Spellbinders Club Kits for February

Happy February!  A new month means it is also time for new Club Kits from Spellbinders. 

Today I am sharing the Large Die of the Month and the Glimmer Hot Foil kit of the Month. 
I have a video for each of these kits so you can get a close up look at them in action. 

So first up let's look at the Large Die of the Month, this is a set of 14 Dies. It is the Birthday Wishes For Everyone Die Set. I love the chunky numbers in this set. You can use it to make cards that say "Happy 50th", or any number inserted there. 

I thought it would be fun to make a valentines day card with this set, using the numbers 24/7. So let's take a look at this die set in action and see the card I made. 

Did you love seeing me make my own glitter paper for this card. It was only a little messy but I love how it turned out and that I did not have to use a 8-1/2" x 3-1/2" piece of glitter paper to back my heart panel. 

Here's a good look at my 24/7 slimline card. 

I added some stamping to the numbers using the Lots of Love mini background stamp. I love the look of the heart embossed with clear powder on these chunky numbers.

The background of this card is made using the Slimline Kaleidoscope Heart die set, which was the Large Die of the Month kit for January 2021, it may be come available for purchase from the Spellbinders shop in the next mont or so. 

The letters I used to spell out "love you" are also a previous Large Die of the Month kit, How Does Your Garden Grow Alphabet. They are available for purchase now in the Spellbinders shop. 

To make my own glitter paper to back the slimline Kaleidoscope heart die cut panel. I use a White Liner Sheet. It is double stick adhesive sheets that at 8-1/2" x 11". I cut a piece to 8-1/2" 3-1/2" and backed my die cut panel with it. Then I sprinkled glitter on to that and used my finger to rub it into the adhesive. Then I removed the backing to the white liner sheet and backed it with a piece of white card stock. It took a lot less glitter than you would think to cover this. And I am glad I did not have to use such a big piece of glitter paper. 

 

GLIMMER HOT FOIL KIT OF THE MONTH

Now let's take a look at the Glimmer Hot Foil kit of the Month. This months kit is called Scalloped Rectangle Glimmer Essentials with Sentiments. There are 9 plates in this set and no dies. In this kit a roll of Aura foil is included. That is one of my all time favorite foil colors! It is gold with an iridescent finish. 

Look at those 6 layering rectangle with a scalloped edge. These are so pretty when foiled, you are going to love them!

Take a closer look at the shaker card I made with this Glimmer Hot Foil set. 

I love the frames foiled with the Aura foil on pink card stock. 

And I also love that Aura foil looks good on all card stock colors as you can see my sentiment foiled on a light yellow card stock. 

The stamped images I used for this card are from the Sweet Life Stamp set, right now this Stamp and Die set bundle are on sale a Spellbinders. 

The background of this card was made using shaving cream. You can see how I make a shaving cream background in this video.

I also made a shaker gift tag to go with this card using the second to smallest plate in this set. 

For the background on this tag I used a plate that is retired that looks like a waffle cone pattern. I have linked some paper below that look like waffle cone that would make a perfect substitution for this.

Favorite 2023 Club Kits Hop

Hello there, thank you for stopping by. Today, I am hopping along with Spellbinders and several of my fellow designers. We are creating with our favorites things from the 2023 Club Kits!  

The club kits from Spellbinders are so well done, it was very hard for me to choose favorites. If you are new to the Spellbinders Club Kit program get all the details about it HERE.

I chose four different club kits for my card today; Large Die of the Month for July 2023 - Stocking Full of Joy, Clear Stamp of the Month for October 2023 - Festive Penguins, 3D Embossing Folder of the Month for July 2023 - Adorning the Tree, and Wax Seal of the Month for October 2023 - Merry Christmas To You. So, I guess that means October 2023 was my favorite month of kits! Let's take a look at the card I made. 

I really wanted to use this image of the stacked up penguins and had yet to do so, and that is where this card began. If you'd like to see the first card I made with this darling penguin set you can catch that one HERE.

I also wanted to use one of the backgrounds I made for my video 13 MORE Ways to use 3D Embossing Folder.  And that is where the background for this card came from. So if you like inky techniques and ideas for 3D Embossing folders make sure you check out that video, RIGHT HERE.

I was very excited that Spellbinders added a Wax Seal Kit of the Month, I have so much fun making these!!!  So I knew I wanted to include one on my card today. 

But one of my most FAVORITE kits is the Stocking Full of Joy Large Die of the Month. I have TWO video's featuring this die set. I have made two other cards and a tag. Watch those videos here; July 2023 Club Kits Video and Light Up Shaker Card with Stocking Full of Joy.

The greenery and candy cans on this card are from the Stocking Full of Joy die set. I LOVE how those candy canes turned out. I die cut the candy canes from white card stock, colored them with Copic Markers, added white gel pen touches and then covered them with Glaze. The red and pink candy cane I actually colored on the backside of the candy cane, so I had one facing the opposite direction. 

And now it is time to enjoy this hop. I personally can not WAIT to see what my fellow designers have created, there is a lot of talent in this group!

Light Up Shaker Card - Spellbinders July Club Kit Blog Hop

Hello there!  I have been having so much fun with Christmas in July, especially with the club kits from Spellbinders.

And today we are celebrating these fun Christmas themed kits with a hop and giveaway!  All the hop details are below. 

For this hop I really wanted to make a shaker card with the stocking from the Large Die of the Month, Stocking Full of Joy. The only issue I had is that the die that cuts out the stocking, also cuts out the hanger for stocking, separately, which means I can not get an opening on my card that is just stocking shaped. So, I came up with a little work around. And was able to make a shaker card.

The idea to make this card a light up came from using the new World's Best Foam Tape from Pear Blossom Press. It is designed to work with the EZ Lights that are also from Pear Blossom Press, so I set out to incorporate lights into this shaker card. I am so glad that I did, I love the light up holly garland!!! 

If you have never used EZ Lights, the name does not lie, they are indeed the easiest light to add to cards!  And I show you how in the video. 

The background on this card was created with the 3D Embossing Folder of the Month, Adorning the Trees. I used Distress Oxide Sprays on the Folder its self for this look. You can see how and 12 other ideas with 3D Embossing Folder in THIS VIDEO.

For my sentiment I used the Glimmer Kit of the Month, Glimmering Christmas Flora and white foil on red card stock. I love that this set has dies to cut them out and how it cuts them out so closely.

March Club Kits From Spellbinders - A mash up!

The March Club Kits from Spellbinders are HERE!  

It's no secret that I love how well all the club kits work together! And this month is no exception. For this card I used the Large Die of the Month, 3D Embossing Folder of the Month and the Clear Stamp and Die of the month. If you are not familiar with the Spellbinders Club Kits, you can check them out HERE.

I think it is so cool that the Large Die of the Month has a fun fold die in it to make a "stair step" style card that I can used with so many of the things in my stash!

There are so many fun ways you could dress up this tree, seasonal trees would be so much fun. And this tree also looks great on a traditional card. Spellbinders always makes sure their dies have versatility! 

Can you spot the 3D Embossing on this card? That is the Spring Burst 3D Folder, which just means that is gives a very deep and detailed impression/ it's gorgeous! How about the stamping?  Okay, in this picture you can only see a stamped sentiment, but on the back of the card I used one of the very cool stamps, that is a layering set! A week of the Crafty Advent Calendar

DAY ONE

Behind door one in the advent calendar was a cute little mail box die set. I die cut three, since it is such an easy die to layer up. I added it to a mini slimline card. I love the added detail of that little envelope!

DAY TWO

A darling little floral stamp set is what I found behind door 2!  These stamps are designed to be stamped next to each other, allowing you to create a floral arrangement of your choosing. Once I stamped mine I cut it out and added to this mini slimline card. The sentiment is also from this stamp set.

This little border die set for Day 3 is so versatile and can coordinate with so many things I already have. I wanted to really show it off on this little note card though. So, I die cut it from a rainbow of card stock and made it the star of the show with added glitter in the form of Diamond Stickles.

DAY FOUR

I love this Happy Birthday die set from Day 4, It'll be a go to die set for me now. I die cut it from some Gold Mirror stock so it would really shine. This was a quick and easy card with this use of some patterned paper from my stash!

DAY FIVE

I have to say I was super excited to see a mini embossing folder behind door five! I used it to make this red and white background for a Christmas card. I love this image of holly from the Halftone Holiday Stamp Set by Simon Hurley. I thought it would be a fun way to dress up this background. Of course I added a bit of sparkle, first with Sparkle Silk splattered on the backgrounds. Then I added a few Transparent Sparkle Enamel Dots to the background. And to make the berries frosted a touch of Diamond Stickles.

DAY SIX

How about something darling for day six! A little gnome die set. And you can make hit fit any occasion, I happen to be on a Christmas kick at the moment and decided to make a Happy Christmas card. This card has so much shine it does not know what to do with itself!  I did use a retired foil and cut set from Spellbinders on this card, called Ornament. The trees are from this set, they originally were pine branches. And the sentiment is from that set, which I hot foiled with red foil. The background is a Snow Flurries Distress Mica Spray Stain and Sparkle Silk. If you are not familiar with Distress Mica Spray Stains, they are seasonal and so if you can not find them online at this time they be back around next holiday season at all retailers that carry Tim Holtz Distress products. I have linked what I could find that is available right now, even if it is not the same color that I used.

DAY SEVEN

A mini stencil set for day seven was a nice surprise! I used it to make a Boken style snowy background. And then topped it off with a stitched snowflake!  If you are wondering about that red and white background paper I bought digital paper off Etsy so that I could print red and white stripped paper whenever I needed a piece, cause I love it so much!

LARGE Die of the Month - December 2022

Hey there. Let's take a close up look at Blooming Heart, the Large Die of the Month for December 2022 from Spellbinders. Beware - it's drop dead gorgeous! 

This die set has two floral dies that when die cut and placed side by side create a heart! 
I love it so much I had to make two cards. See every piece of this set and these cards come together in the video below. If you can not see the video up on your screen, you can also catch it on my YouTube channel. 

Here's a close up look at each card for you. 

Spellbinders has floral layering dies down. They have detail, whimsy and variety. I chose two shades of red and a pink for my flowers. The leaves are die cut from light green card stock. I added shading with some Copic Markers. You would not believe how easy these are to put together, and yet it has so much detail. 

What do you think about hat woodgrain background? It was done with a 3D embossing folder, Knock On Wood. I have all the things I used for these cards pictured and linked for you below, as well as all the club kits that Spellbinders has to offer. 

I did a little embossing with the dies for this card. The leaves pressed into the paper are so very cool! And to make the florals a little more special, I die cut them from some Gel Press Prints I made. 

I also love the background for this card, made using the largest heart from the Clear Stamp of the Month. 

That is also where I got the little sentiment for the front of this card.

Tiered Tray all lit up

Hello there my crafty friends. Today I am sharing two new dies set and a new stamp set from the Spellbinders shop. This new line was designed by my friend Becky Roberts. This is her second collection for Spellbinders and it is ever fun!  It is a Tiered Tray line. Dies that cut pieces to build your own Tiered Tray. An additional die set that cuts all the cute decor pieces to add to the tray. And a stamp set with fun sentiments to go with as well as a couple images to stamp on your decor pieces. I had so much fun playing with this new collection!  On my card I added a light up element and a third tier to my tray!

To light up my little house on this card I used the One Light from Pear Blossom Press. It is literally the easiest way to add a light to this little house! 

There are 19 dies in the Tiered Tray Decor die set, so many cute things I had pieces that I could not fit on my three tiers!  

So I added some to the inside of my card as well. 

I love that the Tiered Tray Sentiment set has sayings that go with the theme of the dies, and even have images like the "Home Sweet Home" that stamp perfectly on the die cut stack of books!

CHRISTMAS CARD MAKING - Magical Deer

Hello my crafty friends. I know you don't want me to say how many days there are until Christmas, so I wont. But my 14 year old daughter keeps telling me. Which is why I am feeling okay about starting my Christmas card when Pumpkin Spice season just started! Plus, Spellbinders asked me if I would like to create with the new Magical Deer die set. It is soooo pretty I decided, DEFINATELY!  

This die set makes a beautiful deer with a Nordic feel. And, as with all Spellbinders die sets, there is so much attention to detail in this set.

Here's a closer look at each of these projects. 

I really wanted to make a white deer. They are rare, but do exist. I have seen one once in captivity. But also, with paper and dies you get to choose how you make your deer. All the white accents on this deer; the horns, hooves, fur, etc. are die cut with white glitter paper for a bit of contrast and shimmer. 

I adore all things woodgrain, so I used the 3D embossing folder, Knock on Wood for my background. For the look of snow I splattered on top of this with Picket Fence Distress paint. 

To complete the card I added a hot foiled sentiment and some clay snowflakes. 

I did not want to stop there because I wanted to make my deer in another color combination. So, staying with the color combo on the card I set to making a coordinating tag. 

This deer is magical no matter what color you choose to create him in. I love the pops of red mirror paper with the browns. One of the things I love most about this deer are the closed eyes, it's just simple and gives him a majestic look. 

You can see I used the Knock on Wood 3D embossing folder in the background again, but with Sparkle Silk as the snow this time. 

I added the same hot foiled sentiment, but on Waterfall card stock. I love how the red foil looks on this colored card stock. 

Even though I am making pumpkin muffins at my house, the Christmas card season is underway!

July Club Kit Hop with Spellbinders

Hey there my stamping friends. Today I am featuring four of the July 2022 club kits by Spellbinders in a HOP!  

There are several designers participating in this hop to bring you a lot of inspiration using the July Club Kits that Spellbinders has to offer. All stops on the hop are listed below. The Club kit I am focusing on today is the Have A Chill Summer Clear Stamp Monthly Kit. It has a solid popsicle image in the set. And I am going to show you 3 fun ways you can ink up this popsicle. I am also incorporating 3 other money club kits for July; the Embossing Folder, Large Die of the Month and the Glimmer Kit.

Here is a look at the three cards I am going to show you how to create today. Below you can see how I inked up each popsicle and how I put these cards together in this video. If you can not see the video on your screen, you can also view it on my YouTube channel.

Now let's take a close up look at each of these cards. 

I just love the little strawberry in this set! And I love strawberry popsicles too! I made these popsicles ombre by inking them up with three different ink pads. 

They got a bit of sparkly splatter after that. 

I think LIME popsicles are my FAVE, so I had to make a card featuring them. I did the KISSING technique for these yummy popsicles. You ink the solid popsicle with a light color of ink and then ink the lime stamp with a darker color of ink and stamp it right on to the popsicle stamp. Then you can stamp this down on to your paper. What a fun technique! 

The background on this card was made using the Embossing Folder for July, Geometric Stripes, it's a very versatile pattern and I love it with this card.

Last but not least I had to make a popsicle food truck. I just love the July Large die of the Month, what a fun idea to make different food trucks! And this popsicle works great on top! 

This grape popsicle got its cool color with the help of sprays! I love the flecks of grape goodness it adds! And in the background of this card I used the Glimmer Kit of the Month to add those amazing stripes.

Spellbinders May Club Kits Hop

Hello sweet friends! Today I am hoping along with some of my fellow Spellbinders designers, celebrating the May Club Kits! 

Every month Spellbinders goes out of their way to make sure the club kits are amazing. And this month is no exception. The attention to detail in the kits is outstanding and gives the maker so many options when creating. 

One of my favorite things about the club kits is that they can easily be used together and are fabulous enough to stand on their own. 

For my project today I am going to be using 4 of the club kits; Large Die of the Month, Glimmer Kit of the Month, Embossing Folder of the Month, and the Clear Stamp and Die of the Month. 

All of these kits have something to do with stitching, but then again, you can use them without stitching! 

This card has so many fun things on it. Gel Press Print, stitching, hot foiling...

I think my favorite part of this card is the background. I used the Faux Stitched Embossing folder to embossed a Gel Press print. I was then able use a sanding block to sand off the top layer of paint. I LOVE the how it turned out. 

The THANK YOU on this card is from the Large Die of the Month. There are several words that you can put with the large and stitchable "you". If you are feeling like stitching, this die cut also looks great with out. 

The sub sentiment that I hot foiled on my card, celebreate you today, is from the Glimmer Kit of the Month. This month's glimmer kit, Stitched Glimmer Butterflies, is the most versatile kit! There are two different butterflies you can make in this kit. I used the half butterfly, there is also a full butterfly. And you have so many options for dressing up their wings. You can hot foil the wings, stitch the wings, add a layer to the wings, make a window in the wings. I made a window into my wings. And in this months kit there are 4 sentiments that you can hot foil. One of which says, You give me butterflies! 

I used the clear stamp of the month on the back of the card. There is a sentiment in that stamp set that says Stitched with Love, I thought it was a fun addition to the back of the card.

Hot Foiling on Colored Card Stock

Hey there stamping friends. Today I have some great ideas for you! If you have ever tried to hot foil on colored card stock you may have run into some issues. Today's video is going to give you several things to try to get good results with colored card stock. And I am showcasing the Glimmer Kit of the Month from Spellbinders! It's a perfect set to use with colored card stock. 

In this video not only can you see the making of this card, but you are going to get so many helpful things to try when hot foiling, so that you can have gorgeous results. I love hot foiling on colored card stock because it gives me so many different looks with just one roll of foil. What's my favorite foil color you ask??? I love the Aura foil because it has an iridescent finish to it. And it looks great on all colors of card stock as you will see in my video today.

Here is my list of things to try when coloring on colored card stock. Take these ideas and give them a try with the colored card stock you have on hand. You may not need to do all of these. The key is to practice, find what works for you. Don't give up on colored card stock. These tips are further explained and shown in action in the video above. 

The reason why I love this months kit for foiling on colored card stock is because the die set cuts the images out right on the line. So, there is no border left behind. It's perfect for this rainbow of flowers, and there's no colored edge showing, just the Aura foil! 

To fit all my flowers on this card I made an A7 sized card, 5" x 7". I love this size card, it is so much fun to give a bigger sized card. I remember my sister asking me a while back why I only made small cards (A2 sized). Since then I haven tried to make different sized cards, maybe that is part of the reason I love A7's and Slimlines.

Love Notes with the Glimmer Kit of the Month

Hello there my stamping friends. I am back with another Glimmer Hot Foiling video for you. Today I am sharing the Glimmer Club Kit of the Month from Spellbinders called; Love Enclosed. This set comes with 7 Hot Foil Plates, 6 Coordinating Dies and a roll of Red Hot Foil. I am going to show you a few different tips and techniques as I make 5 loves notes with this set. And I will throw in a few other club kits, as they coordinate so nicely together!

Now let's take a look at each of the 5 note cards I made. 

Each of the love notes I made in this collection are sized 3" x 3". Knowing that helps you get a reference for the size of the heart in this set. Which, by the way, is the exact same heart as in the Clear Stamp of the Month and the Large Die of the Month. That means, they are easily mix and matchable! In fact, I used the clear stamp of the month, One Love, One Heart, to stamp behind my hot foiled sentiment. And, I used the Large Die of the Month to create the background for this card. So, this little card is the perfect example of how the kits can be mixed and matched and used together. 

For this beautiful baby card I used the all NEW club kit, the Embossing Folder of the Month, Spreading Love! This new addition to the Spellbinders family of club kits is my new FAVE! These folders are sized 8-1/2" x 5-1/2"! That gives you so many options for embossing papers of different and unique sizes and allows you to have the pattern go either vertically or horizontally on your A2 sized cards! 

For the heart on this card I did some layered foiling. the background of beautiful florals is my favorite foil, Opal. The sentiment was hot foiled over the top of this in Brass foil. I love this look! And here you can also see the die cut floral pieces that come in this months Glimmer Kit, gorgeous! 

What a fun sentiment, I love this heart! And for the background I used the intricate floral die from the Large Die of the Month as a stencil. I used Crimson Ink from Altenew and a blending brush, keeping the ink light at the top and adding more at the bottom to darken it up for an ombre effect. Quick and easy and pretty little Love Note. 

These next two love notes are both full panel shaker cards, a great option for making a small sized card with a shaker element. Make sure to watch the video to see how easy these cards are to make with a bit of packaging cellophane. This shaker contains micro beads, which make the best sound. It's like the paper version of a rain stick. The rest of this card is very simple with standard hot foiling, the heart in red and the sentiment in brass. And a bit of twine to top it off. 

My second full panel shaker card has a stamped background using small florals from the Clear Stamp of the Month; One Love, One Heart. These red confetti pieces are the perfect size and shape for a full panel shaker! A full panel shaker does not have as much room for shaker elements that are thick. The glimmer hot foil was added over the top of the shaker panel with foam squares. 

Also in this video I show you how you can use the Spellbinders Score Board to create custom envelopes for these love notes. Did you know that their score board comes with a attachment to create envelopes? It's pretty cool!

January 2022 Large Die of the Month

Hello my stamping friends. Today I am sharing the Large Die of the Month from Spellbinders. It is the Pocket Full of Love Die set, a set of 10 dies. If you are not familiar with the kits of the Month from Spellbinders, you can find out more about them right here.  Basically, Spellbinders has several different kinds of kits that you can sign up for and they will be delivered to your door each month. Like the Large Die of the Month. There is also a Small Die of the Month, Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month, Card Kit, Clear Stamp of the Month kit, and ALL NEW.... the Embossing Folder of the Month!  I'll show you a couple of these other kits in my video for the Large Die, as these kits often coordinate together!

Now that you have watched the video, here are pictures of the card up close for you to check out and a supply list of all the things I used as well. 

Look at the intricate design of these die cuts!  WOW! I am so in love with that pattern. 

I die cut the top layer of my pocket from some copper paper, I just love the contrast of it with the bold dark pink pocket. And this die set has additional dies that you can use to cut out portions of the focal flower. That means you are able to easily paper piece that focal flower with different colors, making it really stand out. 

This die set not only creates a beautiful pocket but carries over the fabulous design to the pull out piece as well. Being that this set has 10 dies and the pieces are separate there are many different configurations you can do with these pieces. I made my pocket on an A7 sized card (5" x 7").  The pocket with out the insert is 4" wide and 3-3/4" tall. 

AND, the insert is the perfect size to stick a gift card to! Super cool!!! I am thrilled, as usual, with this month's kit. There are so many fun things you can do with a pocket!

Large Die of the Month - 2 Ways

Happy December my friends. One of the things I love about a new month is the arrival of the Spellbinders kits of the Month. Today I am sharing the December 2021 Large Die of the Month. I'll share the die set and all it's pieces, a sort of review and then make two different cards using this die set. 

If you are not familiar with the Kit of the Month program from Spellbinders you should take a second to check it out. They have three different kit of the month that are die sets, a Glimmer Hot Foil kit of the month, Clear Stamp of the Month, Card Kit of the Month and bundles of the different kits you can get as well. They are priced right and come to you each month that you want to continue getting them. 

This month's kit, Stitched Layered Background, has 6 dies in it. They layer together for a stunning look and one of the layers you are able to stitch on, or if you are not into stitching it looks great just die cut. Take a look at the two cards I made with this set, one has stitching and the other does not.

First let's look at the card I made without stitching. 

For this card I used all four of the largest dies to create this layered white panel. I die cut all the layers from White card stock for an elegant look and backed it with red for a pop of color. 

This elegant background paired beautifully with my Christmas Florals, a Glimmer Hot Foil set. 

For my second card I used the stitched panel to create the look of a Christmas sweater. 

First I stitched all the Red diamond shapes and thought I'd then layer the other die cuts over it like on the last card. BUT, the idea came to me to stitch in the open spaces connecting it all with green thread. Inspired by the Ugly (but not too ugly) Christmas sweater, I went for it.

Can I Hot Foil On That?

I did a little experimenting in this video, trying out Hot Foiling on new surfaces! In this video I try out; cellophane, a new white card stock, heat proof acetate, patterned paper, colored card stock, and already foiled card stock. Along the way you get some tips and tricks for Hot Foiling. 

And in all that experimenting I ended up with 3 Christmas cards using the Glimmer Kit of the Month from Spellbinders for November 2021. 

First let's look at the 3 cards and then at the video. 

They are so shiny!  All three of the cards I made are 5x7 sized. I love this size for Christmas, it seems more special and elegant.

For the first card I jumped right in to see if I could Hot Foil on cellophane. This is the type of clear plastic material that is wrapped around a lot of the stamping supplies that you and I purchase. I have seen this done a couple times and even so I was skeptical. So, I had to try it out for myself! 

BUT, my skepticism was not necessary, it WORKS! Yes, I can and YOU can hot foil on cellophane! And, it's gorgeous, specially with the Gold foil, which came with the Glimmer Kit of the month. This month's kit has three wavy borders that hot foil and two dies that cut them out. I used the dies to cut colored card stock strips to go behind the hot foiled panel. And that hot foiled cellophane, became the cover for my full panel shaker card. You have to check out the video to see it in action. 

I also tried out a new Super Smooth White card stock by WOW in this video. Not all white card stocks are great for foiling. So when the lovely people at WOW asked me if I would like to try their Super Smooth Card stock for hot foiling I jumped at the chance. One of the things that gives great results when hot foiling on white card stock is a very smooth surface and this card stock has that for sure. And as you can see by the hot foiled Merry Christmas sentiment, it hot foiled beautifully! I will be using this card stock more for foiling for sure! 

On my second card I tried out some heat proof acetate. 

Heat proof acetate works for embossing on, it withstands the heat of an embossing gun. But would it hold up on the hot foil machine just laying there for about one minute? YES, yes it did. And I LOVE the results, which you can see on this card. I hot foiled " Merry Christmas" in green foil on the acetate. 

Also on this card I did some hot foiling on colored card stock. I have done this before, but have recently been asked about it, so I wanted to feature it on this video. YES, you can hot foil on colored card stock. The car stock I used is 85lb. It was the card stock that Spellbinder use to carry before they switched up their cardstock and the brand is Fun Stampers Journey. I used red foil on this red paper for a gorgeous tone on tone hot foiled look. Not all card stocks are the same, so play with what you have on hand and in the future I will try out other brands of colored card stock too. 

Next up, I tried Hot Foiling on patterned paper. 

The center, red panel, on this card is patterned paper. It is from the Christmas Traditions Paper pad (I used other prints from this pad for the first two cards). It is on the light weight side as far a patterned paper goes, which made me wonder how it would hold up to the rigors of hot foiling. As you can see, it held up just fine!  I picked a pattern of paper that was tone on tone and less busy and it ended up being a beautiful layer for this card. 

Another thing I shared in this video is hot foiling a piece of cardstock that has already been hot foiled. First I hot foiled the green pattern on this paper, then I hot foiled the gold border under that. You can do this and it will not effect the previously hot foiled element. 

So, all in all, my experimenting was a great success!  And it was tons of fun, I set out to make one card and just kept going. I love it when the mojo flows and you have to try this and that! And then hours go by and your family is eating cereal again for dinner. Just kidding, mostly.

Large Die of the Month Christmas Foliage

It's time to check out the Large Die of the Month for November 2021 from Spellbinders. Once I again, I am blown away by how gorgeous this die set is!  And the versatility. Several of the dies in this set can be used on any card, not just for Christmas. This die set is called Christmas Foliage Strips & Borders. There are 13 dies in this set, four of which are slimline border dies. 

First, let's take a look at the card and gift tag I made with this new die set. 

Look at the foliage, so very pretty. For these projects I went for a vintage Christmas vibe. You can see the backgrounds created and this die set in action in the video below.

I had so much fun making the backgrounds for these projects. First I did some ink blending with Distress Oxide ink; Black Soot for the bottom and Rustic Wilderness for the top. The next step was splatter. I used water, Distress Mica Sprays, and distress oxide ink. I just love how they turned out. 

But the star of this show is all the amazing die cuts. You can see all the foliage dies here, layered on top of the border die. To add a bit of interest to my die cut foliage I used a W4 or W6 marker to add shading and then spritzed the pieces with Distress Mica Spray stain. 

Once all the pieces were mounted to the card I added more splatter, this time with white acrylic paint for a snowy effect. 

Then it was time to embellish. I used some gold gems, glaze and Black Licorice Sparkle ribbon. 

After making this card I has several die cut foliage pieces left over and so I used them to make a gift tag. 

Do you see the sentiments I used on today's projects? They were stamped and embossed using the Clear Stamp of the Month for November, also from Spellbinders. I love that they coordinate the products in the different club kits to work together. This month's set is called Around the Holidays and now you can get a die set to coordinate with it! 

I used all the same techniques for this tag as I did on the card, but have to point out that lacy trim round the bottom of the tag. That is one of the slimline border dies from this months die set, but it can also be used on other sized cards/projects as well.

Glimmering Autumn

Today I am sharing a close up look at the Glimmer Kit of the Month for October 2021 from Spellbinders, Glimmering Autumn.

This kit has 15 pieces; 6 Glimmer Hot Foil Plates and 9 dies. There are dies to cut out all of the glimmer hot foiled images, plus dies that cut out supporting images. I have used them all on the card I made so you can really get a feel for this kit.This month's kit also comes with a roll of Copper Foil. It is a gorgeous color!

In this months Kit you are going to get plates to hot foil a mushroom, maple leaf, oak leaf, acorn, a flower and a sentiment (thankful for you). There are dies to cut out each of the images, but not the sentiment. The dies cut on the hot foil line, leaving no white border. The Copper foil that comes in this kit is a gorgeous metallic brownish orange gold color that I am just in love with! 

The other dies in this kit cut out a branch, flowers for this branch, leaves and a flower to layer on top of the hot foiled flower. It's really fun to mix and match all the foiled images with the die cut images as I have done on this card. It make it all fit how I wanted I made an A7 card, 10" x 7", scored at 5".

Santa's Train Ornament

Welcome back my stamping friends. Today I am sharing the Large Die of the Month from Spellbinders for October 2021! I'm LOVING this die set. I looked at it and immediately knew I had to make an ornament with this die set! 

This is the Santa's Fireplace die set. There are 27 dies in this set and the price of the Large Die of the Month is only $27.99. That is an amazing deal!  This set has dies that will create the fire place, complete with log and burning fire and a grate to keep it all contained. There is also a base for the fire place that you can drop in one of six of the sentiment options. There is also a kinetic Santa, which means you can adhere the legs so that they swing back and forth!  You can dress up your fire place with garland, flowers, a bow, candle sticks, stockings  and even a wreath. SO many great dies in this set, no detail was left out.

Now let's take a close up look at this ornament. 

Once you see this die set in action and know where all the pieces go, it is very easy to put together. I love that there are dies to cut out pieces to adhere behind the details cuts into the fireplace. I used silver card stock and I love the metallic shine it adds. 

To create an ornament from this fireplace you need a base to adhere it all too. I simply traced around my fireplace and base onto a piece of heavy weight white cardstock.  I then cut this out and was able to pop up my fireplace onto that to create this ornament. The good thing about the base being white is that you can add to it. I chose to stencil on some bricks. You could also ink blend the glow of a fire if you wanted to have a fire inside the fireplace. I did not want to burn up Santa's feet, so I just added the logs and grate. 

Look how great the garland and stocking look. It's the little details that really make this piece special and Spellbinders never forgets to add in the little details with this Large Die of the Month.  Also, I added the words, "Dear Santa" to the base of my fire place, but there are 5 other sentiments you could drop in and die cut out of the base; give thanks, noel, warm wishes, merry christmas, and a gift for you. 

I chose to use the greenery to make a garland to go across the mantel of my fireplace, but you can take these same greenery pieces and create a wreath. This fire place easily fits on an A2 sized card or larger. The wreath would look great as an element above the fire place when you add it to a card. There are also candle sticks you can add to the mantle. They were just too thin to add to the top of an ornament. 

There are so many different looks you can get with this fireplace, just by changing the colors you use. I love the idea of a fall look and using the GIVE THANKS words on the base of the fire place. And it would be easy to make a spooky fireplace as well and add some drips to the candle sticks. So, don't let the name, Santa's fireplace stop you from using this die set for all occasions.

All Aboard Christmas Train

Hello there stamping friends, I am back with more creations using the All Aboard Kit from Spellbinders. I previously used this kit to make twenty one A2 sized cards. If you missed that you can check it out in this video. When making those cards I did not use the die set that comes in this kit, the train die set. So, today's projects focus on the train.

This train is pretty easy to put together as the die creates scored lines in the train indicating where the layering elements go. And the kit comes with an idea sheet that shows you each piece put together and it is very helpful. 

All the paper I used to make this card is from the kit. Instead of using red card stock I used the red glitter card stock for some added interest. Each train car has a different color and is holding something different. This die set comes with dies to make ornaments, presents and trees. 

For the background I added a bit of Broken China distress oxide ink around the edge of my light blue card stock panel. Then I added three layers of splatter. First, a mist of water, then white acrylic paint and last Sparkle Silk. When all the was dry I stamped the snowflake image from the kit in Chipped Sapphire ink to complete the snowy scene. 

I had enough left over train elements that I decided to make a coordinating gift tag.  This time I decided to go for a white train. You can have so much fun with this die set making different color trains, and it is good beyond the Christmas season too. 

If you are wondering about the realistic snow I added to my projects it is the Snowfall Grit Paste from Tim Holtz latest Ranger release. It was a limited edition product, so if you are reading this and this product is no longer available you can use white or translucent grit paste and add glitter to it for a similar look.

All Aboard Kit - 21 Cards!

Hello!  This month I am doing something a little different than my usual Stamp Set of the Month. Each week I will be featuring a different card kit and making cards with that kit. This week I am featuring the All Aboard Kit from Spellbinders. This is a GIANT kit. You can see my unboxing of this kit right here. It has card stock a 6" x 6" patterned paper pack, glitter paper, ephemera packs, tags, chipboard stickers, glitter stickers, foam stickers, alphabet stickers, rhinestones, sequins, twine, foam squares, sticky tape, card bases, envelopes, a stamp set, and a die set!  It really is a TON of goodies. 

There are 25, A2 card bases in this kit and I really wanted to make 25 cards, but ended up shooting for 20, as there are 20 patterns of paper in the paper pad. But in the end I made 21 cards as I made one card with NO patterned paper on it. I also wanted to make quick and easy cards with this kit, as that was the only way I would get twenty some cards done.

To get me started in creating with this kit I decided I wanted to use every pattern in the 6" x 6" paper pad. Once I had the paper then I stared looking through the other elements of the kit to see what could go with it. This was a great jumping off point and kept me creating all the way through all 20 designs of paper. And since there is two of each sheet I still have plenty to play with. 

I love that there is such a mix of styles in this kit. There are some amazing floral ephemera pieces in this kit, like I used here on the gold card. But there are also some cute images like the stack of christmas books and stockings. There are even tags in this kit that you could use for your cards or for actual gift tags that could coordinate with a card you make. 

Another tip for creating with kits when you want to make a lot of cards is to repeat a technique or element that you love and just give it a tweak. In this photo there are three cards that I did this on. Take a look at the card in the bottom right corner. For this card I adhered several of the floral ephemera pieces to the card base and then cut off what extended over the edge. This gave me a gorgeous background that only needed a bit of splatter and a sentiment. I repeated this on the card in the lower left corner, but this time added in a piece of patterned paper. I love how the flowers extend past the patterned paper to the edge of the card. It makes for a beautiful background. And the card in the top right corner uses this same technique, but I cut the excess off at the edge of the patterned paper for an even different look. Also, the paper used under the ephemera changes the look as well. 

You can see that are not only beautiful florals in this kit but some bright and fun elements as well. I have to point out the "jolly" card in the upper right corner. This card is a full panel shaker card using the red sequins that come in the kit. I just use some clear plastic packaging to wrap around my card front to create this shaker. I show how to do it int he video. Another element that I love is on the bottom right card. I use my Journey Glaze to draw a line around the outer edge of the patterned paper and then sprinkled on the new Tinsel glitter from Ranger by Tim Holtz. It was like stepping back in time to kindergarten art, and I loved it!!! 

Another element I repeated is doing a smaller piece of patterned paper in the center of the card. I varied the sizes, to keep it interesting. If I just do the same exact thing repeatedly I get bored. But figuring out the subtle changes I can make really keeps my mojo going. 

I could have kept creating with this kit. There are things I barely even touched and I have so much left over even after making 21 cards. The one thing I did not even touch in the kit is the amazing Train die set! So stay tuned for another creation or two with this kit and the Train die set.
