe.  Today I am also bring1ing in the Pinata Party stamp and die set. A coordinating bundle that is great fringed! 

See, how perfect is a fringed pinata!!! And the sentiment, it's what's on the inside that counts!!! I adore this!

I use the Warm and Cozy Altenew ink set to color my fringe for this ombre look on the pinata as well as the background of streamers.

Here are a few fringe tips I have for using this kit.

1. When fringing a piece that you want to then die cut there are a few key things you must do. First, the paper that you die cut the fringe from should be light weight, like the paper that comes in the Fringe Frenzy Kit. Second, when putting double stick tape on the back of your fringed pieces, the tape should be half way on the fringe and half way off the fringe. This will help your fringe to stay in place when you die cut your shape.  IF your fringe still falls all you can do card surgery to glue them back into place. You can see me do this in today's video. Third, the paper that you are adhering your fringe too should also be light weight. Your die will be cutting through two layers of paper and the double stick tape you used. I will sometimes use a light weight card stock for my second layer. You can always back your die cut fringed piece with another die cut from heavy card stock to make it more sturdy if you want. 
2. When custom coloring your fringe a make up style brush works great on the light weight paper. You can color the paper before or after it has been fringed. So when you have scraps of white fringe ink them up with the color of your choice.
3. Fringe makes great little accents too. In last week's video I used a scrap of fringe to go inside a gift bag. This week I used a scrap to make a tassel. Watch the video to see how easy this is.

I used a couple of the other images from the Pinata Party stamp set for the inside of the card.  And before I put it in the envelope I added a surprise.

This is the Slice Fetti from FSJ. I wanted all this to fall out as the card is opened, just like goodies spill out of a pinata.

For each episode using Fringe Frenzy I am making something to go with the card. This week it is a shaker gift tag.

The journey of this tag!  It had some issues, like surgery, markers to the rescue and brightening with silk.  You'll have to watch the video below to see all these turns that this tag took before it got here. I toyed with leaving the fringe flat like this, but decided to ruffle it up in the end.

Ruffling up the fringe give it more of a true pinata look. And check out those cute tassels accenting the top of the tag. They are so easy to make from the die cut fringe!  You really just roll them up, I will show you how in the video below.

The tag itself is from the Special Day Tag die set by FSJ. It's a die set I use repeatedly.

Fringe Frenzy - Episode 1

Hey there stamping friends. I hope you had a great Labor Day weekend!  Mine was mostly good. Time with friends was great, but a sick kiddo, not so much.

I am happy to be welcoming September right now. I think I am looking forward to fall. I love this season. But it always seems so short and then my least fave, winter. Good thing I have something I love to do inside, right! 

Also, being the start of a new month means I am introducing my new stamp set of the month. This month my stamp set of the month is a bundle of stamps, dies and paper. It's the Fringe Frenzy kit by Concord & 9th. It has all the things, fun images, sentiments, coordinating dies, colorful papers. The awesome part is that there is a die that cuts the light weight colorful paper into fringe!  I have so many fun ideas to share with you this month. So tune in ever Tuesday this month for an new post, new video and new ideas!

This month I will be making a card and a little something to go with it. ALL WITH FRINGE, yay!

This is a birthday ensemble. A card and a frame piece that would be great gift. I also think this framed piece would be great to set out when it's one of your family members birthday's. Like at the breakfast table or in their room to wake up to. Just a little something to make the day a bit more special.This frame is double sided. You can see the backside below.

I used fringe in three ways in these projects.

First I did a peek through window with the fringe behind to create the cake on the card.

Did you notice the background?  I used the Sprinkles turnabout stamp to create this background, only using two colors of ink, white and Velvet by Altenew.

I also did some simple coloring with Copic Markers.

Candles: R35, RV14, Y00

Cake Stand: B00, B02

Second I fringed a piece of paper and then die cut it with the YAY die.

I stamped another Sprinkle background to go inside this Ikea Tolsby frame.  The stamped cake and sentiments are on outside of the frame, adhered to a window sheet that comes with the frame.  The cake is colored in with the same Copic markers I used on the card (listed above). I love that I can fringe a cake or stamp and color one too!

Third I used a piece of fringe for the tissue paper in the gift bag, on the back side of the frame.

You use the same stamp for the cake and the gift bag. Then you stamp the other images in the set to turn it either into a bag or a cake. I also used the streamer stamp to decorate my gift bag. I colored them in with my copics and then outlined it with a Stardust Gelly Roll pen.

The CUTE tag and bow were die cut with the Fringe Frenzy Die set. And the heart stamped on the tag is from the Fringe Frenzy stamp set. I really is a versatile stamp set. I used the largest sentiment on this side of the frame and inked it with Velvet ink on the top and Coral Berry on the bottom to get an ombre look.

And those super cute hearts area Red Hots from Honey Bee Stamps.I am in LOVE with them.
